'Can he find the truth with only a limited number of questions?'

While Ye Jiao was pondering about the matter, the representative continued to ask the next question. His expression was solemn as he asked the next question.

"Did you harm her?"

"No."

"No."

"No."

The five of them answered similarly and the representative's frown grew deeper when he noticed that the stone didn't react. It meant that they were all telling the truth, but how was it possible?

The representative glanced on the stone in frustration. Did the stone malfunction or it meant that neither one of them harmed Cao Mei? He was so sure that the one who did it must be among the five of them as they were the only ones who had enough strength to deal with Cao Mei.

That princess might be annoying, but she was not an ordinary Eon Energy Master. She was very powerful for someone at her age.

The representative decided to change the tactic and asked them questions one by one. "Prince Qi Huan, did you think of her as a nuisance?"

"At times, yes."

"Did you wish to harm her because of that?"

"Not at all," Qi Huan responded unhurriedly. He did think of Cao Mei as someone annoying, but he never thought of harming that princess. He knew his position well and would just use it to make sure the princess never got her aim to him without using violence.

The representative looked at his stone. It still didn't give any reaction, which meant that Qi Huan was telling the truth. He sighed internally and turned to Lu Wan. "Have you ever thought of harming Princess Cao Mei?"

"Never," Lu Wan shrugged. He had just met with that girl not long ago. Why should he think of harming someone he had never met before? He was not a psychopath.

The questions continued as the representative tried to find out which one of them told the lies. However, no matter how many times he tried asking, the stone never reacted. It was as if the five of them were telling the truth.

On the side, Ye Jiao watched as the stone didn't give any reaction. Her eyes narrowed when the representative started to ask Chen Zi Quan.

"Prince Chen ZI Quan, have you ever thought of harming Cao Mei?"

"I have never thought of something like that," Chen Zi Quan replied with a composed tone. He looked straight back to the representative without any hint of fear as if he was truly telling the truth.

The representative glanced at the stone again and asked another question. "Did you harm Cao Mei?"

"I didn't."

While the stone didn't light up, Ye Jiao's keen sense could feel the slight undulation inside the stone. Her eyes flashed in astonishment. She had found out from a long time ago that she could sense Eon Energy better than most people, but she didn't expect to be able to sense something like this too.

Could it be that the stone didn't light up because the reaction was not enough?

She was not sure how the stone worked, but it didn't seem to be of that good quality. Chen Zi Quan seemed to be capable of fooling it one way or another.

The representative frowned when he saw that the stone didn't light up. He was hoping of catching at least one of them guilty. He couldn't accept that the princess died because of an accident.

"When you last see Princess Cao Mei, is she still alive?" this time, he asked all of them at once. He didn't have much Eon Energy left, so he had to make use of the question well.

"Yes."

"She was."

All of them gave positive answers and the representative could do nothing but give up. He looked at Cao Ren, the prince who he also interrogated. The relationship between princes and princesses in Cao Kingdom was strained, so he also suspected this young man. In the end, none of them was proved to be guilty.

"Is there any other question?" Cao Ren noticed that the representative looked at him, so he asked politely.

The representative noticed his Eon Energy almost drained out. It looked like it would be impossible for him to ask any other questions. "There's none. Thank you for your cooperation."

"Hey, don't you forget something?" Lu Wan rolled his eyes.

The representative blinked his eyes in confusion. What else did they want? Except for Lu Wan who blatantly showed his real feeling, the other four looked relatively calmer without any hint of change in their expression. Considering their position as the prince of their respective kingdoms, it was not weird to see it.

"It's almost time for the hunt to start," Qi Huan reminded.

Cao Ren nodded. "How much longer will you keep us here?"

With the hint from the two children, the representative realized what they wanted. He sighed internally as he spoke up. "I apologize for the inconvenience I caused by the investigation. The second part of the hunt will soon start, so I'll take my leave."

Despite being unwilling, the representative closed the investigation and left.

The five of them looked at one another before turning around one by one. They knew that it was not an accident and one of them told lies, but no one knew for sure which one it was.

"I'll prepare myself, so I'll excuse myself first," Cao Ren spoke up and retreated to the side.

Bai Xiang, the other representative from Chi Kingdom aside from Qi Huan, raised his hand. "Me too."

QI Huan shrugged. "There's no need for us to stay here anymore. I'll be taking my leave too."

With that, the five of them went their separate ways. Lu Wan and Qi Huan headed to a similar location, so they stood not far from each other with Ye Jiao behind them.

"I think that prince is telling a lie," Lu Wan whispered to Qi Huan after they were already far enough.

Qi Huan nodded. "It's not impossible to fool the lying device. All you have to do is completely believe your own lies and treat it as the truth. If even your body already accepts it as the truth, it would not give the reaction to the stone."

"Sounds complicated."

"Not really. Those in the imperial family are extremely familiar with this way. Of course, this will only work for low level truth stones like that," Qi Huan pointed to the back.

Ye Jiao tilted her head. "He's truly telling a lie."

"There's no way to prove it. The stone is too low in rank that it's still unable to detect such an obvious lie," Lu Wan yawned.

Qi Huan raised his eyebrows. "How do you know he's telling a lie?"

"The Eon Energy moves inside the stone for a moment. But it's movements are really faint and hard to detect," Ye Jiao replied.

"Are you saying that you can sense it?"

"Yes."

Both Lu Wan and Qi Huan looked at Ye Jiao as if they were looking at a monster. They knew how faint it was the movements of Eon Energy inside the stone. Even if they stood near it, there was no guarantee that they would be able to sense it due to the fact that the amount was too small. After all, their senses were limited.

Yet, this little girl said that she could sense it?

Mind you, Ye Jiao was not standing near the rock when they were speaking. There was quite a distance between them, so it should be harder for her to sense it.

Qi Huan opened his mouth and spoke slowly. "It seems you have far keener sense than ordinary people. Even I'm unable to sense it at all."

"I think so?" Ye Jiao was not totally sure. She knew that it was easy for her to detect and sense Eon Energy in her surroundings. With practice, she could sense them far better than when she first started training.

"I'm surrounded by monsters…" Lu Wan's expression contorted. Their master truly didn't hold back when recruiting disciples. These two were truly monsters.

"You're one to talk," Qi Huan rolled his eyes.

Ye Jiao giggled seeing that Lu Wan was already itching to challenge Qi Huan in another duel. She recalled their conversation from before. "But, why would he want to kill her?"

"Probably erasing eyewitnesses."

"What?"

"You know, the horde from before," Lu wan shrugged. "If it's truly an intentional one, you would want to eliminate everyone who knows about the matter. Even if that person is someone important, the risk of pulling an intentional horde is larger."

There was no need for Lu Wan to spell it out as Ye Jiao knew that puling a horde was the same as being responsible for killing numerous children. From the report they achieved, it was known that many unfortunate students were caught up in the middle of the horde and lost their lives in the process.

"Alright, time to stop talking. They're starting the second part."
