At sharp 6: 59 p.m., the CEO was standing outside Liz's door while holding a bouquet in one hand and a wine bottle in another. Two guards beside him were holding two other bouquets, but they were bewildered as to why their job had suddenly turned into bouquet holders.
He had pulled up to the house silently in the limousine, and when the clock on his watch struck 7 PM, he rang the doorbell which was opened in a few seconds by a man he had met before.
He recognized him from the event in the diner, when Liz had said that he was her best friend since childhood.
Seeing the man raise an eyebrow in response to this sight, he, one of the only individuals in the world who could make the top leaders of almost every industry shake in their boots, looked down, wondering whether he had done too much.
"Luke? Is he here?"
With this call, Liz appeared at the door, making Will look up and lose his breath.
She was wearing a casual light pink dress, and she looked so effortlessly beautiful that all the thoughts started to fall out of his head.
He did not see a speck of make-up on her, which was such a stark difference from most of the woman he had met so far.
He always constantly asked himself what he found to be so special on her, but he had never managed to find the answer.
All he knew was that he wanted to spend more time with her, but his memories, his past experiences and his awkwardness in dealing with the other sex when related to romantic matters stopped him.
However, he had taken the step forward today, and for once, he was glad that he had done so.
Liz, on the other hand, had indeed been a bit bewildered when she saw the CEO.
The man was wearing a formal suit as if he was attending a ball, complete with a bowtie.
However, the suit was a light purple which brought out the blue in his eyes and made her wonder whether he had picked out the suit himself or whether there was some sort of professional dress picker like all the personal assistants she had seen on the flight.
As for the three bouquets, they were beautiful and they seemed to be methodically picked out to match and contrast each other both in scent and color.
As for the bottle in his hands, she wasn't a very avid drinker of wine, so she couldn't see it for what it was.
If she had known that it was something that cost eleven thousand dollars, she might have handled it more carefully when he handed it to her.
After saying "Welcome! Thank you!", Liz took it and simply held it loosely in her hand by its neck, which was a sight that would have definitely broken the heart of any wine lover.
"So you are Mr. William Bradshaw! Liz has told me so much about you! I hear that you spend so much time with each other… I hope you have a lot of FUN working together!"
Seeing the weird and nervous way in which the word 'fun' was highlighted by Mary who had just appeared at the door, all 4 men and 1 woman, including the bodyguards, stared at her.
In the awkward silence that followed, Mary smiled sheepishly and rubbed her nose before saying, "Why are you still of the door? Please come in!"
Leaving these words, Mary turned around and walked back to the kitchen, after which Liz shook her head while looking at her mother's back and said, "Yes, please do come in. That was my mother, Mary. Please don't mind her. DEREK! Look who's here!"
Nodding, Willl walked inside and closed the door behind him politely.
Luke, on the other hand, who usually had a smile on his face, now actually had his lips pressed together into a thin line.
Hearing himself called, Derek walked down the stairs, but weirdly, his hands were folded together and he was looking to one side.
This made him almost trip, and it was such a funny sight that Liz would have chuckled if it were not for the fact that she was too puzzled as to why this little munchkin was acting like this.
"Derek, what's wrong with you? Didn't you want to thank the man who made it so that you don't have to face those bullies anymore? Weren't you really interested to talk to him so that you could tell him what happened first-hand?"
"No. I'm sick. I wanna sleep."
Liz almost thought she was imagining things, but she could swear that Derek and Luke had just exchanged a wink after her little brother said these words.
Just as she was about to berate both of them, the CEO spoke.
"Hey Derek, I have a present for you."
