I looked at the third crystal in my hand with a gloating smile.

Indeed, in the end I was able to kill the last abnormal before Rahul could reach it.

In a sense, I had snatched it from his hands, which made me feel rather proud.

Yesterday, we had a long discussion over how we should distribute the crystals. And in the end, we came up with a simple rule.

The rule was:- The one who kills the Abnormal, gets the crystal.

I looked at the sword in Rahul's hands with a gaze full of envy. Indeed, I was envious of that sword. Not that I would ever admit it in front of him. But still, that thing was deadly.

If I had that sword in the last fight then I instead of dodging the attack of the Abnormal who jumped at me, I could have sliced him in half.

I looked at the 5 crystals in my hand. That was the result of my hard work from dawn till now.

I exchanged the 5 different colored crystals for 5 blue crystals and ate them without any further ado.

After the warmth in my body faded away I opened the hologram and checked the Interface once again.

I had a broad smile in my face as I stared at the Agility stat. Now that I had 2.0 points in agility stat, I was just as fast as a 1st tier Abnormal.

With 2.0 points in both Agility and Perception, I was confident in dealing with 3 or even 4 Abnormals.

'Damn this increase in power is very addicting.' I thought with a smile.

Although I could have bought a 1st tier Basic Sword from the interface after selling four of my crystals, I still decided to increase my stats in the end.

'Now, all we need to do is increase our stamina. After that we should be able to get back home in about 4 days.' I thought to myself.

'Now that I'm able to deal with 3-4 Abnormals at once, Big bro must have become even more powerful. At this point, we should be able to defeat 10-12 Abnormals right. If we try our best then we might even be able to deal with a group of 20 Abnormals.'

'Don't think so highly of yourself.' Lily voice suddenly rang in my mind. 'Although you have indeed become a bit more powerful than earlier, you still don't have a lot of fighting experience. If you try to fight against a large group then the situation might become very dangerous.

'I suggest that you fight against the smaller groups for a while and gain sufficient experience first before challenging bigger groups.' She said 'After all, one small mistake is all it takes to send everything back to zero. Do you understand or do I need to remind you about the 2nd tier Abnormal once more.'

Her words were like a cold bucket of water that had been thrown in my head. My eagerness and excitement all cooled down at once and I regained my calmness once more.

'I understand.' I said. 'I won't fight against large group of Abnormals until I have gained sufficient strength and fighting experience.'

At the same time, I also realized that after every power up I become a bit too overexcited and overconfident in my abilities. I really need to control this impulse of mine.

'It's good that you under… oh wait. Did you hear that?'

'I did hear something.' I turned and looked in the direction of the hut.

We had planned to rest in the hut after killing the abnormals in the surroundings but I was still uncertain about why those abnormals were lurking around in this area.

Now, it seems like I finally had my answer.

A young man slowly opened the door and peeked outside. After looking at the bodies in the surroundings his face suddenly turned pale and he went back inside and started vomiting.

After a while I could hear faint whispers coming from inside the hut.

Looks like there were more people inside there.

'It seems like we won't be able to rest in the hut after all.' I thought and looked at Rahul who was also looking at the hut with a bit of caution in his eyes.

'It's seems like he's cautious of strangers.' I thought. 'But wasn't that guy… a weakling. Like how I used to be.'

'Your brother is cautious of them for good reason.' Lily said. 'At desperate times, humans can be more dangerous than Abnormals.'

'Hmm… You're right.' I nodded in understanding and went to stand beside Rahul. If those people tried anything funny then god save them from Rahul because I definitely won't.

Soon after, two guys and one girl came out of the hut. They were wearing the same college uniforms as the one worn by the Abnormals.

They looked at the dead corpses of their ex-comrades in fear. Then they looked at us and their faces turned pale with fright.

Of course, after killing the Abnormals, we were covered in blood and had a savage aura around us. If normal people acted normally after looking at us then that would he strange.

The girl and one of the guy went behind the oldest looking guy and looked at tried to hide from our gazes.

The oldest looking guy, who was probably their leader, looked at Rahul and tried to stand up straight but I could see his legs shivering.

"You… You killed them?" he asked.

'Isn't that obvious.' I rolled my eyes at his stupid question. But maybe he was too afraid to think properly.

Rahul nodded his head. "You don't need to fear us. We won't harm you."

"Why…" That guy tried to speak something but stuttered and couldn't form he proper words.

"What?" Rahul asked.

"They… You… " he spoke while stuttering. "You killed… them. Aren't you afraid the police will arrest you."

'What!?' I was shocked when I heard this. But then I understood what was going on. This guy had not realized the situation he was in.

Although he was afraid of the Abnormals and did a good job of hiding from them, he still didn't knew the situation on the outside world.

'He probably thinks that his friends had gone mad or something and that everything will be fine after the police arrives.' Lily said. 'Poor guy. He doesn't know that the World he knew has already ended.'

'Hmm… Is this what I would have looked like if Rahul had not been with me?' I thought.

'No.' Lily replied. 'You would have most likely become an Abnormal or turned into their food.'

My lips twitched at her answer. 'Oi! You don't have to be so honest all the time you know.'

'Why? Can't hear the truth?' she asked teasingly.

'I am not going to talk with you anymore.' I said and ignored any further words from her.

"When the police arrives, we'll deal with them." Rahul said calmly and turned to look at me. "Let's go."

"What? Wait! Are we leaving just like that." I asked softly so that they won't be able to hear us.

He looked at me answered decisively "Look at their faces. They're too cautious of us. They won't believe us no matter what we say to them. Plus, we can't take them with us anyway. So there's no point in wasting our time on them."

"But… If we leave them just like this. Then won't they just die." I asked.

"Who knows." He said. "Their lives are in their own hands. If they live then that is their fortune. If they die… then that is their misfortune. This has nothing to do with us. Let's go."

"Wait! Let me tell them about one thing before we leave." I said.

Rahul looked me in confusion but I ignored him and turned to the three who were still looking at us fearfully.

I raised my left hand and showed them the Black watch that was embedded in it. "Do you have a watch like this in your hands?"

The leader looked at me in confusion as if wondering what I was talking about.

'Sigh! Looks like they still haven't noticed it's presence. Well, nothing surprising there considering how even I only come to know about it's existence until Rahul told me about it.'

"Show me your left hand." I said.

He fearfully raised his left hand. Since he was wearing a full sleeve T-shit, his wrist was hidden from the view.

"Show me your wrist." I said.

He unbuttoned his sleeve and showed me his wrist and… There was nothing in his left hand.

'What? Why doesn't he have a Black Watch. Didn't Brother told me that everyone gets one after they survive the Severe pain?'

'Fool. Just because everyone has it doesn't mean that they must have it in their left hands.' Lily said. 'His dominant hand must be the left one. Ask him to show the right hand.'

'Oh!' I exclaimed in understanding. That was really a mistake in my part.

"Show me your right wrist" I said.

After folding the sleeve from the right hand, lo and behold, there was indeed a Black Watch in his right hand.

But that guy was even more surprised to look at it. No, not surprise, he was shocked and panicked at the sight on an unfamiliar black object embedded in his hand and shouted hysterically.

"What… What did you do to my hand." He frantically tried to remove the Black watch to no avail. "What black magic is this."

I face palmed myself when I saw his behavior. 'Big bro's decision to leave immediately was indeed the right one.'

'Not only did they not trust us, they might even blame us for anything bad that happened to them. Indeed, it seems like I need more experience to become like big bro.'

Since the leader was already in so much panic, the other two were in no better conditions. They searched their hands and when they found that they had similar black objects in their hands, they flipped out and ran back into the hut and closed it tightly.

I felt my face twitch and turned to look at Rahul who was trying to stifle his laughter.

'Sigh! This whole encounter went wrong in so many ways.' I thought and turned to search for a pen and paper. Those Abnormals were once college students so I easily found it on their corpses.

After that, I spent ten minutes to write a few pages telling them about the situation around the world.

Although I knew that the situation was bad, I didn't want these guys to die for nothing.

At last, I put those three pages filled with information and slid it from under the door.

'I've done my part. Now whether they read it or not is up to them.' I thought and after that, we left the place.

We still needed to search for a place to sleep so that we would have enough energy to travel at night.

—————

"Rahul You said that we cannot take them with us. Why is that?" I asked.

He turned to look at me and gave me an 'are-you-an-idiot' look. "Taking in survivors will only slow us down and we want to reach back home as fast as possible. Now you understand?"

"Oh!" I had really forgotten that we're now much faster than a regular human.

Indeed, if we travel along with them, then our travelling speed will go down by quite a bit and it'll take us much longer to get back home.

The more time we take to get back home the more danger Neha will be in.

'Indeed. We cannot take any survivors along with us.' I thought. 'At least not until we get back home and meet with Neha.'

After realizing this, I threw away the thought of taking any survivors with us from my mind. Although I would still provide them with the necessary information to survive in this apocalypse, provided they're willing to listen to me.

After that incident with the college students, we walked non stop and after an hour we came across a came across a two storey house. Well, calling it a house would be a bit of a stretch as it was nothing more than an old abandoned building.

I had no plans of sleeping in such a building which might come crashing down at any moment. We were able to continue with our journey, when we heard fierce sounds of fighting coming from inside the building.

'Are there survivors in there.' I thought and turned to look at Rahul. "Should we check it out?"

Rahul thought for a while before saying. "Let's see what's going in inside there. But stay behind me."

'It seems like he's wary of any potential dangers like 2nd tier Abnormals.' Lily said in my mind.

'Indeed. If there was a 2nd tier Abnormal in that building and it caught us unprepared in such compact space then we would really fall in a tough situation ah.'

"Brother. Shouldn't we scout the place first." I asked. 'Even though there might be a survivor or two in there, we should give priority to our own lives before anything else.'

But Rahul didn't pay any attention to my words, instead he was giving all of his focus to listening to the sounds coming from inside the house. Then he turned to look at me and smiled.

"Come. I'll show you something interesting." He said and pulled my hand.

"What? What do you mean by interesting" I asked in confusion.

"Shh! Don't talk." He put a finger to his mouth and said lightly. After that, we stopped near the window of the old and abandoned house and peeked inside the hall where all the noise was coming from.

When I looked inside, I was dumbfounded. The scene was indeed very interesting. Well, calling it interesting would not be entirely correct but it was definitely something.

A group of three Mutant dogs were having a fierce fight against four Abnormals.

Those mutant dogs had lost almost all of their furs and their bodies were filled with wounds. A disgusting smell was emanating from their bodies as they salivated fiercely at the four Abnormals in front of them.

After losing their furs and getting so many wounds in their bodies, they looked a bit pitiful but judging from how those three were fighting head-on against the four Abnormals, I didn't dare to look down on them for even a second.

The floor of the room was littered with the corpses of two Abnormals and one mutant dog.

After a short face off, these two parties got into a fierce fight once again.

Unlike the mindless Abnormals, the mutant dogs seemed to have a bit of basic intelligence as they were not attacking in a very predictable fashion. It was truly a very ironic situation.

I saw as one of the mutant dogs bit at one of the Abnormals. It bit at it's hands and tore it off with great strength before the abnormal could even react. The abnormal didn't wanted to let it's attacker go scot free and tried to attack it from behind but the dog had already leaped off from it's range.

The fight was indeed very fierce. Much more fiercer than when Rahul and me fought with the Abnormals.

It was also the first time I saw mutant Beast fighting against Abnormals and understood why Rahul said that mutant beasts were stronger than Abnormals.

Indeed, if even a stray dog which had turned into a mutant beast is able to fight head-on against an Abnormal then what about the stronger animals.

I watched the fight closely as another mutant dog jump at one of the Abnormal's leg from behind but it had underestimated the sturdiness of a human's thigh and failed tear it off successfully.

Another Abnormal saw this chance and jumped at the dog with it's jaw wide open.

A man biting a dog. The idiom fit this situation well enough. In a literal sense. The abnormal bit fiercely at the mutant dog's neck and broke it's neck. After a bit of last minute struggle, the mutant dog finally died.

From then on the four Abnormals seemed to have gained an advantage over the mutant dogs.

The fight went on for a few more minutes and at the end only two Abnormals were left standing in the battlefield.

Although there was another Abnormal who was still breathing, it had lost a huge chunk from it's abdomen and was not able to stand up anymore.

"How was the fight?" Rahul turned to look at me and asked with a smile.

"It… It was fierce." I said.

"Indeed." He smiled. "And now, we'll take advantage of their fight and take all the rewards" Saying that, he jumped inside the window and finished off the three unsuspecting Abnormals.
