Suddenly a thought came to Cheng Min and her facial expression turned from anger to sneer with her lip curled, “You really think Young Master sees you as his wife?”

“What do you mean?” Lin Xiaomi looked at her with her eyebrows raised.

Cheng Min let out a meaningful laugh, “You know what, I feel sympathy for you. You think that you’ve managed to marry a rich man, but actually you’re just a plaything to him.”

She leaned close to Lin Xiaomi’s ears and whispered, “How much do you know about him? Did it ever cross your mind that why such a powerful man would marry an ordinary woman like you? Lin Xiaomi, you’re pathetic. Actually we all know why except for you. To us, you’re just like a monkey from a circus. And watching you making a fool of yourself is our greatest pleasure.”

Her fingernails dug deeply into the flesh of her palms. Only that dull pain could help Lin Xiaomi maintain the smile on her face.

She looked at Cheng Min as if she didn’t care, “Who cares if I’m a plaything or a toy? All I know is that what’s written all over your face is how much you’d give to just replace me. It’s a shame that you don’t even have the chance.”

She waved the phone in her hand, “Stewardess Cheng, my phone is dead. Go find me a matching charger and take it to me within 30 minutes.”

Cheng Min looked at her so sharply that it seemed that she meant to rip Lin Xiaomi’s smiling face to pieces, “How dare you order me! Who do you even think you are?”

Lin Xiaomi paid no mind and turned around, “Stewardess Cheng, are you telling me you can’t do such a small thing? Perhaps I need to discuss with my husband whether you’re competent enough to manage a villa as big as this.”

While Cheng Min was still there, Lin Xiaomi deliberately jumped on the bed and posed seductively with her palm lazily supporting her head. She looked at Cheng Min with contempt.

Lin Xiaomi’s beauty was often overshadowed by that larger-than-life personality of hers, but if she determined to seduce a man, the charm that her body gave out unconsciously was unparalleled.

Faced with her unmatched prettiness, a body which made every woman envious and her lip curled evilly, all the servants just froze.

“I’m tired. I’ll take some rest. All of you can leave.”

Cheng Min looked at her complacent face with resentment. Young Master was still here, so she couldn’t make a scene out of this. But she believed that Lin Xiaomi had heard what she just said. And she was just pretending that she didn’t care in front of her.

Cheng Min sneered and walked outside. Those servants dare not stay, so they all turned around and left the room.

Now Lin Xiaomi was the only one in the room.

Her tired arm got soft and she fell on the bed.

What was Cheng Min suggesting by what she just said?

She knew that Cheng Min didn’t mean well and she said that on purpose to crush her spirit, but she was right about one thing.

Why would a man like Leng Yihuang marry her, a woman who had no money or power and who he even didn’t know?

Yes, he treated her nice and his personality wasn’t as bad as she imagined. All in all, he was way better than the old-man, pervert version that she’d drawn in her mind when she first came to this villa.

But, why did he marry her?

What Cheng Min said made her feel like that everyone else knew why Leng Yihuang married her and she was the only one kept in the dark.

So, the reason why he married her was that he saw her as a plaything and a clown?

Or was there any other reasons?

Lin Xiaomi’s face turned slightly pale. Normally she wouldn’t waste so much time thinking about this kind of stuff, but now, she’d already lost too much. Before she got her revenge, her top priority was to keep herself alive.

Leng Yihuang.

What kind of a man was he behind that mask?

That day after Xue Haolin left her house, Lin Xin’er didn’t see him again.

She felt uneasy and she figured that he’d found out something as his attitude towards her seemed to have changed.

But if he did find out something, why wasn’t he here to question her?

Lin Xin’er couldn’t figure out why, but she guessed that it might be because that matter was blown out of proportion. After all there was a death and the police were called.

Xue Haolin didn’t come to see her, so she took the initiative to call him, but most of the time it was his secretary who answered her calls.

Today when Lin Xin’er called him again, Xue Haolin answered it.

She was a bit surprised and there was a touch of delight in her voice, “Haolin? Is that you there? You haven’t answered my calls for a long time. Recently all my calls were answered by Secretary Wang. Are you busy?”

“Mmm.” Compared to Lin Xin’er’s earnestness, Haolin’s answer was embarrassingly indifferent.

Lin Xin’er opened her mouth gently, “Haolin, do have some rest and take care of your body. Work will never end.”

From the other end of the phone came the sound of papers being turned over. Xue Haolin asked impatiently, “Is there anything else?”

Lin Xin’er frowned. She couldn’t stand the indifferent way that Xue Haolin was treating her.

Ever since he came back from abroad, he’d seen her as the apple of his eye. Now she felt like she just hit rock bottom. He got impatient when he was talking to her?

“When we discussed our engagement, my grandma picked a date for us, remember? As it’s just around the corner, the hotel is asking us to go and try the dishes.” Lin Xin’er asked tentatively.

“I’ve got no time for that.” Xue Haolin turned it down emotionlessly.

Though he said no to her proposal that they went to try the dishes, he didn’t say anything about cancelling their engagement. Suddenly hope was reignited in Lin Xin’er’s heart.

It seemed that Xue Haolin was just mad and he didn’t intend to break up with her.

Lin Xin’er said with great care, “I know that you’re busy with work. You can leave these matters to me. Don’t worry. I’ll get everything well prepared. All you need to do is show up at the Engagement Party that day.”

All that Lin Xin’er got was a long, ugly silence from Xue Haolin.

Lin Xin’er pondered, “Haolin, are you mad at me? Actually I’m also mad at myself. Why is my body so weak? If it weren’t for me, Xiaomi’s grandma wouldn’t end up in that accident.”

“I didn’t know that my grandma would do such a thing. I explicitly said no to it. How could I let Xiaomi be deprived of her healthy heart because of me? Especially when I knew that she might die during the operation. I wouldn’t have let that happen. I really didn’t know what was happening. I was unconscious.”

“I’ve meant to apologize to Xiaomi’s grandma. I also want to say sorry to Xiaomi, though I’m not sure if she’ll forgive me. Her phone is powered off, so I can’t get in touch with her. And I’m worried about her.”

Lin Xin’er said emotionally, her voice even trembling with sobs. When she was done, she waited quietly for Xue Haolin’s response.

In the past, had she blamed herself the way she did just now, he’d surely say something to stop her from feeling that way.
