President Grant was anxiously waiting for their reply. He wanted to show off his children to the whole world. Even though he cannot acknowledge Alexa as his daughter, at least the people would know she's related to him somehow.
"So? What do you all think?" President Grant's face was showing anticipation from their answer.
Daniel and Alexa both nodded to each other first before replying in unison. "Yes! Hahaha!" And with laughter from being in sync.
President Grant joined the laughter, and the whole room was suddenly filled with a harmonious atmosphere.
Ria, Logan, and Andrea were listening from the threshold of the parlor. They decided to be out of view and stand guard by the threshold of the room, in case they were needed.
Two hours passed by without the father, son, and daughter realizing the time. Not until President Grant's Assistant Aid came to inform him that they only have half an hour to prepare and change for the meeting.
President Grant was wary that he has to part with his beloved children. Unfortunately, he has a responsibility to the people of The United States of America, and whether he likes it or not, the visit must come to an end. He acknowledges what his Assistant had informed him before turning back his attention to his children.
"I'm staying at the Presidential suite at the Spaniard Hotel, and I would be staying overnight and fly out tomorrow. How about having a night cup with me after dinner? "President Grant asked his children with excitement visible on his eyes.
Alexa replied first, "I would love that!" She then looked at Daniel, who has a half smile plastered on his face.
"Sis, do you know that you look so adorable the way you had excitedly replied. You reminded me of myself when Dad told me for the very first time that I have a baby sister. Hahaha!" Daniel teased his younger sister. "And yes! I would also love to have a night cup with Dad and you! Hahaha!"
President Grant was getting ready to leave when he remembers Andrea. "By the way, where is that young lady... your cousin from the Philippines. What was her name? Did she make it alright?" He asked with a kind tone of voice that made Andrea almost in tears.
To hear President Grant inquired about her well being was something she had never dreamed of in her entire life. Andrea started wiping the small teardrops that about to fall from her eyes when Ria saw it and gave her a sisterly hug.
Alexa's eyes widened when she heard her Dad's inquiry, and she quickly shouted for Andrea to come. " Andrea! I know you out there eavesdropping, come here and greet the President!" She screamed loud enough to wake up the dead.
Daniel's face was full of anticipation to see Andrea. He couldn't sit still once he heard that she's up and about and out there listening to their conversation. His face suddenly brightened up he then put a blank look on his face and sat straight like a male God.
This action was visible to President Grant's hawk eyes. 'Hmmm? I sense something brewing here.' He secretly smiled at his thought of his son, finally finding someone attractive.
Andrea came with a timid look on her face. She put the sweetest smile she could conjure before giving her full attention to President Grant. "Good morning! Mr. President sir!" She then turned and looked straight at Daniel with the same demeanor. "Good morning! Mr. Grant, sir!" in a barely audible tone of voice.
However, Daniel heard it clear how she called him 'Mr. Grant, sir!' the contour of his face that was blank was now showing sadness in his eyes. 'He couldn't understand why he felt a twinge of pain in his heart when Andrea called him sir. He doesn't like the idea of Andrea thinking of him as sir, and he wants her to think of him only as Daniel. Is this what it called love?' Daniel thought while looking straight at Andrea...
President Grant and Alexa saw everything, and both have a half smile plastered on their faces. They looked at each other and questioning each other without Daniel knowing what his father and sister were doing.
'Are you thinking of what I'm thinking?' Father and daughter were saying with each other's eyes...
