Chapter 50 :Love continues..
In the soft light of the dawn, I awoke to find myself lying in the arms of a beautiful male in my room, on my bed.
It was like so many other mornings in my memory from a long, long time ago.
I sighed and remembered that last night I had given him permission to share my bed.
“ Why did you take advantage of me while I was sleeping?”
“ After you fell asleep, you snuggled into my arms”, Ye Zhengchen answered.
If my previous habits were anything to go by, I could not rule out the possibility of this happening.
He dragged me across the warm beds and into his arms again. He hugged me so tightly to him that I couldn’t breathe for a second.
“ Did you have a nightmare yesterday?”
“ No. I didn’t dream of you.”
If I told him the truth, that I always dreamt of him, that I always dreamt of our entanglement and his eventual deception, it would probably break us apart.
‘ Then who were you dreaming of?” he smiled at me. Every time I saw this smile, I dont know why my heart tightened. It was as if I was afraid he would draw me in another trap.
“ I dont remember”, I was afraid that I would upset him if I told him the truth. I continued vaguely,“I just remember that when I woke up I was really frightened and promptly forgot my dream.”
“ Am I very scary?”
I looked up at him. Maybe it was the light, but his face looked strangely solemn, a bit sad. I had the feeling he was struggling to come to terms with something
“ Brother, you are not scary at all… but I haven’t woken up in a man’s arms for three years. I feel a bit uncomfortable.”
Ye Zhengchen smiled then and sat up. He looked like a cat who had just eaten the cream. “ Doesn’t matter. You will adapt slowly.”
He hadn’t changed even a bit, but I still couldn’t help being tempted by him. A few softly spoken words, his unique fragrance and I was in seventh heaven.
I still harboured a suspicion that he had fled to Japan to escape from a relationship gone wrong. How would you trust a person like him with no controls over his urges and no principles ?
Oh, now I remembered that his father was a commander in the army. I didnt now what kind of person his father was. But looking at how Ye Zhengchen spent his life, I was a bit worried.
When I thought of him like this, my good mood disappeared and I could only sigh deeply.
Ye Zhengchen stared at me for a while as his smile faded. “ Are you feeling sorry for him again?”
I shook my head. “I am worried about my father’s health.”
With his current physical condition, how was I going to tell him that Zhong Tim and I had broken up?
In case he learnt about Ye Zhengchen and I, his heart may not even be able to take it.
“ This thing between you and me … I don’t know if he can accept it.”
He frowned at me, “ Are you saying that I am such a rogue that he cannot accept me?”
“ Do you really want to marry me ?” I asked him, “ or are you just playing with me?”
“ What did you say?”
I sat up and looked at him seriously, “ Have you divorced Yu Yin?”
“We were never married!” he corrected me forcefully.
In view of all my previous experiences, I was not going to believe him so easily.
“ Don’t you have kids?”
Ye Zhengchen was so inflamed that he clenched his teeth.
“ Was she holding a child while she showed you a paternity report? Did you believe that the child was mine?”
I really didn’t care, but my father would not be able to stand the stress.
“ Girl, believe me, I have nothing to do with Yu Yin.”
I leaned forward and placed my forehead on his shoulder. “Please don’t lie to me anymore. Just tell me the truth.”
If this happiness that is within my grasp again escapes , I would go crazy.
Ye Zhengchen did not say anything but his arms tightened around me.
I had never imagined that there would be another morning like this again in my life. I was leanin against his shoulder, my palm on his chest. I could clearly feel his heartbeat. It was a steady, soothing rhythm.
I closed my eyes. This man was my destiny.
