After that, I took some time to console her.

In the end, she stopped crying and started smiling instead. It seems she was really glad to meet me.

As if I was some long lost family member.

I chuckled at the thought after which she decided to share the mutant meat with me which was rather generous of her.

So far I had not known how my stats increase. But my guess was that eating about 100 kg of 3rd tier mutant meat increased my stats by 0.1 stat point.

That mutant alligator, even though half eaten, still weighed more than 500 kg. And on top of that, it was a 4th tier mutant beast.

Something that I was definitely not capable of beating.

And she was just giving it to me.

That just goes to show that either she was a very powerful person. Or she valued me rather highly.

"Are you sure about this?" I asked one last time and she nodded with a smile.

"Don't mind me. Go ahead. Consider it a gift." She said and I gave a smile in return.

But just as I was about to dig in, I remembered something and looked at her once again.

"I'm so sorry. Here I am, eating your food and I didn't even asked your name. Who are you?" I asked.

"Me? I'm a…" she hesitated but then continued "I'm a Shepherd."

'Why would she tell me about her occupation?' I thought and gave her a weird look.

"I was not asking about what you did before the apocalypse. I am asking your name." I said with a polite smile.

'This girl was a bit weird and overly emotional but she seemed like a good person. No reason why I should not be polite to her.'

"My name…" she said and looking at her expression gave me the feeling that it was something that was not usually asked of her.

"Yeah. Your name. I'm Ashok by the way. Ashok Singh Rana." I said and brought my hand forward to her.

"Oh!" she said as she looked at my hand for a moment incomprehensibly before she smiled sweetly and shook my hand "I'm Netra. Netra Patakh. Nice to meet you Ashok."

I smiled back at her after which I opened my jaw and dig into the mutant alligator.

It was tough but delicious.

Far more delicious than a 3rd tier mutant beast.

I wondered if it would taste the same to a normal human who is it something about us Fiends that makes the mutant meat seem delicious.

'Probably something about us.' I thought with a smile.

It took me one whole hour to finish the mutant meat after which I felt a warm feeling in my body and I realized that all the wounds in my body were healing at a rapid rate.

The muscles and fat I had lost was returning to me. And the damage to my internal organs was also being healed.

I removed the bandage and looked at the Black watch and was surprised by my stats.

Wow! I remember the last time I ate a mutant beast, my stats had increased to 12.8. Just eating half of the 4th tier mutant alligator gave me a boost of 2.5 stat points.

'Awesome' I thought and stood up to celebrate but a sudden wave of dizziness made me lose my balance and I almost fell to the ground but Netra caught me in the last moment.

"Thank you." I said hoarsely and suddenly realized that I was feeling rather weak. I also felt embarrassed because in the half hour I had been eating, I had almost forgotten about her.

'I'm a rather ungrateful bastard. Aren't I.' I thought with some bitterness.

'Yes you are.' Lily chimed in.

'Shut up.' I said and tried to stand up on my own but when another bout of dizziness stopped me from such a notion and I finally gave in and took her shoulder as a support.

"You're still weak from what the mutant tree did to you. Plus the poison in your legs has damaged you by quite a bit. Don't move your body too much right now. You need to rest properly if your want to recover quickly." She said as she took me to the hut where I had come from.

"Just because we are able to rejuvenate ourselves by eating some mutant meat does not mean that we can recover from any wounds. We still have our limits and you're wounded pretty badly right now."

She gently laid me down on the bed and said some more words but I was too tired and was losing my focus rapidly. Everything around me became blurry and her voice became distant before everything went dark and I lost my consciousness once again.
