Chapter 62 My family’s movable assets

The news that I want to skip the next year had completely motivated my three apprentices. All three people were putting all their energy into reviewing their study material. Huang Shulang wants to follow me and skip a grade, but to be honest, his grades in the second grade have been good, but not good enough to allow him to skip a year. Ma Jindong’s situation is also more or less the same. On the other hand, Li Lijuan’s foundation is quite strong, but she hasn’t done much of advanced studying. It would be difficult to keep up with the studies if she were to advance to the higher years in one go. My case is different. During the time that Teacher Lin was staying with me, I learned everything from elementary school to the sixth grade, step by step. My grasping power is naturally not bad, and though Teacher Lin couldn’t finish teaching me, I had self-studied through books and completed the entire curriculum. In order to be safe, Headmaster Han was not intending on letting me skip too many grades. I will skip to the third grade in the next semester, and then after the first semester of the fourth grade, I will skip to the fifth grade. So, I will be jumping a total of two grades. In school, I can sometimes hear the teachers talking about it, saying that this year’s students are quite demonic. During this term-end time, each and every one of them is fighting hard. If it goes like this, the quality of education at Ba Jiao Primary School can be upgraded to a higher level. In a primary school in a remote mountain village like Ba Jiao Primary School, the level of education can be quite mediocre, and the school district would also not care too much about it. They would be more focused on their core school, even though Ba Jiao Primary School is also an allied school, it is next to nothing in comparison. Headmaster Han had been in a good mood of late, and every time he would see me, he would get the urge to pull me aside and talk to me. “Huang Jingyang, how are your preparations for the term-end exams? You must definitely score well, otherwise, I also wouldn’t be able to take care of your matter of jumping grades. These results will be taken to the school district, and then what objections could even the leaders there have.” Headmaster Han placed his hand on my shoulder. “Alright.” I had long surpassed my peers and left them far behind. The curriculum of the second grade was more or less similar to a primary school student’s homework. After all, it couldn’t be too complex. Naturally, I had completed it in full. “Still, you better revise it. You see how the studying atmosphere has risen in our school. After a few more years, our school will become a school district on its own and our school would even become the best school in Changshangzhen city.” Headmaster Han was naturally looking forward to that day. As long as the quality of education goes up, he would have the opportunity to be promoted. “Clouds are high in the sky, wild geese fly to the south, clear and refreshing autumn weather, the magnificent mountains and rivers…..” As soon as I entered the classroom, I heard the students reading in the classroom. Huang Shulang was reading aloud and then shaking his head. I could be considered to be the one who came the latest. This Huang Shulang made quite a bit of fuss and came here first thing in the morning. I had a lot of things that I needed to finish at home. A few days back, Huang Shulang told me that during this term-end period, he wanted to spend his entire time to review his study material and so he won’t be able to help me with my errands. This was more than fine with me, in any case, this guy was more of a hindrance than a help more than half the time. Ma Jindong and Li Lijuan also had similar thoughts. I didn’t have a need for reviewing, the book had long been imprinted onto my mind. Don’t know why, but ever since coming into contact with Primordial Qi, my mental faculties have become especially good. I am able to memorise something by looking at something just once. All the things in the curriculum of Second Grade of Primary School had been memorised. I had even gone through multiple reference books. Therefore, this final exam was certainly not going to be any difficult for me. The villagers were also talking about it, saying that their children were all on the right path. Every day after returning from school and eating food, they would begin studying. Homework was also being completed much more carefully and with much more effort. With the children putting in this much effort to improve themselves, the atmosphere of the entire village had changed. Half-way on the road back to home, Black Bean along with his three wives came to meet me, his master. Red Autumn was also circling around in the air along with its family. Red Autumn’s family are all proud species, and even if they were showing off to me, they were doing it in a haughty and proud manner. Black Bean was somewhat dissatisfied and started howling at the sky. Although on the ground, Red Autumn family is not a match for Black Bean’s family, no matter how fearsome Black Bean may be, they wouldn’t be able to touch even a feather of Red Autumn. While Black Bean was barking on the ground, Red Autumn was happily chirping in the sky. The three little fellows in Red Autumn’s family were even more excessive. They were intentionally flying down and passing right next to Black Bean. Black Bean was too lazy to pay them any head, but the three madams of his family were not so. All the three were chasing after Red Sun, Red Star and Red Moon. Old Yellow was still as oppressive as before, even the three little fellows of Red Autumn’s family didn’t dare provoke him. If Old Yellow became angry, then he could let out a strong moo which was capable of even causing the tiles on top of the house to fall down. One day, Red Sun offended Old Yellow, and as a result Old Yellow got angry. He directly stunned Red Sun and caused it to fall to the ground. Old Yellow nearly trampled it to death in its fury. Fortunately, though Old Yellow was angry, it also recognized that this little fellow was also part of my family. When I was passing by the cattle pen in our house, Old Yellow, who was lying there, stood up. When our new house was being built, the place where Old Yellow lived was also refurbished. Since Old Yellow loves to be clean, the place where it lives is also different from other bulls in the village. Even a glass window was installed for better lighting. I even asked the carpenter to design a movable door latch for Old Yellow. When it is hungry, it can go out for food. In the pig pen, there was Big Flower, Second Flower, and the Little Flower embracing the small piglets. The pig noises could be heard from far away. Grandpa found a pure flower Boar and now he had become a husband to the three flowers. I gave it a very domineering name, Marshal. In the beginning, Marshal was bullied a lot by Big Flower, Second Flower and Little Flower. Now, its suffering had passed, and after it matured, it grew to twice the size of the three flowers. It also had ample spiritual aura. After looking at these movable assets of mine, I walked into the house. Grandpa had already prepared the meal. “It’s cold today, also I couldn’t find any work, so today I am taking a day off.” Grandpa said to me smiling. “Grandpa, you must not go outside in this cold weather. The money that we owe to Kui uncle will be repaid slowly by us. The tuition fee for the next year’s martial arts classes is almost about to be collected.” Rural people are afraid of debt. Owing others feels like a shackle. Grandpa was thinking of earning money as fast as possible to repay the debts. “Grandpa’s health is good and can earn money bit by bit. You can save up your money for future use. Later on, when you go to college, you will have to depend on yourself.” Grandpa said with a bit of moistness in his eyes while letting out a sigh. “Don’t worry. Just wait for a while. I will go to the town and set up a stall for people needing a doctor. There will be a lot of people there during the new year’s time. It won’t be like our Ba Jiao village which many people are not even able to find. The last time many people had said that they had nearly taken the wrong path.” I said. “Did you forget about the matter with Liu Tailong? If you go to the town to make money, you would certainly be harassed by those low-lives. Changshanzhen town is not like our Ba Jiao village. In our village, outsiders won’t dare to make trouble, but in Changshanzhen, you even being a strong dragon won’t be able to suppress the local snake.” Grandpa shook his head repeatedly. Although Grandpa was opposed, I was even more determined in my thoughts. “This new year’s celebration, what others have, how is the concern of us Grandpa-Grandson. It doesn’t matter how others look at us. We just have to make our lives better.” Grandpa used his hands to gently caress my head. “Grandpa, you sit down, I’ll go and fetch the food.” I got up to go to the kitchen. We had a big house, but with only us Grandpa-Grandson living, it felt deserted. Black Bean’s whole family was capable of occupying one room. Red Autumn’s family occupied the fourth floor’s room. Fortunately, with the presence of these intelligent animals, the house didn’t feel like deserted. In the mid-term exams, the Ba Jiao Primary School’s students had scored very high, even higher than some of the top students in the School District’s core school. This caught the attention of the school district and so they especially sent a patrolling examiner. This final exam was a very important part of Primary School and a fundamental test of the school’s teachers. The final exam was conducted over two days. On the first day, the higher grades (fourth, fifth, and sixth grades), the second day, the lower grades. Every class was split into two classrooms for the tests. There were about twenty-thirty students in each class anyways, and with them being divided into two classrooms each, they were placed very far apart in the room. However, this also ensured the fairness of the results. Though for the primary school students, this atmosphere was even more intense and grave, as far as I was concerned, this was nothing to worry about. The patrolling examiner sent by the school district seemed to be most concerned about the room I was sitting in. He stood by my seat several times, looking at my answers. The questions of Second Grade were not really difficult for me. I had finished each and every subject, literature or mathematics, in half an hour, leaving ten minutes to review before handing it over. Han Minghai had originally said that I should take the exams very carefully, and inspect the paper thoroughly even after finishing. However, after me finishing each exam and handing it over within approximately thirty minutes, he felt a bit helpless, but after looking at my sheets, he was smiling once more. Huang Shulang was writing incessantly, a smile ever remaining on his face. Obviously, he had prepared well this time. Although Li Lijuan had finished her exam well ahead of time, she kept checking her sheet again and again, and only submitted her paper when the bell rang. Ma Jindong’s expression was looking serious, clearly, he attached a lot of importance to this time’s exam. After the bell rang and he handed over his sheet, he seemed to be continuing to think about his answers. After the tests, he immediately took out his books from the bag one by one, and after verifying his answers, he immediately felt relieved.
