Chen Linyun entered Apartment 301. He saw a new sight. Xue Jinxu was in front of an easel. Her hair was in a messy bun. She was on a messy state in general. She was wearing an apron, but even so, there were remnants of colorful paint on her skin, and even on her cheeks. She was painting.
The floor below had been protected with rags and newspaper. At this point, her masterpiece was still on draft. Pencil guides were seen here and there. She was mixing colors and inspecting color swatches.
"Oh, you're home early." She turned her torso away from the easel, towards Chen Linyun. She gave him a welcome kiss.
"No, it's already seven in the evening." Chen Linyun clarified.
"Really?! Oh no, I haven't cooked yet!" She sprung to her feet, laid down her mixing plate, then sped up towards the kitchen. Chen Linyun grabbed her waist.
"Hey, let me go, I have to cook our dinner." She said sweetly, apologetically while trying to untangle his hand on her waist.
"Let's just eat out. Allow me to take my wife on a date."
Xue Jinxu pursed her lips, but even then she could not hide her smile. Her cheeks were blushing with the thoughtfulness of the husband. She wrapped her arms around his neck. "I love you." She gave him a peck on the lips then she added. "I'll dress up quickly. Give me five minutes."
'Is five minutes enough?' He thought. After being married for almost three months already, he could have deduced some of the behaviors Xue Jinxu has as a person. As much as she liked to meet her deadlines, it's impossible for her to dress up and get ready in five minutes. It would be believable if she had said fifteen minutes instead, although it's still short.
He rested on the couch while waiting for Xue Jinxu. He's thinking of a good place to eat out.
"Jinxu, where do you want to eat?" He called out from the living room.
She went out of the bedroom, still fixing one of her dangling earrings. She was wearing a blue off-shoulder dress up to her knees, and wedges. "Anywhere, dear~"
"There's a new noodle house along the main avenue. Maybe we can check it out? They also have delicious dumplings. I saw their poster when I went grocery shopping today." She added.
"Okay, let's check it out." Chen Linyun approached her. She looked ravishing. "Have I told you that you're so beautiful?"
Xue Jinxu giggled. "Many times, dear. Don't get tired of saying it. I like hearing it from you~" She clung her arms around his. They left shortly.
"This place is good. We should try the other dishes next time~" Xue Jinxu said while eating dinner.
"Okay." Chen Linyun agreed. He caressed her face. His eyes filled with so much gentleness and warmth.
What else could he ask for? He was living the dream.
Although he felt guilty because Xue Jinxu had, in a way, almost lost everything, he could not possibly deny that he was feeling extreme happiness.
"Aaahh.." He went back from his reverie. In front of him, there was a dumpling in chopsticks waiting to get eaten by him. Xue Jinxu was feeding him. She smiled contentedly when his mouth captured the dumpling. He did the same. He offered a dumpling to her on his chopsticks, which she ate heartily.
Then she put a dumpling between her teeth, half of it protruding, and leaned towards him. The lady was being playful. He knew this trick very well.
He was shaking his head, laughing a little. He grabbed her cheeks with his right hand, then very swiftly dived onto her mouth. He enclosed her mouth and the dumpling with his, took a bite where the dumpling ended from her mouth, then sucked and bit her soft lower lip teasingly too.
He withdrew his mouth from hers, still chewing his portion of the dumpling. "Mhmm, that's the tastiest dumpling that I have ever eaten."
The lady was blushing hard. She was left speechless. Her eyelashes flickered non-stop as she blinked several times. She could not believe that Chen Linyun would actually take her bait.
Chen Linyun was watching her with too much amusement. He cupped his right cheek with his right hand, his elbow resting on the table.
She's epic. Simply classic. Always teasing, but getting teased back in the end. It was funny if you think about it.
She cleared her throat. "Do you want another one?" She asked Chen Linyun.
"You'll do it again? The same method?" His amusement increasing one notch higher. "We're at a public place, dear." He sadi, his eyes full of mirth.
He brushed his thumb over her lips to clean the remnants of food from it from his little mischief. He pulled her chin again, then sucked her cherry lips. He playfully bit her lower lip while the tip of his tongue slightly brushed on it.
"Your lips are tastier than the dumpling." He said once done with the deed.
The lady's cheeks flushed a shade redder. She lowered her gaze on the floor. She felt that she would melt from where she was seated.
When had she lost the leverage? Before, Chen Linyun would always make way for her, allowing her to freely tease him, allowing her to always win their banter.
She felt that the moment she realized that she had fallen for this man, she had become so much softer. It wasn't really a bad thing. It's just that it felt… different - the mighty Xue Jinxu folding in front of her man.
And she found out, even when they were married, she still blushed from his antics. Even his antics had levelled up, appropriate to married couples. She could not believe Chen Linyun was capable of it.
Xue Jinxu felt like that, and she's fancying the new chapter of her life. It was like she's gotten a second chance to paint her life a new future, together with Chen Linyun. It's a new life so much different than before, to the extent that it seemed her identity, her persona had completely changed.
