Epilogue

Spectral Schools

Translation: Yamaking

TL note: Reference to Spectral Souls (english localization), an old TRPG which had an MMO in Japan. The original release in Japan was called 幻想神域 -Innocent World- and is now known as 幻想神域 -Cross to Fate-

The head teacher scolded mew… Even though Nekohime-san did so meowch… She just can’t put meowp with this.

The crestfallen Nekohime-san was sulking in the decorated room of the Modern Electronic Communications Game Club.

“…Why did something like that happen again?”

“He said playing around in an online game with your students to proudly wave around the school’s emblem is completely against the general principles of net literacy… Argh darn it! It’s exactly as he said! That’s why I couldn’t get a word in, being a teacher myself.”

“I guess that really put you at a loss for words huh?”

That’s why I thought Sensei would put a stop to this plan.

“It’s fine. I knew what it entailed after all.”

Sensei looked a bit into the distance as she blurted out,

“At the very last moment, after working so desperately hard… The moment you could cheer for victory was finally realized. The moment I heard that and thought about it was when I decided it would be alright to go with it. Sensei has properly provided you with an opportunity to learn something new. I don’t regret anything about that at all.”

“…You’re really cool you know that? Nekohime-san.”

“I know right? Did you fall in love with me all over again?”

Don’t get so full of yourself alright?

“So how about your career evaluation then?”

“Sto—p i—t!”

She cried and sobbed. Ha, serves you right.

“So then, how is the exhibit going?”

“It’s fairly popular you know? So far, there hasn’t been anyone who plays LA that has come to look, but the other gamer kids look like they’re quite impressed with what they saw.”

“That’s good to hear.”

Having reactions tantamount to only ‘What the heck is this?’ would be a bit depressing after all.

At least getting them to think ‘Oh hey, nice job’ is satisfying enough for me.

“There’s even a number of them applying for the club you know? Look, there’s even a cute first year mixed in there too.”

“Please hurry up and get rid of that right away.”

After I said that with a wry smile, Sensei looked a bit disappointed as she laughed and said,

“This club is really just full of nonsense, isn’t it?”

“You said it.”

“What this? Ms. Saitou and Rusian, you were both here?”

Master arrived at just the right moment. I wonder if she’s done with her student council duties?

“Sup Master. It looks like it’s going pretty well.”

“However, it still doesn’t seem to match up compared to the other clubs.”

As Master said that, she then seemed a bit happy as she glanced over the number of names in the visitor list.

“Ah that reminds me Master. There’s something I’ve been wanting to ask for a while, may I?”

“What’s the matter?”

“It’s about that thing you said when we defeated Batz. You said that that was the second-most beneficial moment that you’ve used your own money.”

“Indeed I said that.”

It’s because you declared it so proudly that I remembered.

“Then when was the time that you thought was the most beneficial one?”

“…Is there even a need to ask such a thing?”

A gentle smile appeared on Master’s face, the likes of which she normally wouldn’t show, as she caressed the PC in front of her.

“It’s this. It was the time when I first bought my partner here.”

In the screen of the locked PC, you could see the Maegasaki High’s emblem plastered all over Fort Cantor.

And right in the middle of it all was Apricot, standing upright with crossed arms like a Deva.

And I can’t really explain it, but it looked to me as if he was quite proud standing amidst all that.

My next destination was Ako’s class.

It was a pretty rare sight, given how they’re managing a refreshment stand even though they’re only first years.

As I got closer, I could see the inside of the room filled to the brim.

In addition, I could also hear clamorous voices coming from inside.

“Hey Ako-chan, what do I do about this?”

“Tamaki-saaan? Where’s the tea?”

“Eeeh? I, I don’t know!”

Ah, I see. Everyone’s doing that on purpose.

They’re all bullying the clueless Ako just because she’s their head maid.

“I can’t take this anymooooooore!”

“Whoa there.”

“Hyau?!”

Ako, who was on the verge of tears, burst out from the classroom.

Don’t tell me… Is she trying to run away?

“Hey now, what are you doing running away at this point?”

“Rusian! Buuuuuuut!”

“Come on now. You’ll regret it if you run away now you know?”

“Uuu… I feel like I’m going to regret not running away instead…”

Even as she said that, Ako reluctantly headed back to the classroom.

As me and Ako were walking back, I could feel the grins and stares of the whole class on me but— Bear with it, bear with it…

And then, Ako turned her back on me as she began taking deep breaths.

When she suddenly turned back to face me, she flashed a huge smile as she gave a small bow.

“Welcome back, dear?”

“That’s not how a maid is…”

It can’t be helped.

This girl isn’t my maid after all. She’s my wife.

Contrary to me, who was giving a wry smile, Ako seemed to be completed satisfied.

Afterword

Translation: Yamaking

I’ll be using the Region Chat.

It’s been a while, or for the others reading for the first time, nice to meet you.

This is Kineko Shibai.

“Netoge no Yome Onnanoko Janai to Omotta?” is surprisingly already at Lv.4.

There are so many volumes now that I’ve almost ran out of chats to use for the opener of the afterword.

This is wholly due to all of you readers. I’m truly very thankful.

There have been worries here and there if I’m about to run out of materials for jokes soon, but fun things happen everyday in the world of net games. ‘There’s no way I could ever run of material for this!’ is what I happily reply to them every time.

Thinking about what was just said on a different perspective, the author is always playing a net game somewhere everyday.

I believe being told,

Kineko Shibai-san, you’re always online aren’t you? ^^

is pretty much inevitable.

I’m not shocked about it at all. It’s just that it may make my chest hurt a little.

This novel may actually be living off of the author’s miserable experiences like this.

By the way, this may be a personal story, but it’s a story about the thing I wrote before with ‘My in-game wife from an old game I used to play cheated on me with another girl so I divorced her’.

I had an opportunity to talk to her again after a few years, so I asked her: ‘Why would you do something like that?’. To that she replied, ‘In the first place, I never told you once that I loved you right?’.

‘Then you should’ve just rejected me in the first place!’, is what I thought to myself.

From then on, whenever it came to in-game marriages, I would just marry my character to my other alt account.

I’ve finished using the Region Chat.

Since I’m done using the Region Chat, it’s time for the credits.

To the illustrator, Hisasi-san. Thank you for the very cute illustrations this time as well. I’m terribly sorry for saying ‘I know it would definitely turn out great!’ every time and irresponsibly leaving everything up to you.

To my Editor-san who just wouldn’t play net games and says ‘I won’t play net games so I can see this from point of view of a reader!’. I’m truly sorry for causing you trouble every time, but I still won’t give up on recommending you net games to play.

And lastly, to everyone who has purchased this book, I give you my greatest gratitude.

Well then, if fate would permit it, let us meet again.

This was Kineko Shibai.
