“So…” (Grandma)

“Are you going to tell us about your legends?” (Maria)

Maria was thrilled to hear the story of their fight against the devils.

Others were also interested in the story.

“Calm down. That story is not worth mentioning.” (Grandma)

“Really?” (Everyone else)

Everyone expecting to hear a thrilling story felt somewhat disappointed.

“What we are going to talk about is the story of devils of the past.” (Grandma and grandpa)

It was not about their brilliant achievements, but everyone turned solemn when they heard the words “devils of the past”.

“The devils we killed were the same as the ones described in the story. They wanted to destroy everything.” (Grandma)

“It seems their only aim is to destroy everything they encounter.” (Shin)

“The magic that came out of them made people feel that they hated everything in the world.” (Grandpa)

“You’ll understand what we mean if you see them with your own eyes.” (Grandma)

Everyone listened with bated breath to the story being told by grandma and grandpa who had once confronted the legendary devils.

However, I haven’t read that book. Is there any description of devils in the book?

“There isn’t a detailed description in the story.” (Shin)

“Were devils full of hatred?” (Thor)

I tried to fathom what Thor meant. Alice, who seemed to be imagining the devils pouring  out magic power, slightly trembled with fear.

“We must defeat him.” (Shin)

“The devil is an unparalleled threat.” (Grandpa)

Grandpa had told me about the subjugation of devils cursorily before.

Actually, grandpa thought a lot while he was fighting.

“The devils that appeared this time also seemed to hate the empire.” (Grandpa)

“The devils that were subjugated said that their aim was to destroy the empire.” (Grandma)

The hatred.

We don’t know why the devils and Schtrom hate the empire.

However, according to the devils, Schtrom hated the empire so much that he vowed to destroy the Empire.

So grandma’s speculation that Schtrom had turned into a devil because of hatred was true?

“Yes. As Schtrom’s hatred for the empire has been dispelled, his long-term goal should also disappear. I don’t think he’ll bring harm to others for the time being.” (Grandma)

Grandma said it while looking at everyone, especially August.

“However, every devil is full of hatred; Schtrom may begin to hate the whole world like the devils of the past did.” (August)

“Yes. That’s what I am worrying about. The devils of the present may be different from the devils of the past, but they have something in common—the devilization.” (Grandma)

The reason for devilization is that they are full of resentment. We shouldn’t relax our vigilance even if the devils are self-aware.

Because there have been only a  few cases of demonization, it was impossible for us to further explore the causes of demonization.

How upsetting.

“If I knew more about the demonization, I could prove my conjecture.” (Shin)

“What are you thinking of?” (Grandma)

Hearing my complaint, grandma and grandpa became lost in thought.

“Do you know who the “humans” that became devils in the past are?” (Shin)

I asked.

“I don’t know.” (Thor)

“It was not mentioned in the story.” (Yuri)

According to Yuri, there seemed to be no details about the devil in the story.

“It is because the Magic Division of Earlshide concealed the information from us.” (Grandma)

“So we can’t figure out who turned into devils.” (Shin)

“They concealed the information?” (Thor)

Thor seemed to have caught onto something.

So did I.

People who turned into devils in the past were…

“The magicians in the Magic Division of Earlshide.”

Everyone also seemed to notice it and started to discuss it with each other heatedly.

“Is that so? Your Highness?” (Maria)

“Well, it’s the first time I’ve heard about it.” (August)

August answered Maria’s question.

It seemed that Uncle Dis hadn’t talked about it.

If their own magicians turned into devils, the Magic Division would conceal the truth.

But.

“What’s wrong, Shin?” (August)

“No, I’m wondering if it’s necessary to conceal it so desperately.” (Shin)

While I was wondering, grandma told us the reason.

“The magicians who turned into devils were as brilliant and powerful as Merlin.” (Grandma)

“As brilliant and powerful as Lord Magi?” (Maria)

“How powerful they were!” (Thor)

Maria and Thor was stunned by grandma’s words.
