When Concubine Yun asked to see him, Dr. Luo realized that Miss Qingyi must have saved his families. Luckily, he made a deal with Miss Qingyi, and he knew how to reassure Concubine Yun.

He then hurried to Concubine Yun’s room.

“What do you want me for?” asked he.

“Dr. Luo, am I treating nicely?” asked Concubine Yun, instead of asking the real question.

“Yes, you’ve been nice to me,” replied Dr. Luo, also realizing that she was beating about the bush.

“Well, are you loyal to me then?” continued Concubine Yun, staring at Dr. Luo when enjoying her tea. If he dared to lie, he would never leave this place alive. Because he knew so much about her plan, and he wouldn’t live.

“Ma’am, you can decide if I’m loyal to you,” replied Dr. Luo with an equivocal answer. He neither denied anything nor admitted it, so that Concubine Yun had to guess. That was what Miss Qingyi taught him.

Concubine Yun failed to figure out anything from Dr. Luo’s straight face. He didn’t look nervous, and he gave an equivocal answer. She couldn’t judge if he betrayed her.

If she killed him, she would lose a helper. She could develop another assistant, though. It took time. And she didn’t have so much time to be wasted.

But if he was no longer loyal to her, he might hurt her someday. And how regretful she could be! What should she do?

“Mrs. Luo has been missing you,” said she. This was the only option now, and she would see how Dr. Luo would react. She gambled it, and if something was fishy, she would kill him immediately.

“Thank you,” replied Dr. Luo, “Can I meet my wife and my son later?”

Dr. Luo was glad that she asked.

“Don’t rush,” replied Concubine Yun, “Mrs. Luo has been living a good life. And I have a mission for you. Why don’t you go visit her after you complete it?”

Dr. Luo didn’t look as happy as she expected. Instead, he looked a little worried.

In this case, Concubine Yun was sure that Dr. Luo didn’t know his families were taken away or if they were still alive. If he did, he would have been anxious.

“All right,” said she, “Leave me.”

“Aye,” replied Dr. Luo.

After he left, Concubine Yun thought carefully about it. Looked like Dr. Luo didn’t know what happened. Then who could have done that? Ye Qingyi didn’t know Mrs. Luo at all, so it can’t be her.

Besides, she had been staying in her room recently without going out. And she felt unwell yesterday. She wasn’t strong enough to knock out so many guards who had good marital arts.

Thinking about so much made her head ached. “All right,” she thought, “Since Dr. Luo doesn’t know I lost his families, I can still control him. He will keep working for me as long as he never knows that.”

At this moment, she had no idea that her carelessness would lead to a tragedy. And when she finally knew it, she wished she had killed Ye Qingyi earlier!

In Ye Qingyi’s private mansion, Mrs. Luo woke up. Immediately, she realized she wasn’t in the room she used to live in. Furniture and decorations were totally different. That surprised her.

“What happened?” she thought, “And where am I?”

She got up, pushed the door open and stared, dumbfounded. This was a strange yard and she didn’t know where she was or who took her here.

“Mom, Mom!” yelled Luo Ding, Dr. Luo’s son. He was also surprised while waking up in a strange room and out he walked. Just then he saw his mother coming out of the room next door.

“Son, where are we?” asked Mrs. Luo anxiously, wondering why everything just changed overnight.

“Mom,” replied Luo Ding, “I also want to ask where we are!”

He looked at her mother, but he didn’t know where they were, either. Everything was strange to him, the room and the yard. Who could explain?

Hearing their voices, Wumiao, who had been in the front yard, came back, only to see Luo Ding and his mother staring at each other in total confusion.

That amused her. She walked up and curtsied to them.

“Mrs. Luo, Mr. Luo, don’t worry. This is the private mansion of the eldest miss of the great general,” she explained, “She took you here. Oh, she’s coming soon. Why don’t you get washed and have breakfast?”

“Wait, Miss... The eldest miss of the great general?” asked Mrs. Luo, “Do you mean Miss Ye Qingyi?”

Luo Ding didn’t believe what Wumiao said. Everyone knew the eldest miss of the great general who was a total loser! How could she save them?

“Yes,” replied Wumiao, “I know you’re confused. She’s coming soon. Go have breakfast and she’ll explain to you. I’m not sure about the details. She will dispel your doubts.”

Luo Ding didn’t believe her, but he had to. If it wasn’t Miss Qingyi who saved them, who else could take them here?

“Since we come, take it easy!” said Luo Ding, trying to calm his mother down, “When Miss Qingyi comes, we’ll know what happened.”

Mrs. Luo agreed. Hesitation or worry didn’t help at all. She’d better wait until Miss Qingyi came and explained. Besides, Wumiao didn’t seem like a bad girl.

It hadn’t been long before Ye Qingyi came with Xueqing. Wumiao made some tea for them and left with Xueqing, to train the boys.

“Have you had a good sleep last night, Mrs. Luo?” asked she.

“Yes. Thank you for caring, Miss Ye,” said Mrs. Luo, “But...”

“I know what you’re confused about,” Ye Qingyi interrupted her and explained, “This is a letter for you. Read it and you’ll understand.”

She took out a letter and handed it to Mrs. Luo. The latter opened it and it was from her husband. She and her son read it carefully and without doubt, they understood what happened and who Miss Ye really was.

“Thank you, Miss Ye,” Mrs. Luo said, “My son and I will try our best to help you. Thank you for saving us.”
