Thankfully, the man was too tipsy to notice Liz's weird expression. He had just reached forward for his glass again, and this time, Liz just filled it up completely.
She had already gotten what she needed, and although she couldn't believe it, she knew that that was all she was going to be getting from him.
Till now, she had been taking care so that he wouldn't drink too much and faint. That wasn't needed anymore, so Liz just let him down the whole thing.
After looking into the air in a daze for a few seconds, the man slumped on the table and started snoring, which made Liz shake her head and get up.
Her mind was still completely blown, so she could only look down and walk toward the exit.
Just as she was about to leave, the waiter asked, "Ma'am, what about the bill?"
Jabbing a thumb at the sleeping man, she said, "Ask James Bond over there," and left the restaurant.
Even during the walk back to the hotel, questions kept popping up in Liz's head.
Could he have been lying?
Could someone be framing Will's mother?
But whoever the culprit was had to have had immense power in the company.
Will's mother definitely fit the bill, as she was one of the major stakeholders in Happle, Inc.
But why would she want to do such a thing?
Her head still reeling, she stumbled into the hotel and was just about to press the button to call for the elevator when she heard a voice behind her.
"Hello. Someone's been out partying."
She reeked of cognac, and she was dressed for a party. So, that conclusion made sense.
Yet, it was the voice that made her turn around and stare as if she had seen a ghost.
It was Will.
What was she supposed to do? It was his mother!
Should she just tell him? Or should she look for more proof first?
Seeing the extreme confusion and doubt in Liz's eyes, Will knew something was wrong.
Walking forward swiftly, he held her by her shoulders.
"What's wrong, Liz? Are you ok? And why do you look like that?", he asked with concern, wondering if something bad might have happened.
However, seeing the hesitation in her eyes as she heard him ask this, the confusion in him only grew.
She was wearing quite heavy makeup, and although she looked gorgeous and almost like she was a different person, he had been able to recognize her because of his familiarity with her.
It was the expression on her face which gave him pause.
She looked like…she was deciding whether to tell him something or not.
As a CEO, reading a person's intentions from their face was one of the job descriptions.
"What is it, Liz? Just tell me, you don't need to hesitate. Whatever it is, I guarantee that you don't need to think twice before telling me."
As Liz heard him say this, she started leaning more toward blurting out the truth.
From everything she had seen about the way Will thought about his parents, she knew that there was a lot of…'stuff' there that she didn't understand.

As such, she knew that she was in no position to make any decision regarding this.
So, the best option would be to just trust the man she had fallen for, and see what he would say.
"I-I think I just found the culprit. I was just coming back from meeting him. I didn't want him to recognize me."
Saying this, Liz looked to the side, as if she was considering for one last time whether this was what she should do.
Will was waiting. He knew that this wasn't the full answer, and he could tell that Liz was deliberating.
Finally, taking a deep breath, Liz looked straight into his eyes in order to be ready to assess his reaction and said, "He said it was your mom."
First, there was shock.
Then, there was anger, which soon turned into fury.
However, what struck Liz the most was that there wasn't a smidgen of doubt.
Yes! He trusted her!
Or, wait, maybe she had done something like this earlier?
Yes, it was definitely the later.
Otherwise, there was no way to explain the fury.
After all, if he did trust her and if he was shocked, then his next emotion would be to want to go confront his mother and find out why, not be angry at her as if he was sure that she had done it.
No, Liz. Stop overthinking.
In his rage, Will even started squeezing his hands unconsciously, which led to Liz feeling pain as he was still grasping her shoulders.
"Ow, Will!", she finally exclaimed, which made him widen his eyes and step back before running his hands through his hair in frustration.
In a hissing voice, he said, "Damn that woman! I never wanted to hurt you, Liz. I'm sorry. This is all my fault. Give me a little bit of time. I'll set it all right."
Bam!
As if to vent, Will punched the wooden wall beside her with his full force, causing a fist-sized impression to appear in it.
His hand got bruised, but he didn't seem to care.
Looking into Liz's eyes again, he repeated, "Yes. I'll set this right. I will," before storming away in a specific direction which led to the outside of the hotel.
Seeing this, Liz felt worry filling her mind.
She possibly couldn't have expected this reaction.
Right now, she was really afraid that he would do something irrational in his anger.
So, even though she was quite drunk, she ran after him, and managed to catch him right before he drove off in that same car they had gone to the slums in before.
She had to stand in front of the car to stop him, and this caught his attention too.
"Whatever it is, I'm a part of this, too, Will. Take me along.", she shouted, which made an expression of struggle appear in Will's eyes.
Finally, after taking a second, he said, "You're right. Get in," in that same voice of anger.
Even before she completely closed the door, he drove off to, while Liz wondered just where the heck they were going.
