They finally reached Queen Medusa’s lair!
After four hours of grueling battle, Li Yi and the others had finally pushed to Demoness’ Ruin’s final node, Queen Medusa’s Lair.
The Snake Tribe was one of the rarest tribes within the Pantheon Continent. They only appeared near Demon’s Ridge and could not be found anywhere else.
Eons ago, the Snake Tribe were in their golden era. However, when the demons from other realms attacked the main continent, they surrendered, which resulted in their current downtrodden state.
Based on the legends, the strongest human, Augustus had personally hunted down the Snake Tribe and came close to eradicating them. However, Queen Medusa personally begged for Augustus’ mercy, which enabled the Snake Tribe to rebuild.
Of course, this came with an unverified rumor as well. They said that Queen Medusa had slept with Augustus for a month before allowing the Snake Tribe to live on.
However, since the rumor was unproven, it was never recorded into the Pantheon Records. The players had only known of it after gaining Worship status at the major cities and gleaning the info from NPCs bit by bit.
Medusa’s Lair was decorated luxuriously, from afar, it appeared that they had entered a royal place. As they stood before the entrance, they could hear the laughter coming from within.
Queen Medusa was sitting on a dazzling throne. Below her, several hundred isises were dancing oddly to entertain their queen.
Queen Medusa had a beautiful face and her upper half was beyond words as she had perfect proportions. She had huge bosoms and a pale complexion. Her small emerald corset was unable to hide the glorious treasure that was contained within. Her snow-white peaks were nearly bursting and her deep cleavage was exposed for the world to see.
Queen Medusa’s hair was comprised of little green snakes, which were truly horrid. However, the worst was her lower half. Emerald scales covered her lower body, and she whipped her long tail back and forth, showing no aesthetic pleasure at all.
Certainly, Mermaid Princess’ external features were similar to hers. However, once Mermaid Princess left the water realm, her fishtail could be morphed into human legs. Li Yi had personally seen Mermaid Princess’ clear white legs, and it was way better than Medusa’s appearance.
Mermaid Princess was able to transform, but Queen Medusa was unable to.
‘The rumor of Augustus and her sharing bed a bed together was definitely just a rumor!’
Li Yi hypothesized.
He had been to Demoness Ruins numerous times. However, he had never fought Queen Medusa before, and this was his first encounter with her.
Big Boy saw the crowd of winding isis, and furrowed his brow,” There’s so many of them, can we use the bug exploit?”
Medusa’s Lair only contained one type of isis, Isis Great Wizard!
Once a battle was initiated, the entrance to the lair would automatically be locked up. The entrance would only open when the battle was over, or if the party was wiped out.
There was not much space within the lair. So the Archer bug could not lure the isis too far. However, if the bugged monsters were too close to the others, the bug would not take effect.
Would they be able to hold out if the hundreds of Isis Great Wizards attacked together?
Li Yi rushed towards Autumn Love as he cried, “Missy Autumn, stop counting your profits and explain to us how you intend to beat this stage.”
Autumn Love had not contributed much this time around. When she was not peeling snakeskins, she was calculating her profits. Li Yi did not know how much inventory space her bag contained, but with a rough estimate, he guessed that she had already peeled off several thousands of snake skins. However, by her expression, it was obvious that her bag still was not full.
“Alright!”
Autumn Love nodded and stopped counting. She motioned for Li Yi and the others to come over and drew a map on the ground.
Eight people, eight positions. They were using an enclosure tactic against the several hundreds of isis.
“Is this tactic viable?” asked Big Boy.
“When fighting Medusa, we’ll need to make sure that the distance between us isn’t too close. Make sure that we maintain a distance of ten yards from each other since the queen will release an undispellable group debuff called Poisonous Blood Reaction. While we’re separated, the debuff won’t do anything. However, if we get too close, the debuff would take effect and continuously reduce our HP. The potency of the poison is much greater than Eukana’s Poisonous Blood as it usually kills the victims within five seconds.
Big Boy shook his head, “How are we going to deal with the isis?”
“The priests would have to use Hand of Salvation, and once invulnerable, someone would need to run to the center of these monsters. Then, Queen Medusa would wipe them out in one fell swoop.”
“What?”
Autumn Love explained, “Medusa’s attacks are indiscriminate. Don’t worry, I’ve beaten this dungeon numerous times, this strategy is sound.”
“The rest of us would need to buff ourselves up, dodge the poisonous mist and make sure that we’re ten yards apart when we’re fighting. Oh yeah, try to position Medusa so that she faces East when she falls…”
“No need for Hand of Salvation, I’ll handle it!”
Li Yi stepped forward and called out Mutated Small Wild Boar.
“Onward!”
Li Yi commanded Mutated Small Wild Boar to run towards the center of the lair to use its ultimate suicidal skill!
“Those idiots Eukana and Angust, how disappointing.”
Queen Medusa stood up and gazed downwards. She lifted her hands as she smiled coldly.
“Nobody move a single muscle!” Autumn Love yelled out a command.
The eight of them remained stationary, with only Mutated Small Wild Boar resisting the monsters at the center.
“Face the wrath of the demonic tribes! DIE!”
Medusa swung her hands with all her might as an emerald ray of light descended from the heavens, striking Mutated Small Wild Boar first and spread to the surroundings after it hit!
It was like a blast from an atomic bomb, the terrifying number of [− 99,999,999] appeared above the hundreds of Isis Great Wizards, obliterating them instantly.
The eight of them remained stationary as the emerald light dispersed. The light dealt no damage to them, but an undispellable debuff had appeared on them.
‘Poisonous Blood Reaction!’
Mutated Small Wild Boar had successfully completed its task and had fallen. Big Boy called out Dark Shield Warrior to charge forward, holding down Queen Medusa in the process.
“Augustus had brought shame to the Snake Tribe, he had caused much humiliation to me. M—My tribesmen… have never forgotten our grudge. All of you shouldn’t be here and should never incite our wrath. However, since you’re already here, I’m very grateful. Maybe I could make something interesting with your blood.”
Queen Medusa continuously shook her snake hair. When the hair fell, they became little snakes and they slithered towards Li Yi and the others…
“Black Hole!”
Big Boy shouted, but as he released the black hole to gather the monsters, he realized that the snakes were invincible, despite having only 1 HP. They were invulnerable to all attacks.
Several hundreds of small snakes were littered throughout the lair and were slithering quickly. Since they were invincible, all Li Yi and the others could do was to flee from them.
“Pew! Pew!”
Two blood arrows were launched at Autumn Love and Lil Girl at the same time. They were getting too close during the fleeing from the snakes, triggering Poisonous Blood Reaction.
“Stay back and maintain your distance,” said Autumn Love.
They quickly got ten yards away from each other before Poisonous Blood Reaction could drain their HP dry.
“Psst…Shh!”
Though the little snakes looked insignificant, their bites were certainly painful. One bite took 1,000 HP away, and once they were done, their bodies would turn red and they would return to Medusa’s side.
“Tch—Tch—”
Li Yi’s reaction was the fastest. He continuously shot arrows at the small red snakes, killing them.
Medusa’s secondary class was an Apothecarist. If she obtains the players’ blood, she would be able to refine a super potent poison.
That was why he had to prevent the small snakes from reaching her at all costs.
“Shoot at Random!”
“Blizzard Spell!”
AOE skills were constantly being released and the party maintained their distance as they dodged the small snakes. During this cycle, they were unable to spare any time to attack Medusa.
The battle with Medusa had two modes, Normal and Hell level. However, they both shared the same ultimate achievement, My Date with the Queen. As long as the player received no damage throughout the battle, they would be able to obtain it. The achievement was a personal one, even if their teammates had died or gotten injured, the achievement would remain unaffected.
Between the hundreds of small snakes that remained invincible unless they received blood and Queen Medusa’s AOE skills, this achievement was no small feat.
Li Yi summoned Violent Bear King and used it as a meat bag for the small snakes to bite, whereas he stood beside Violent Bear and used Shoot at Random from time to time to clear the small snakes.
Queen Medusa had waited for quite some time, but the small snakes had yet to return. In the end, she lost her patience and flung Dark Shield Warrior away and rose from her throne.
As it was a consensus that the dungeon was a Level 75 one, Li Yi estimated that Queen Medusa’s HP was at least 80,000,000.
Medusa stood at the center of the lair, and with her alluring eyes shot out beams of light that swept across her surroundings…
‘Medusa’s Gaze!’
Legends say that the beautiful but malicious Medusa had a unique ability, which turned anyone who saw her face into stone. The beams that were radiating from her eyes right now was her Petrification Beam!
Any players that contacted the beams would turn to stone, and as the ‘petrified’ status was undispellable, it was considered the same as death!
Li Yi was already prepared for it. He took out the Mirror of Amplification and reflected the beam back to her.
The hardest part about facing Queen Medusa was dodging her Petrification Beams. No matter how many members were in the party, they would still own only one Mirror of Amplification. Thus, the mirror was the key to defeating Medusa.
Mirror of Amplification reflected the Petrification Beam, hitting Queen Medusa and petrifying her…
“Eukana, that b*tch. So, she’s been planning on betraying me all along huh, scr*w you, scr*w you…”
Medusa howled in fury as the petrification effect slowly dissipated.
“Attack!”
It was the perfect time to attack since Queen Medusa was unable to move. Li Yi and the others gave their all as they released their ultimates.
“Feel the wrath of the Demonic Tribes!”
After 15 seconds, Medusa’s petrification had worn off. She swung her snow-white hands, and the lair was hit with something similar to Magic Burst Spells as it continuously erupted.
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
The area of effect was greater than Magic Burst Spell. A fist-sized white orb first appeared on the ground, followed by an explosion, which spanned over 20 yards. With a dozen white orbs exploding in a chain, it made dodging it a difficult task.
The rigid Fire Ice was the first to get hit. After suffering through an explosion, her HP had been cut by half. She panicked and ran too close to Li Yi, triggering the Poisonous Blood Reaction. Li Yi ran to the left and so did Fire Ice. Her stubbornness had cost Li Yi his life…
With the main DPS suddenly dead, the others stood there, stunned. With their attention divided, their rhythm was disrupted, and they had allowed a small red snake to get back to Medusa’s side. Its body arched and it shot back into Medusa’s head…
Medusa reached out to the snake that had gotten the blood. After fidgeting with it for a while, she refined a bottle of black potion. With a wave of her hand, she dispersed the black powder within and enveloped the entire lair.
