Chapter 11 – Attitude Determines Everything

Sometimes, Fang Yuan can be very generous. As long as it doesn’t negatively affect him, he is willing to completely immerse himself in cultivation and care for nothing else. But other times, he can be harsh; especially when someone is disrespecting him. He would return the insult immediately. Zhou Qingyue threw a pile of leaves on his head, so he threw a pile of leaves on Zhou Qingyu’s face…

Zhou Qingyue had forgotten his anger…

Every disciple was the same; their eyes staring as if they were bronze bells, unable to speak.

They had not expected such a scene!

Their cultivation were quite low and they couldn’t judge Fang Yuan’s progress. But they understood Fang Yuan’s show of force.

The Qingyang Sect’s gathering qi technique has descriptions of skills one can use after reaching each level. Only those who have completed the first level can move objects using the power of nature. The fact that Fang Yuan can control these dead leaves means…

His cultivation has already reached the completion of level one of gathering qi!

Although it may not be difficult to lift a bunch of leaves, for it to hit a target accurately means that, without doubt, Fang Yuan’s cultivation is not lower than Zhou Qingyue!

How is this possible?

How can a servant, who has endless tasks, find time to cultivate?

Zhou Qingyue had practiced diligently with the help with elders. Even then, he could only reach the completion of the first level of gathering qi. Yet, this servant disciple, without any resources, without guidance, without time to cultivate, had reached it as well. How did he do this?

“Servant disciples and sect disciples may have great gaps, but in the beginning, the difference isn’t that big..” Fang Yuan acted in a calm manner, but he secretly sighed to himself.

His cultivation is still quite low. With this one act, he had almost exhausted all of his qi.

But he could not relax in this moment. He moved forward and grabbed the spirit stone from Zhou Qingyue’s frozen hand. With a smile, he said, “Thank you!”

Afterwards, he bowed and turned to walk down the hill.

“You… “

The surrounding disciples wanted to stop him, but they didn’t know what to say.

“Haha, he really is worthy of being number one on the immortal’s list…”

Sister Qiao’s laughter rang out in the surrounding silence. She clapped her hands as her beautiful gaze fell upon Zhou Qingyue’s face. “Look at you all. You’re all so proud of the smallest improvement, yet you were beaten by another. If the elder hears of how your cultivation is even lower than that of a servant disciple, who knows what he would do to punish you guys. What are you all still staring at? Go back and cultivate!”

“Sister Qiao, this…”

Some stared at Fang Yuan’s back with distaste.

“What about this?” asked one of them.

Sister Qiao glanced at him and said, “He already won. Didn’t you see?”

That person was shocked, “How is that possible…”

Sister Qiao shook her head, “How is it not possible. We are all new at cultivation and not that different from servant disciples. Even these spirit stones are items that we had just obtained. With time, our differences will grow and the servant disciples will no longer be able to catch up to you guys. But that is in the future.”

“Even if there aren’t major differences, he still shouldn’t…”

Zhou Qingyue suddenly spoke with a red face.

“Oh well. It’s not that impossible. My brother Fang is more hardworking than anyone I know…”

Suddenly, another voice spoke up. Steward Sun shook his head and continued, “Even I had not expected that he would be able to complete the first level of gathering qi within a month. All we have is a manual and two low quality gathering qi pills. Our cultivation speed is slower than that of an ant. Even for someone like me who can cultivate quite fast, it still took three months to finish the first level of gathering qi. This Brother Fang is really quite deserving…”

His words attracted the ominous looks of the other disciples.

They didn’t dare to question Sister Qiao’s praise, but they didn’t want to hear it from this servant.

“Why are you still here?” asked someone angrily.

“Me?”

Steward Sun paused and then started laughing, “I’m here to collect debts for my Brother Fang…”

Hearing debts, these sect disciples didn’t know how to react.

Steward Sun smiled and said, “Didn’t you say before that everyone should contribute to the bet? I remember this little immortal bet a spirit stone and this one also bet one as well. Oh and this fat… this well-rounded brother was even more impressive and bet ten spirit stones right?”

With his sly eyes, the faces of the disciples of the immortal sect suddenly became very ugly.

They don’t really want to make this bet, but really just wanted to support Zhou Qingyue!

One has to know that the first spirit stone was more precious than treasures!

Even the one called Fang Yuan didn’t mention the bet and only took Zhou Qingyue’s spirit stone before leaving. They were happy to forget about it. But who could have thought that there would be a debt collecting left here…

“You’re all little immortals. With your positions, you wouldn’t refuse to pay right?”

Steward Sun smiled as his hands reached forward.

Seeing this thin man’s smile, they immediately wanted to throw out a punch…

“Well, as sect disciples, one has to keep one’s word. If you made a bet then you have to pay up…”

Unfortunately, Sister Qiao suddenly said these words with a smiling face.

“This…”

The disciples were filled with anger. But still, a rich disciple, who didn’t care much about a single spirit stone and didn’t want to lose face, coldly handed a spirit stone to Steward Sun.

“Oh, thank you, thank you…”

Steward Sun nodded and reached toward another.

In front of this servant and Sister Qiao, the others reluctantly gave up the spirit stones they had promised. The fat one gave the only spirit stone he had and acted as if he were willing to fight for his life if needed.

“Haha, I thank you little immortals for my Brother Fang…”

Steward Sun put these spirit stones away and left with joy.

Zhou Qingyue could feel the angry stares from the people around him and knew that they were quite dissatisfied with him. He quickly said, “Fellow brothers, please don’t be mad. I, Zhou Qingyue, will return these to you. It was all because of Fang Yuan…”

“Brother Zhou, I have a few words I would like to say.”

Zhou Qingque had not finished blaming Fang Yuan when Sister Qiao spoke up.

He didn’t dare to anger her and quickly nodded, “Please go ahead!”

“If I were you, I wouldn’t hold a grudge toward the former number one on the immortal’s list!”

Zhou Qingyue paused as his face turned completely red.

Another disciple was quite dissatisfied as well and said, “Sister Qiao, why are you speaking up for that loser?”

Sister Qiao smiled coldly, and said “I just don’t want you guys to offend a future comrade.”

“Future comrade?”

Hearing this, their faces changed.

Some started laughing. “Sister Qiao must be joking. Although there is a rule that servant disciples can rise to sect disciples, it was in the past. Resources determine everything. Cultivation will get harder. Gathering qi level two will be harder than level one and level three will be many times harder than level two. These servant disciples don’t even have access to spirit stones or teachings. It’s ridiculous to think that they can enter the sect by their own efforts…”

The other disciples nodded in agreement.

If it really were so easy for servants to become disciples, then their positions as disciples really weren’t worth much.

Sister Qiao ignored it and looked toward the quiet Zhou Qingyue, “Brother Zhou has conflicts with him?”

Zhou Qingyue opened his mouth but couldn’t find an answer. He said stiffly, “I didn’t before, but with this humiliation, now we do!”

“This is what I want to advise you about!”

Sister Qiao replied with a faint sigh, “Even though cultivation will become more difficult and the servant disciples will slow down, Brother Zhou should think about how you were able to achieve the first level of gathering qi versus how he was able to achieve it…”

“To do what others could not, to endure what others could not. He was able to endure what happened with the immortals list and suppress his pride to enter the sect as a servant…”

With these words, she shook her head, “Haha, I don’t know what you think, but if I had such a classmate, I wouldn’t hold a grudge, but would try to befriend him…”
