"Have you rested well?" Chen Linyun asked the newly woken sleeping beauty lying on his chest. He was smiling.
"Mhmmm.." Xue Jinxu grunted in agreement. She was a little disappointed that Chen Linyun did not allow her to help him. She could not grasp his idea of doing it all by himself. He's not a teamplayer. Didn't he know that anywhere in the globe any work will be done a lot sooner if more hands contribute? Most probably his male ego was acting up again.
Her internal complaining was cut short when he heard him say something.
"Do you want to go out with me, say, on a date?" Chen Linyun was gazing at her face, eagerly waiting for her reactions.
The lady's ears would have clapped if it could. Her brows arched. "Pardon?" She turned her full attention to him.
"Xue Jinxu, do you want to go out on a date with me this afternoon?" Chen Linyun repeated patiently and nervously, while keeping his gentle gaze on her face.
"Aww, Chen Linyun. I thought you'd never ask! Where are we going? What's the plan?" Xue Jinxu sat properly. She could not contain her excitement.
"I don't have plans." He admitted. "I just thought maybe we can go out this lovely afternoon and make more memories together. I'd like to do something spontaneous with you. I thought we only have today for our selves together and there are lots of things that we can do, so I didn't choose just one. What would you like to do, my love?" Knowing Xue Jinxu, any plans that he would have come up might be too dull in comparison.
"Do you want to eat out, or go to an arcade, or amusement park or go watch a movie perhaps? How about see a musical or screen play or concert? You want to party in a bar, or do you have some outrageous idea that only you could think of?" Chen Linyun tried to help Xue Jinxu develop her thought process. "But, if it's the latter please prepare my heart for it beforehand. Break it to me gently." He clutched his chest and internally prepared himself for any outrageous ideas that his woman could think of.
In a way he's excited to know what activity Xue Jinxu would pick.
"Mhmmm….."
"How about…"
"Well, let's go to the amusement park! I wanna play outside! It can be tiring, though. Is it fine with you?"
"It's fine. It's perfect. Then, let's go."
"Wait! Let's change clothes."
After a few minutes, Xue Jinxu reappeared in the living room. She's now wearing a maroon long-sleeved cotton shirt and white pleated mini skirt and white rubber shoes. Her hair was tied into a pony tail. She looked like a university student.
From the guest room, Chen Linyun showed himself a little while later. He was wearing the same maroon long-sleeved cotton shirt that Xue Jinxu was wearing. He only changed his top. He was still wearing his black slacks and leather shoes.
Xue Jinxu's face turned sour. "Dear, why don't you change your pants and shoes as well, to something more comfortable and casual?"
"But hey look, our matching couple shirts look good on us! I got your size accurately." She beamed with pride. "I bought the shirts a few months back! It's so cute! Let's take pictures of our twinning OOTD [1]!"
She found the couple shirts while she was strolling in a mall one afternoon. She thought it was quite cute if both she and Chen Linyun could wear it at the same time, so she bought it. His shirt had a print of 'She's a catch' on it while hers had a print of 'He's a keeper'. Instantly she was convinced to buy it.
"Okay, but I didn't bring rubber shoes. It's fine. Don't worry about me."
"You sure?" Xue Jinxu was worried.
'What on earth was she thinking of doing? Are we going hiking or are we doing sports or some sort of physical activity?' Was what Chen Linyun was thinking.
"We will be walking a lot. We have to reach all the four corners of the amusement park and ride all the rides." She clung to his arm. "If you say so, then we're all set, I guess!"
"Let's take a picture!" She took her phone then captured several of selfie pictures with Chen Linyun. Then she stood before him, and once again captured photos of Chen Linyun at different angles.
"I'll take a photo of you, too. Stand there." Chen Linyun instructed. Xue Jinxu readily followed and smiled at the camera.
She scanned the photos in the phone's gallery. "I like this one. Chen Linyun, which photo is your favorite?" She asked sweetly, while tilting her head towards him lovingly.
"This one." He chose Xue Jinxu's solo photo.
"But you weren't there!" Xue Jinxu protested.
Chen Linyun gave out a little laugh. He pinched her cheek gently and playfully with his index and middle finger. "I'll make this my phone's wallpaper."
"Okay. I'll make this one my phone's wallpaper", she showed him one photo of them together, "and this one my screensaver." She showed him her phone again, this time it displayed Chen Linyun's solo photo.
He wrapped one arm around her. "Okay."
Soon after they left Apartment 301 for the amusement park.
It's going to be their most awaited first date. Six months had passed since their camping escapade where they had labeled their relationship as 'almost-couple'. The lady wasn't sure just yet about her feelings back then. Fast forward to just a few weeks back, the lady finally admitted openly how she truly felt for Chen Linyun, and even confessed through video conference.
Today, while still maintaining their 'almost-couple' label, they had acted more like the legit boyfriend-girlfriend tandem. They snuggled, and shared sweet nothings with each other.
And now, they were set for their very first date, with their matching, twinning couple shirts!
Upon arriving, and soon after alighting from the car, Xue Jinxu immediately grabbed Chen Linyun's hand then started running, while shouting gibberish. She turned into an overly excited little kid.
