This statement from Liz broke the atmosphere in the room, where Will and Jenny had been looking at each other while trying to control the surging shock inside them.
As the shock slowly receded, a host of emotions appeared very briefly on the CEO's face before they were all tucked away and replaced by one of anger.
Of course, Liz hadn't missed them. Although she hadn't been able to recognize some of the emotions, the regret that had been clearly visible for the briefest of moments had felt very, very satisfying to see.
In fact, this had even made a smile appear her face, knowing that she had cleared her name.
As for Jenny, the fear that she had felt before stayed, as she knew that she wouldn't even be able to run away now. She was just an ant to these business moguls who could track her down easily if they wanted to, so there was no more meaning in resisting.
Dragging her feet, Jenny sat down in front of a table while the CEO also took a seat in front of her.
Hanging her head low, she stared at her feet as if she wasn't brave enough to look up.
Seeing this, Liz also walked up to the table and slammed her hands on it, startling Jenny and making her glance up.
"Out with it. Tell us everything."
As someone who had managed to get a job in Happle, Jenny wasn't dumb, and she knew that this might be the one opportunity to still salvage the situation by showing that she could still be useful.
Opening her mouth, she began the story of how she had joined Sylvex.
Like Liz had guessed, Sylvex had approached Jenny after she had gotten the job and had given her the payment after explaining that it was her additional job to make sure that no one got close to the CEO.
Hearing this, Will's fists closed tight as his face took on a furious expression, like someone who was going to go on the warpath.
Next came the events that followed, where she had kept close tabs on the CEO and his assistants. Yet, Liz had been the only one who had actually been invited to a dinner.
As the story of how exactly she had sabotaged the dinner came out, Liz, herself, was shocked.
Apparently, the CEO had a past where he detested those who tried to get close to him. Jenny didn't know the reason, but she had been told that the most effective approach would be to make someone seem as if they were after his money.
This had actually made new questions appear in Liz's mind, as she wondered just what the reason was behind the CEO's reaction.
Still, she didn't care too much as the pain from those events was still lingering in her heart.
After the narration, Liz stopped controlling herself and said something that made another silence come in the room.
"After I realized that there was foul play with the dress, I set about trying to find the culprit instead of 'jumping to conclusions' with no clear facts at all."
Hearing this, Will had to struggle hard to control the feelings of embarrassment and regret that had come into his mind again. They were clearly directed at him, and the mocking tone of her voice was hard to miss.
"But how did you do all this?!", Jenny asked in desperation, wanting to find out just what the reason was behind everything unraveling like so.
In fact, Will had also been curious about this exact same thing.
In a sudden instant, he had found out that he had blamed a woman of making approaches on him when she had been schemed against by someone from a rival company. Also, that someone was actually his receptionist who handled the day-to-day activities of Happle to a certain degree.
It was shocking, to say the least, that Sylvex had managed to infiltrate so deeply.
Yet, it was even more shocking that Liz had managed to plan everything so perfectly in order to let him know without a doubt that Jenny was the spy.
After all, in his previous state, he wouldn't have believed the recording if it had been brought to him by Liz. If it weren't for the panic and fear which he had seen before in Jenny's eyes which had made everything clear, he would still be thinking that Liz was just someone like all the others.
Hence, that moment had been crucial, so he wanted to know how she had orchestrated it so perfectly.
With a triumphant smile, Liz started to speak about how her plan, making both Jenny's and Will's jaws almost drop to the floor because of the shock that came from realizing that someone was actually capable of accomplishing something which seemed impossible at first glance.
