Bo Bing starts supsecting something is not quite right…
I had just taken two sips of the milk when Yu Yin came in. She saw Ye Zhengchen, called out a hello and put down a basket of fruits on the table.
She took two fresh peaches from the basket, " I will go wash the peaches."
The fruits were tempting, and I couldn't help look at two she picked up. It was just then that I noticed that Yu Yin used only one hand to pick up both the peaches. Her other hand was empty. I wondered why she wasn't using both her hands when I saw her deliberately tap Ye Zhengchen's shoulder twice with the index and middle finger of the other hand.
This was similar to what I had seen Ye Zhengchen do several times. For some reason, this little action left a profound impression on me
Ye Zhengchen showed no outward response. He took a paper towel to wipe my face. I didn't say anything. I continued to sip the milk.
A few minutes later, his phone rang. In Japan, one is not allowed to answer phones in the hospital ward. Ye Zhengchen quickly got up.
" I'll take this call."
When he went out , I felt a moment of unease.
I am not a person given to fancies, but my woman's intuition told me something was not quite what it seemed..
I got out of the bed, put on my shoes and limped to the door.
I didn't know whether I had expected this, but I could see Ye Zhengchen and Yu Yin talking.
Yu Yin's back was towards me. I couldn't see her face. I could see Ye Zhengchen's face but there was no expression on it.
I tried to get a bit closer and listen to what they were saying, but this caught the eye of Ye Zhengchen.
He didn't show any panicked reaction when he saw me. Instead, he calmly took out his wallet from his pocket, extracted a bank card, and handed it to Yu Yin. He said something to her.
I hesitated and walked slowly towards them. " What are you guys talking about ?"
As soon as she heard my voice, Yu Yin immediately turned.
Her face was red and there were clear tear tracks down her cheeks.
"Nothing, I just gave her back the money for the hospitalization", Ye Zhengchen said.
Yu Yin took the bank card from his hand, then turned around and smiled at me. Her eyes were red and swollen.
" I am sorry. I need to go now."
She almost ran into the elevator.
"Why was she crying?"
As I asked him , I promised to myself that I would believe whatever he told me. I did not want any misunderstandings between the two of us.
But as it turned out , sometimes asking a man to clear a misunderstanding would only force him to lie and lie again.
He frowned and seemed reluctant to answer my question
" Fine. Don't tell me ", I turned away coldly.
With every step I took away from him, my heart sank bit my bit into a deep, dark abyss..
" She wants me to forgive her", he rushed towards me and blocked my way.
" She said it was too dark, your bike did not have any lights , so she wasn't able to see you.."
I clearly remembered that the lights on my bike were on
On a dark night, not having the bike lights on was illegal. I had once been caught by a policeman who had lectured me for ten minutes. After that, I never forgot to turn them on.
I didn't know why Yu Yin had not seen me , or why she wanted to find an excuse. That was not important, What was important was what was happening between her and Ye Zhengchen
I turned back and asked him, " What did you say?"
" I told her to get lost."
I was silent for a long time.
" How can you curse like that? Aren't you a gentleman?"
" She almost killed you !", his voice rose by an octave. Angrily he said, " You ask me to smile and talk to her ? Doesnt it matter that she almost killed you?"
I was confused by his reaction. Finally I smiled. ' There are so many women out there. Even if I were killed, you would soon find another one."
He took my hand. The black band of his watch shone under the white lights of the hospital. On the band, a clear word was engraved: 'Girl."
Later, he asked me seriously, " Girl, did you really forget to switch on the bike lights?"
"Yes, I forgot", I said, "Brother, you were a little rude. You should apologise"
"Ok"

The next day, when Yu Yin visited, Ye Zhengchen took the initiative to draw a chair for her. Yu Yin was surprised for a bit, then she quickly said, " Thank you!"

After this, Ye Zhengchen and Yu Yin's relationship improved a lot. They would occasionally chat with each other or simply say hello.
After I was discharged from the hospital< I invited Yu Yin for a dinner. She looked closely at my home. I had, of course forgotten to stack the quilts we had used in the morning or to wipe off the tally marks on the wall
" This is the number of times my boyfriend tutored me", I said, as I folded the quilts.
" You must have an excellent relationship"
"It's ok", I shrugged, " I think it's still too early to tell. We have been together less than three months"
" Three months . This is the period of passionate love."
" Yes. It's still too early. Once time goes by, we will know for sure."
Yu Yin did not reply. She kept staring at the tally marks on the wall
A few days later, she invited me to come to her home

She drove me to her home. On the way there were a lot of convenience stores, many of them closer to her than the one where I worked.
Yu Yin's home was similar to the home that I dreamed of. White picket fences enclosed a house with a small garden. Yellow tulips bloomed in the garden
A long brick path down the garden led to white wooden door. A wind chime was hanging on the door.
As she opened the door, a lovely aroma from inside the house greeted us.
Just opposite the door , there were French windows. Light green curtains were drawn over the windows.
The wind blew in and rustled the curtains, creating a green shadow on the floor..
Yu Yin said, "I'm sorry but he always wants the curtains to be drawn over the windows."
Author's note: Do you think the girl is silly? She isn't. Infact her observation powers are too sharp…
