Since Tohru was the only one left to be MAXED for the event, Arata and the other two vacant girls namely Attori and Ruby watched yet again practice of the basketball club. With one of the kings and another of the queens watching them, the two teams did not mind the rigid and fierce training. With members purged from the club, the remaining members had no choice but to shoulder the vacated positions themselves. The kicked out were not part of the main teams, but they were valuable reserves at least. Both for the incoming Athletic Meet and the outgoing third years.

More and more hours were put into training, and the club had gone past the 6 PM action time. Arata was not worried since he would probably go straight home that day. However, he still got cold sweat from the intense atmosphere of the two girls at his sides. Both the school queen and the mad girl were on their phones, reading through what seemed to be articles. They barely looked at the game, but Ruby spared some seconds and glances when Tohru gets to play the ball.

'What are they reading?' Arata took a deep breath and turned to Attori's direction. He knew she would not hide her screen, but looking at her from this angle made it look like he was looking down her collar. The player had no choice but to turn away and sigh. 'I should just ask later.'

Bang! The basket's metal rim shook forcefully as Tohru managed to jump so high for a dunk. Since Tohru got the ball earlier, Ruby paused reading and watched the seconds when Arata was busy. She hummed at the impressive stunt and waited for the next person to hold the ball. The player did not see it, but he figured it was Tohru since everyone was congratulating her.

They were even calling her 'captain.'

It was the first time Arata placed interest in the girls' basketball team— in terms of their positions. Yukari did mention their positions were already given, but he cared too little about it. He only knew enough about it because of his route that involved being the captain of the Basketball team. How it really mattered in court was nothing he paid attention to— not that he had to really play basketball back then. This time, he can see how it affects the ball game at a closer view.

"I guess we trained for too long today. Next time, we'll be going back to the basics. Some of you missed their targets." The coach called out and proceeded with other reminders before closing the practice.

However, before the students could leave to change, there was another bang by the doors of the gymnasium. It was a slightly older male with dark hair and a tough angular face despite the glasses. He wore the uniform of a famed university— a college student perhaps. The other students were puzzled by his arrival, but Arata's group knew him.

Wakaba Keita walked inside the gymnasium and headed towards Tohru's direction. The girl started backing away as their gazes were fixed on each other's. Arata and Attori ran down the benches and intercepted the male before the ex-boyfriend could enter the actual basketball court. The man recognized the player and so he chose to glare at him instead.

"Why are you here again?" The college male gritted hard as he balled his fists in anger.

"I school here." Arata hid his fear and nervousness as he held his breath. The newcomer seemed to be fine with being physical at any moment. "If you're here to disturb Hamada-sempai, you should leave at once."

"You think you can stop me?" The man took a step forward.

The tension wrapping the court did not sit well with Tohru; neither did the damsel in distress spotlight Arata shone on her. She went closer to the site of the commotion and glared at the man in the gym. "Didn't I tell you not to show your face to me again?"

Keita hissed as he changed his aggressive stance into a begging one. "Tohru-san, please let's talk about this! You can't just leave me like that! Tell me what went wrong! I'll fix it!"

"Eh, but there's nothing to fix..." Tohru huffed and crossed her arms over her chest. "It's not working anymore. I don't want to get it 'fixed' either. Just let me go."

"Don't want to..." he echoed a little of her words. He then turned to Arata again. He waved his flexed arm as if restraining a punch towards the player's direction. "You. You must be behind this! You trashed my sister twice, and now, you're taking Tohru-san away from me, too!"

Arata kept his mouth from moving. He stared at the man's temperament, and he knew anything he will say will only help him break into a fight with the god. Denying or accepting the accusations would only make him rage more than he was by then. However, silence was not also a good answer. It would only stall the player until a better answer surfaces.

"What's with this silence?!" Keita only laughed out in annoyance. "Looks like I had to force your tongue out of your mouth!"

The man advanced against Arata, and the player had to push forward to catch the blow. If he had not moved, either Tohru or Attori would act on his behalf. Both women were acclimated to violence— or so it seemed. Whether he was right or wrong, it did not matter by then. He grabbed the man's arms and pushed him so he could not swing his arm for a punch. Even though his Strength was at High, the older male did not budge. The player realized it would take it more than this for the scene to end.

From the normal game perspective, it should be a special action scenario. Momoka's route was littered with these so the player did not question the set-up. Arata would only need to choose which button to press. Dodge or Attack would be flashing on his screen, and the HUD would show a bar with a 'perfect zone' where he could execute the action flawlessly. He would just need to press the screen so that the moving circle would stop at the 'perfect zone.' However, there was certainly no bar or moving sphere at the moment. He had to hold him down on his own.

Even though the male would probably run when the guards get there, Arata had to make sure he would not be able to touch Tohru. He also needed to assure the girls that they do not have to act on it. Unlike yesterday, he came prepared. Activating his skill books earlier, he was able to plan for his actions.

The player gripped on the ex's arms tightly as he lifted his leg and sent a kick towards the other. Unexpectedly, the ex was not an idiot when it came to brawling. He grabbed Arata's ankle, stopping the attack and throwing off his balance. However, the player let go of the other's wrists and trusted the man's firm hold on his leg. He used it as a stepping stone and delivered a handspring kick against the man's chin. The pang that rattled Keita made him let go of the other guy.

Arata did not landed gracefully, but at least it was enough for a quick recovery. He tumbled the landing and rolled to get back to his feet fast. He saw Keita holding his chin, blood dripping from the side of his mouth. He had backed away almost five steps from where he was; Arata did gain distance from where he was also. The player stood up straight as if repeating his previous claim without any words.

"I will kill you..." Keita whispered. He fished from his pocket and pulled out a butterfly knife. He brandished the blade before smirking, revealing his cracked teeth and bleeding gums.

Tohru saw the blade and froze for some reasons. It was the only time Ruby had gotten near them. She went to hold the athlete's arm.

The male went to attack, and it was up to Arata if he would dodge or attack like earlier. With his distance from the girls behind him, he had no choice but feel obliged to attack. It would not be that bad to get stabbed again, but it could be different. Attori did not want to hurt Arata back then; he knew this guy would love that. Relying on the game mechanics, skill books, and his luck, the player went in for a counterattack.

Swish! The blade cut through the air, barely missing the player. The god had ducked to evade and sent out a straight punch against the other's abdomen. The blow, aided by his Strength stat, made Keita back away again. However, as he was pushed back, he struck his blade down and hoped to hit the player. Arata dodged to the side, but it also fumbled his next attack. Both men were dragged away from the women and each other.

"S-Stop it, Keita! It's no use!" Tohru grabbed Ruby's hand as if it channeled courage into her. She started stomping in insistence, her grip crushing the president's delicate fingers. She cared less about it, just like Ruby. "Even if you gut Arata, I will never go back to you!" She glanced at the scared members of the basketball team. It was the only time she got annoyed the boys' team left earlier.

"Shut up, you bitch!" Keita aimed his knife at her. "Why do you think I won't kill you after this?! I already tried my best to take you back! If I can't have you, no one else could!" He went to attack the man again, but he felt a tug from behind.

"Big Brother! No!" Keiko pulled on her brother's shirt. The girl looked like she will collapse at any given moment, and yet she placed strength on her slender fingers. "Not Arata!"

"Argh! Not you, too!" Keita swung behind him, cutting a clean line across his little sister's shoulders. Blood drew on the edge of his knife. "Wait for you turn!"

The attack made her scream in a horrible tone, trembling at the sting of getting cut. She continued to scream as red blotted on her white uniform. She stepped back, panicking about it inside her head.

Before Keita could regain his focus, Arata sprung from the ground and grabbed his wrist and his face. The god gripped at both places, enough to make him drop the knife. He did not know how, but he felt like he could shatter Keita's wrist or crush his jaw with the type of strength he had. Then again, he just needed him to stop. The player decided to slam the big man to the floor instead. Keita might suffer from a concussion, but he should not be killed at least.

However, the monster was coated with adrenaline. He preserved consciousness despite the blow. He used his other hand to grab Arata by the neck and throwing him away. Arata rolled once and wheezed as he tried to clear his windpipe. The man picked up his knife and ran towards the man. Before he could reach the other guy, a basketball slammed against his face, effectively breaking his glasses. He turned towards the women, especially towards Yukari who had thrown the ball.

"Get away from him, you freak!" The best friend threw another ball that Keita deflected.

As soon as the hysteria befell on the women, Attori ran towards the man. Ruby would follow, but she never fought anyone before. All she could do was to keep the other women calm and away from the man's reach as much as she could. Tohru would want to join the fight, but for some reasons, her feet were walking backwards.

Yukari threw another ball, and Keita swatted it away. With an opening, Attori clawed the man's face, enough for him to scream in pain. He then waved his knife which Attori dodge a little better than Arata. Keita used his hand to grab the girl's hair, but an arm went around his neck for a choke hold. The player managed to recover already and join the fight again.

'Why is this scenario running for so long?! Did my slip cost me so much stamina?!' The player pulled the man away from Attori. He could feel the warm blood dripping on his grip, and it also caused his fingers to slip.

Keita managed to shake the man off of him. He would strike again, but the guards had arrive. The man ran towards them and broke through their poor blockade of three people. Keita escaped the gymnasium with the guards chasing after him. Keiko followed him as well as soon as she realized he was gone. The women started crying in relief, but only three women went to Arata.

Even though most of them were there, his first instinct was to look for Attori.
