Night had fallen on the tiny village. There was no moon, no lighting. It was a place forgotten by the modern world.

At the edge of the village was a farmhouse. Earthed walls were fenced around a few traditional tiled roof houses, which looked miserable compared to the rest of the farmhouses in the village.

This was Song Jun’s home.

In the night-time, three figures emerged from the woods. They sneaked stealthily to the walls of the courtyard and then jumped over them.

Ning Tao activated his power of sight and smell and very quickly got a good grasp of the situation inside the farmhouse. Inside one of the rooms lived two people, and another lived one person. The other two rooms were a kitchen and a toilet respectively.

Almost at the same time, Qing Zhui and Bai Jing stuck out their tongues, using it to detect their “prey”. Two beauties wagging their tongues around in the air was actually quite an unbearable image.

Ning Tao was suddenly reminded of a viral Internet video clip—”it’s time to showcase your real deal”. However, even the so-called skills of the clip’s adept female performer would pale in comparison to Qing Zhui and Bai Jing.

“No need to look anymore,” Ning Tao pointed at the room where one person lived in, “That guy we’re looking for is in that room. The people in the other room are probably his parents.”

“Leave the job of silencing people to me. I’ll go kill his parents,” Bai Jing said as she was about to head to the room with the two people inside.

Ning Tao stopped her. “It was Song Jun who had committed the crime. Not his parents. We can’t kill innocent people. I’ll go knock them out, and that’s good enough.”

“Then we’ll go catch that guy,” Qing Zhui said. A pale green light flickered in her eyes.

“Don’t touch him first. Wait until I’m done,” Ning Tao urged, then headed to the room of Song Jun’s parents.

The door of their room was latched. Ning Tao retrieved the Blade of the Solar Eclipse from his small medicine chest and unlatched the door effortlessly, then walked in.

The room was pitch-black. A Chinese herbal smell filled the air, along with a stench of mold. After opening the door, a ray of faint light shone inwards from the outside, and the environment of the room became vaguely visible. The furnishing of the room was austere. There were only a bed and a wardrobe which was missing one of its doors, and also a greasy-looking small square table.

A couple was in bed. Both the man and the woman were over 50. Their faces were wrinkled, absent of any radiance, which was a sign of vitamin deficiency. These made the couple’s living condition apparent. Their impoverished life could barely guarantee them the most basic necessary nutrients.

Ning Tao took out a Sacred Needle and pricked each of them once with it.

The couple was initially already fast asleep, and after being pricked, not even the sound of thunder could possibly wake them up.

Ning Tao left the couple’s room and closed the door. When he stood in the corridor, he saw that Song Jun’s bedroom door had already been opened, Qing Zhui and Bai Jing were already inside. As he walked over quickly, the image of Zhou Ying’s pale and lifeless body surfaced to Ning Tao’s mind. His evil side was gradually awakening.

In the room, Song Jun was fast asleep. A few empty beer bottles were by his bedside. There were smells of braised duck and beer in the air. There was even a computer in his room. His parents were so malnourished and frail, yet he was living a pretty decent life, with meat to eat, beer to drink, and could even surf the net.

Just based on this sole observation, Ning Tao had confirmed that Song Jun was definitely guilty of being “unfilial to parents”.

Ning Tao looked at Song Jun’s right middle finger, which was wearing a jade green petrified wood ring. Even though the ring looked like jade, it was actually a little brownish red inside. That was a trait of petrified wood. When he saw the ring, his nose had also detected its scent, which was identical to the scent he had picked up from Zhou Ying!

Song Jun appeared to be soundly sleeping, and could even be having a pretty good dream. Yet, Zhou Ying was lying in the freezing cold mortuary refrigerator, unable to wake up. Her mother was also suffering from immense grief. It was unsure whether she could even make it through this ordeal.

Qing Zhui and Bai Jing turned back to look at Ning Tao.

Ning Tao nodded. His voice was cold. “It’s him.”

Bai Jing reached out and patted Song Jun’s face.

Song Jun opened his eyes and saw two people standing by his bedside. He was got a fright instantly, rolling down his bed. When he had picked himself up again, a 30 cm blade had appeared in his hand.

That knife was an antique. It was used by Japanese soldiers to perform harakiri during World War II, called wakizashi.

The knife was a match with the murder weapon in question.

“Who are you?” With the knife in his hands, Song Jun appeared to be very nervous. He was moving with his back faced to the wall as he spoke, the knife in his hand was also wielded before him, pointed towards both Qing Zhui and Bai Jing.

Nobody spoke.

Smack!

A light noise. An incandescent lamp in the room lit up. The darkness of the room was immediately dismissed. Everyone’s faces were instantly visible and bare in the light.

Song Jun’s face was bony, the shapes of his eyes were droopy, his brows were thick. His gaze was menacing. He appeared to be scrawny, yet his muscles were defined, which made him appear particularly ferocious.

“Damn it, who are you people really?” Song Jun yelled angrily, “I’ll kill you all if you don’t tell!”

Qing Zhui turned back to look at Ning Tao. “Brother Ning, the old rules?”

Ning Tao said, “No rush. I have a few questions for him.”

Just as Ning Tao had finished speaking, Song Jun suddenly tackled Ning Tao. He was very clever. Two women and one man had barged into his room in the middle of the night. When he had the man killed, the remaining women would not be a threat to him.

However, if he had known what kind of women these two were, he probably would not have chosen Ning Tao as his target.

Just about the same instant, a pale green shadow flashed by, Song Jun’s right hand which was holding the wakizashi was mutilated at the wrist and fell to the ground. Blood sprayed out of his wrist just like a blood fountain. How frightening!

It was Bai Jing. In the next instant, her snake claw had stabbed into Song Jun’s abdomen. However, it was not a thorough stab, just a few inches deep. She wanted Song Jun to suffer, rather than killing him.

“Ah—” Song Jun shrieked.

Qing Zhui grabbed the mutilated hand from the ground and stuffed it into Song Jun’s mouth, instantly silencing him.

Within two to three seconds, Song Jun instantly fell from earth to hell. His guts and ferociousness had been completely annihilated in such a short moment. He was probably the only person who knew the feeling of biting into one’s own mutilated hand.

“Sister, it’s my turn,” Qing Zhui said.

Bai Jing said, “You already carry too many sins with you. Just let me do it.”

“But if you do it, wouldn’t your sins also increase?” Qing Zhui said.

Bai Jing said, “Silly girl, I’m your older sister. What’s wrong with me helping you to shoulder some of your burdens?” She looked at Ning Tao. “Who made you marry such a special man? Don’t you think so, Brother Ning?”

Ning Tao did not respond. His gaze was scarily cold. A fire of anger, which could burn down everything at any moment, was blazing inside him. At this moment, he was at the peak of his apathy. It was like there was a dark block of ice in him, not a degree of warmth, not a shred of feeling.

Qing Zhui pulled Bai Jing’s hand, and Bai Jing kept silent. She also feared Ning Tao when he was in his evil mode.

Ning Tao walked towards Song Jun, speaking nothing at all, but it was like he was carrying with him thousands and hundreds of resentful ghosts, threatening and menacing. Just the intense murderous aura alone was enough to make anyone experience the feeling of death!

Song Jun used his left hand to remove his right hand from his mouth, and held tightly onto his broken right wrist, attempting to stop the bleeding. However, it was completely futile, blood oozed out from his wrist uncontrollably. His lower body was drenched as if he had just emerged from a pool of blood. The immense pain had left his body trembling, his eyes were filled with fear.

“Scared?” Ning Tao knelt down beside Song Jun who had collapsed to the ground. He slowly put down his small medicine chest as he spoke, and took out a few Sacred Needles from it.

Song Jun voice trembled as he spoke, “You… you… who are you really? What… what do you want?”

Ning Tao said, “I’m a doctor. I can save you, but you need to answer a few questions of mine.”

“What… what do you want to ask?”

Ning Tao stated calmly, “Did you murder a Shan City Medical University student named Zhou Ying? You tortured her, murdered her, then made use of the garbage truck, dumping her body in the garbage dump beside the campus, am I right?”

“I… I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Song Jun’s eyes were dodging.

A cold smile appeared on Ning Tao’s lips.

Qing Zhui said in response, “Brother Ning can’t lay a finger on him yet. Sister, prick him.”

Just as she finished speaking, Bai Jing clawed right into Song Jun’s thighs.

With a sound, the clawing had promptly left five bloody holes in his thighs.

“Ah—” Song Jun was going to shout, but in the next moment, Bai Jing’s snake claws pressed into his face. His face was torn, blood covered his face.

Bai Jing said, “Try shouting again and I’ll slit your mouth.”

Song Jun bit his lips forcefully, afraid of making another noise. Yet, his pain had not reduced with his lip-biting. His body was shaking in pain.

Ning Tao’s voice was cold. “Do you want me to ask again? I’ll ask again, and I can guarantee that the process of your death would be extensively prolonged, that you’ll regret coming to this world.”

“Yes… yes, it was me… Don’t kill me…” Song Jun finally caved in under the combination of agony and fear.

Actually, these evil people were often weaker and feared death even more than ordinary people. They often concealed their weakness and incompetence by enforcing violence on powerless people.

“What about the five other people?” Ning Tao asked.

“It was me…”

“Why did you kill them?”

A sense of bitter resentment flashed in Song Jun’s eyes. “I hate them! None of them are good, they all looked down on me! I hate them all!”
