Chapter 2.1 Wen Rang

Seeing the delivery uncle disappear after the lift door closed, Zhong Zhen continued to knock on the door. "Cousin, open the door! I'm delivering food to you! Aren’t you hungry?"
No sound came from behind it, Zhong Zhen sat on the door and started eating the takeaways. He stood up, wiping his mouth after finishing his portion, and “reflected” loudly, "Cousin, I am at fault."

Cong Rong heard his apology but just as she was about to open the door for him, she heard his fallacies.

"Girls nowadays are always too reserved, how could I ask led you for opinions? I should bring my boss in front of you and push him into your arms instead! Um! That's it! Cousin, I am full already and I have left half of the food for you. I’ve hanged it on the door handle. I am leaving so that you can come out and get it when you are no longer angry. "

At that very moment, Cong Rong realized and was sure that this boy whom she had grown up with, has lost his upright character over the years she was overseas...
The weather is getting colder and colder the following days was as gloomy as Cong Rong's mood. After all, no one would be in good mood after working overtime till late at night almost 24/7.

A new encounter with that man was that weekend, after a heavy snowfall. Cong Rong came back home after lunch and was strolling on the snow in her neighborhood. As soon as she entered the lobby, he saw that man standing at the lift waiting. He was wearing a neat suit with a cashmere coat draped over his left arm. He was standing beside her. The black suitcase he was holding gave a clue that he had gone for a far trip.

Cong Rong has been a lawyer Long enough to  have seen many men wearing formal attire, however, many of them looked rigid or looked like they were selling insurance. Only a handful of them will look good in it.
She glanced at him quietly. It was a hand-made, expensive suit that represented his status. As many would say, gray is the top pick in a man’s wardrobe, it’s modest and arrogant.
Being an expert in reading people and of course  their dressing, she knows that it is not the blazer but the collared shirt beneath it that says something about the net worth of a man. The collar of the man’s shirt was precisely tailored, and the sleeves of the white linen shirt were half an inch longer than the sleeves of the blazer. Perfect.

Cong Rong's eyes glanced downwards, his trousers fitted to his long legs, and its hem touches the shoes at the right length.

When she lifted her head, she saw him tugging at his tie. His long, graceful fingers bent slightly to reveal the sharp joints, and as the hand moved, Cong Rong’s heartbeat was surging, how sexy.

Stop looking, stop looking! Cong Rong's kept reminding herself, but her eyes were reluctant to move away.

After a few seconds, she turned around decisively. She needs another stroll in the snow to calm down.

The lift door opened, and at the corner of his eyes, Wen Shaoqing got a glimpse of the person leaving. He smiled and entered the lift.

Wen Shaoqing went home and took a bath, changed into fresh clothes before heading out. When he walked past the garden, he saw his new neighbor in a casual outfit standing next to a group of children who were jumping happily, stomping and playing with snow. She looks so different from how she looks right after work. He looked at her for a while and left with a smile.

The road was covered with snow, the temperature was low, and ice was forming. Wen Shaoqing didn't drive and took a few the subway towards the south of the city.
When he reached the destination, he walked a bit more and reached the entrance of a courtyard. A strong scent of medicinal herbs can be smelled just by standing at  the door. The smell grew more prominent in the cold wind. He stood at the door and took a deep breath of the smell before knocking on the door.

Three knocks and that was it, Wen Shaoqing waited quietly for a while before seeing the door open from inside. He smiled happily, "Grandma."
The silver-haired old lady greeted him, “ You are back. I guessed it would be you, no one has such kind of patience after knocking the door, they don’t like to wait. And you know that your grandma is old and slow.”

Wen Shaoqing closed the door, put his hand over her shoulders intimately, and helped her walk in. "Well, I just arrived this noon, I come to join yall for dinner, and... to get my dog."
Grandma laughed, "why? Are you still trying to hide from us the fact that you named him Rang Yi Rang (Excuse me in Chinese)? As soon as your grandfather called your Uncle’s name, your dog will run happily to him, we didn’t take very long to figure you named him after your uncle. How can you be so naughty?"

"Hahaha, where is grandpa?"
"Your aunt is sick, your cousin came to get some medicine for her, your grandfather is with your uncle making herbal decoction in the kitchen!"

Wen Shaoqing raised his eyebrows, "Xiao Ziyuan is here too?"

Wen Shaoqing ’s uncle Wen Rang is the youngest son of Grandpa Wen, only a few years older than Wen Shaoqing. Although they are uncle and nephew, they grew up together under the care of Grandpa Wen from a young age. Wen Shaoqing doesn’t have the habit of addressing Wen Rang as Uncle. A few years ago, Wen Rang, who was young and famous in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, went to a temple on a mountain without leaving a word. No one has any idea why he did that. It was probably because he was there for too long, eating and using up resources there that the temple wanted him to leave. He then placed a sign in the temple and started curing illnesses for those that came to him. He didn't care whether his business was good or bad, but he spent his time casually like he wanted every day. He was taught by Grandpa Wen (his father) and his vetting skills are superb. His fame spread after a period of time and the number of people looking for him to find remedy gradually increased. Many of them came from other places all over the country and he made some money from helping them. He paid his earnings to the temple as fees for staying there, the leftover were given to it as donations.

He stayed there for a couple of years. Some time ago, Wen Shaoqing shanghaied him to come back home and he hasn’t been able to find a chance to leave just yet.
