"Let's pick up our pace."

"Got it."

The three of them sprinted towards the crowd of people in the market. At that moment, they seemed to have disappeared into the crowd. With their skills and ability as an assassin, it would be easy for them to run faster. Besides, they could slip into the gap between the crowds, losing their pursuers that way.

Their small build had become their advantage in this chasing game. The three of them slipped into the crowds. Some people looked at them, but paid no heed. It was not that unusual to see children running on the street. Many of them did the same when they were playing around.

Of course, some areas were prohibited for children to play, but this place was not included because there were simply too many people around.

In but a moment, the people who were pursuing them had lost them.

"Where are they!"

"Damn it! They're quick!"

"Those children are too cunning!"

"I can't see them anymore."

After they lost their pursuers, the three of them entered a nearby alleyway. It was still afternoon, yet the alley was dark because of their location. The building nearby perfectly blocked the remaining light from the sun.

"You're not bad," Qi Huan turned his head to Lu Wan. "I thought that you would have lost your touch by now."

"Are you telling me that I can't work as an assassin just because I spend a long time researching poison?"

"Well, that's possible."

Lu Wan glared. "As if!"

Ye Jiao looked around. "I'm not that familiar with the alleyway in this place, but there should be a direct way to the minister's residence from here, right?"

"Yes."

"Do you know the way?"

"I know," Lu Wan pointed to the front. "That alley is connected to a street not far from his residence. There might be some people around because it's a bit convenient."

"Is it far?"

"Not really, we should be able to reach it quickly."

"Got it."

Their current speed alone was enough to throw a lot of people on their back. Even though they have to turn left or right a few times, they only needed a few minutes to reach the designated street.

"That's his residence."

"Did you come here often? You seem to be very familiar with the way," Qi Huan pointed to the street behind him.

"You can say so," Lu Wan looked at the entrance. In the past, he wanted to find out just what kind of man his little sister fancied. Upon seeing him a few times, he understood that she didn't like him as a person but rather because of his position.

After all, there was no other reason as to why she aimed for him.

He might say that he no longer cared for that girl at all, but there were times when he just couldn't help it. He still felt worried for that girl's behalf.

"Let's try to ask around."

The three of them went their separate ways. Ye Jiao headed to the back, near the location of the back door. It was the place servants usually passed through, so she wanted to try her luck in finding them and asked some questions.

Looking at the large residence, Ye Jiao was worried at what they might have to face here. The number of guards that patrolled the area already exceeded 100 even though she barely went in a circle.

'He must have a close relation with merchants or military people.'

To be able to keep a lot of guards in this residence already showed how rich he was. After all, it was not easy to keep them all.

Though she would not have any problem defeating them because of her rank, it was still not good news when the number reached hundreds or even thousands. She would never be able to defeat them all if that was the case. Her Eon Energy and stamina would be depleted first before they all died. At that time, she would lose or might even lose her life in the process.

After making a few rounds, Ye Jiao returned back to the alley. She noticed that Qi Huan also had returned with a solemn expression.

"Brother Shan, how's it?" Ye Jiao chose the young man's alias because she didn't want anyone to know him. His surname alone would be enough to send a lot of people chasing after them because there was only one Qi Family in Four Kingdom.

Qi Huan shook his head. "This place is basically a fortress with numerous guards around. It's no wonder that no one manages to infiltrate this place successfully."

"Well, if we use poison, it might be a different case," Ye Jiao smiled. She had seen some of the new poisons that Lu Wan developed. If she had to say, she would never want to touch them in her entire life.

She still treasured her life!

"Right, I almost forgot about him," Qi Huan laughed. "I guess this mission is the most suitable to make the full use of his poison. Also, we'll gain the chance to see the prowess of the poison directly. Not bad at all."

Seeing the wicked smile on Qi Huan's face, Ye Jiao was speechless. She knew that he had some kind of liking when killing, but the transformation still surprised her at times because of how unexpected it was. No one would ever expect that the kind and amiable prince they saw everyday was actually a very wicked man.

His appearance simply tricked them to believe that he's a good man. At this thought, Ye Jiao silently nodded to herself. Her senior brother is truly cunning.

Qi Huan passed a glance to Ye Jiao when he saw the gaze she used to look at him. "Are you thinking of something rude?"

"No."

"Really?"

Ye Jiao refused to look at the young man as she stared at the street before them. Her eyes noticed Lu Wan walking towards their direction. It was at this time that a familiar face appeared from the intersection.

The two youths stopped and looked at one another.

"Brother Shan, I think we need to help Brother Yu," Ye Jiao's body tensed up as her mind spun faster to think of what they should do.

Qi Huan narrowed his eyes. He shook his head. "Don't show yourself."

"But…."

"There's nothing we can do if Lu Wan didn't fight back. We can't risk them knowing that Lu Wan has a connection to us," Qi Huan explained.

Ye Jiao's face turned grim, but she understood what Qi Huan meant perfectly. Right now, Lu Wan has the status as someone from the great scholar Lu Family. Being seen together with a bunch of children from unknown origins wouldn't do them any good. Besides, there was no telling if the others would instead pick them as their target.

At that time, they would also put their lives on the line.

"Do you think he wants us to help him out?" Ye Jiao asked again. Her eyes were looking at the two youths worriedly.

Qi Huan shook his head. "That's his older brother. I don't think that Lu Wan is going to fight back."

"Huh? Isn't his relationship with his brother not good?"

"It's indeed not good," Qi Huan said slowly. "But it's a bit different from the normal enemies or friends' relationship. At times, you should learn that not everything is just white and black. There's grey in the middle of the two."

Ye Jiao blinked her eyes a few times. Even though she always claimed herself as a grown up, her thinking processes were still simple. It has gradually grown, but there were still some traces of childishness that left inside her that she herself was unaware of.

As she had begun to walk her path, she also needed to start learning about many things in this world. There were a lot of things that she had never known before.

Slowly, she turned her head to look at the two youths once again. All she remembered from their relationship was when they clashed against one another. It looked to her as if they had a bad relationship as they were unable to stand each other's presence. But from the way Qi Huan said it, she could guess that things were not that simple.

There were still things that she didn't know.
