Eun Young raced the streets of Seoul to reach the airport on time. Secretary Yoo still haven't replied and that mere fact alone may suggest that they have already departed. With this, Eun Young felt uneasy. Her husband always had sudden trips abroad but for some reason, it felt different this time... like he was never coming back. Perhaps little Jung Hyun's actions influenced her thinking. Maybe it was her developing case of insomnia. Whatever the cause was, she felt the need to see him.
She swiftly parked her Lykan Hypersport. Wasting no more time, she quickly made her way to the airport to check the schedules of the flights. Eun Young's heart was beating so fast that it was almost the only thing she could hear. She was panicking as she scanned the screen until finally, she found the flight bound for France. And to her dismay, the only flight for it had already departed ten minutes ago.
Eun Young checked her phone. There were still no messages from Secretary Yoo. She didn't need more hints to tell her that she was already too late. That was it.
She wrapped her coat tightly around her when she noticed that people were beginning to look at her direction. She was so determined to arrive here as quickly as she can that it even slipped her mind that she was still in her silk nightgown. Embarrassed, Eun Young tilted her face downward to hide it.
"Look at her, she went to the airport like that. Is she crazy?"
"Woah, they must be shooting a drama or something here. She might've lost her way. Is she someone famous?"
"Nah, I don't even recognize her. Maybe she got stood up by her boyfriend or something."
Eun Young began to walk away. There's no reason for her to stay anyway and besides, the least she'd want to happen is to be further embarrassed just by standing there. Eun Young ran past the people looking. However, because she wasn't really looking at where she was heading, she bumped into someone. Fortunately, neither of them lost their balance.
She looked up to see a familiar pair of beautiful brown eyes staring back at her. It only took a second for her mind to register the person in front of her. Startled, Eun Young immediately stepped back. Her thoughts were suddenly a mess as she was both abashed and surprised! How could he still be here? Shouldn't he be on that flight that had just departed?
"I thought I saw someone familiar." Min Jae smirked. Eun Young helplessly sighed as she looked away again.
"I... I came to fetch a friend. She told me she would be arriving tonight and I wanted to spend time with her so I figured I should pick her up myself." Eun Young lied. Mentally, she was already scolding herself for not thinking things through. Damn! How could I be so irrational for even coming here in the first place?! Ugh!
Min Jae slowly nodded. "Well... did she arrive already?" He casually asked as he checked the time. It was almost midnight. Usually, flights at this hour were headed internationally.
"N-not yet, but she will soon! She's from...uhm..." Eun Young randomly selected a country from the screen behind Min Jae. "Africa! Yeah, she's from there..." She said.
Just in time, Secretary Yoo approached Min Jae with a cup of coffee on hand. "Mr. Lee, here's your coffee. I already took care of our luggage and according to the crew, we're all set to depart." He briefly reported.
Secretary Yoo then noticed Eun Young. He was momentarily confused upon seeing her there but after returning to his senses, he bowed to greet her. "M-Mrs. Lee." He said. "I apologize for not being able to reply to your message. I was... occupied." He admitted.
Hearing this, Min Jae raised an eyebrow. "And this message is about..."
"Uhm..." Yoo Joong swallowed. "Mrs. Lee was asking about your flight's schedule, Mr. Lee" He bluntly said.
And just like that she was exposed. Eun Young squinted as she clenched her fists on both of her sides. Her face suddenly felt warm and in that moment, she desperately wanted to disappear. Eun Young tried to steady her chaotic heart. This won't do! This definitely won't do! Instantly, a thought occurred in her mind. Eun Young flashed Min Jae an annoyed look and upon seeing this, he was startled himself. She knew she didn't have to be embarrassed. Besides, she didn't do anything wrong. What's the fault on making sure her stupid husband wasn't doing anything stupid at this hour of the day?
Eun Young crossed her arms and began to spoke aggressively. "Shouldn't you be boarding your flight already? What are you standing here for?!"
Min Jae blinked at how sudden the woman before him had changed. She was embarrassed earlier and in a flick of a finger, she was suddenly exasperated. How did she turn the tables all of a sudden?! Is she perhaps... on that time of the month?
"Why aren't you answering?" She pried. "Ah... you're meeting up with someone aren't you? Is that why you missed your flight?"
Min Jae's brows furrowed as a puzzled expression emerged from his face. "What are you talking about?"
Eun Young scoffed and rolled her eyes. What are you talking about my foot! Maybe that's why she was feeling uneasy earlier. Who knew that this man had something else up his sleeves? Is he seriously not gonna stop?
Suddenly feeling the tension from the heated conversation, Secretary Yoo made up an excuse retreat from the couple. "M-Mr. Lee, I think I'm having an e-emergency. I'll just be at the toilet. Please do inform me if we're set to leave, sir." He said without pausing to take a breath.
Both Eun Young and Min Jae turned to look at him. And at the same time, they spoke. "You are excused."
Yoo Joong felt his knees go weak. Before he could even collapse on the floor, he scurried away to give the two privacy.
