Having had a sleepless night due to the new location, Liz was woken up at 5 am by the loud buzzing of the tablet beside her bed.
What sucked was that she had just fallen asleep after tossing and turning for the past few hours, accompanied by dreams of being chased by a mug of hot cocoa which kept threatening her that it would tell the CEO that she had made it fall on purpose.
Reluctantly pulling herself out of the comfortable heated blanket, she blinked her eyes groggily and took the tablet.
It seemed that she had pressed something in the process, as the screen changed to show her mother's concerned face.
"LIZ! Why didn't you call last night? We were all so worried! What's wrong with your face? Were you drinking all night?!"
The barrage of questions completely woke Liz up, making her frown and answer, "No, mum, I wasn't drinking! I just had a late night; I'm not here on vacation, you know. I didn't call because I realized that it was midnight over there when I had the time to call. Just like its the crack of dawn here!"
With a slight hint of embarrassment on her face, Mary said, "Ok, I'm sorry I woke you up! But you're up anyway, so go put that makeup on! Don't let the boss see you like this! By the way, I packed a lot of push up bras, have you worn them? You can dress up later, first, go put some-"
"MOM! So that's why I have no normal bras! Why did you do so?"
Alarmed by the loud tone with which Liz said these words and looking sideways as if to hide her intentions, Mary said, "Th-there's no harm in highlighting what we have-"
"MOM! Don't you go playing matchmaker again! Just wait till I get back there, we will have a nice long TALK!"
As if caught in the act, Mary got a look of slight panic on her face before the image on the tablet shifted to Derek's face.
Yet, immediately, Derek pushed the tablet away, saying, "I'm late for school, bye!"
Even though it had been brief, Liz had gotten a glimpse of her brother's face. Hence, she had gotten a clear look at the red bruise below his eye.
Sitting up with alarm and worry, Liz asked, "Derek, have those kids been bullying you again?"
Hearing the sound of footsteps hurrying away, Liz was about to ask again in a louder tone before the tablet was moved again to show her mother's face.
"He insists that he just fell. I asked him who it was, but he refuses to tell me the names. Should I call Luke?"
Sighing deeply, Liz said, "No. I'll tell him, I was going to anyway. I should be back in a week. Call the doctor at night, you'll find the number on the telephone stand. It's covered by the company, so just do it. I should go. Bye."
Hanging up, Liz got out of the bed and stretched.
One of the reasons behind her wanting to earn a lot of money was to put Derek in a better school.
She didn't know why, but the cute little kid was constantly harassed by the school bullies.
Although she had wanted to intervene many times, the kid never told her who it was.
Just as she was about to call Luke, she heard a knock on the door.
Wondering who it could be this early in the morning, Liz shouted, "Who is it?!"
"Ma'am, we have been asked to send the message that you are expected to be in the conference room 30 minutes from now. I was asked to tell you that there is an emergency."
Startled at the message, Liz immediately shouted, "Got it. I'll be there," before rushing into the shower.
25 minutes later, Liz rushed into the conference room while resolving to have a stern talk with her mother after going home.
The woman really had packed a lot of push up bras, and with Liz's large breasts, the push-up effect would all the more be exaggerated, making others think that it was her intention to attract attention.
She was wearing the last regular bra she had, and she resolved to find some time to shop if possible.
Yet, all thoughts like these flew out of her mind as she heard Keren speak.
"Xander contacted us again. The 3-day deadline has been changed to 1 day. He wants an answer by tonight."
