When it was about midnight, Mu Chenyan felt the bed sink a little, and a large warm heater was placed next to her.

Her burning body was filled with the ginger decoction, and now a large heater was attached to her back. This made her feel extremely hot, and she became restless.

The more she shifted about, the more attached the large heater became, and the hotter it burned. She continued to try to lose it by shifting her body.

Seeing that she was moving non-stop, the large burner spoke.

‘Eh? The large burner speaks? Its voice is rather hoarse and sexy…’

It said, “Be good, don’t move. You know that my willpower is not that strong. If you don’t want me to take you now, stay still.”

She felt that the voice of the burner was very familiar, and it also seemed to be annoyed…

This voice triggered memories of someone who was enamored. My, how scary!

Mu Chenyan dared not move about again and drowsily continued to sleep.

At last, she broke into a sweat, and when she woke up in the morning, her cold had gone away.

The next day was Chinese New Year Eve. Early in the morning, the entire Yuan Family was already scrambling about.

The maids had changed into a new uniform as they shuttled between the pavilions, putting in place the fresh fruits and tea that were all prepared earlier on.

The trees in the hundreds-of-acres garden had been neatly trimmed, and lanterns had been hung on the trees. The entire mansion looked very festive and joyous.

The white color of the old-fashioned Hui architectural style paired well with the red lanterns. This kind of classic complementary colors beautified the Yuan Family Mansion in a way that was unique to this season.

At the entrance of Hibiscus Garden, Mu Chenyan was leaning against the door frame as she looked off into the distance whilst draped in thick clothes. There was a faint sorrow in her eyes, but it was not obvious.

This was her first Chinese New Year celebration after being released from prison. This was also her first time celebrating the festival outside of the Mu Family.

The daughters of the common people would often also go through such an experience. After marrying, they either celebrated the festival at their in-laws’ or brought their husband and children to their hometown to celebrate.

However, for Mu Chenyan, the right to choose had been stripped away from her. Apart from the Yuan Family, she had nowhere else to go.

Mu Chenwu had only left her his phone number, but did not mention to her where he was currently residing. Meanwhile, Yan Mei was in a coma in the hospital and had only a faint sense of the outside world.

The bustling scene of the Yuan Family made Mu Chenyan feel scared and lost about the future.

She could not leave the Yuan Family as long as Mu Chenwu sought revenge. Thus, the date of her eventual family reunion was still uncertain.

While she was lost in her thoughts, the man’s deep voice pulled her back to reality.

“Why are you standing there without wearing your shoes?” The anger in Yuan Xuan’s eyes seemed to want to swallow up this disobedient woman!

Early in the morning, this woman had carried the laptop downstairs. He did not expect to find her standing at the door daydreaming after he had washed up.

Mu Chenyan was startled by his roar, and she looked down at the ground. True enough, she had worn wool socks in the morning and went to the small tea room to write some web articles. As she felt tired after some time, she came out to walk about. The wool socks were rather thick, hence she did not notice that she was not wearing any shoes.

“Looks like you’re inherently rebellious and have been spoiled! Yesterday you didn’t catch a cold, so today you’re trying to make yourself sick again so that you can finally be satisfied, right?”

While speaking, Yuan Xuan had already picked her up. She was pressed against his body and smelt the light tobacco smell as she responded plainly, “I don’t feel cold. Why are you always treating me like a child?”

He did not listen to her quibble but carried her upstairs to look for her shoes.

Mu Chenyan did not know whether to cry or to laugh. She really was not deliberately throwing a tantrum like a child – it was because the wool socks were really warm.

However, from Yuan Xuan’s point of view, any arguments were a waste of breathe, hence it was better not to speak at all.

She was his wife but seemed more like his daughter…
