Jing Yichen turned her around to face him. He held her palm-sized face in his hands and said, “You are not allowed to get upset because of their calls.”
He had not told Shangguan Ning that Xie Zhuojun was dying. Would she burst into tears upon hearing that, when she already had such a sad expression on her face right now?
The thought annoyed Jing Yichen.
Shangguan Ning burst into laughter. She slipped her hands around his waist and smiled. “I am not upset on their behalf. I am just disappointed that people are always so tricky. They only think of me when I can be of some use to them. At that time, they speak in such a polite way and when I am of no use, they just want me to disappear from the earth as soon as possible. Am I that stupid to live under their shadow forever and to be manipulated by them all the time?”
