Grandma Lu stood up to hug the man.

Looking at him, Lu AnLing couldn't believe her eyes. She knew that the man's voice sounded slightly familiar but this must have been a cruel joke…

This person was the Doctor she'd seen by Rong Yue Wan's side.

Seeing the way her grandmother's face brightened as she hugged the man, who had protected the nurse who Lu AnLing believed had a hand in stealing her child, made her stomach burn.

Lu AnLing clutched the sides of her white cheongsam as she felt her whole body react in anger and disgust.

Since he had seen her face, the man had not taken his eyes off of her. A strange feeling appeared in his eyes but he didn't dare speak until he turned to his dear friend with squinted eyes.

"Ah… Lili, this is?"

"My granddaughter." Grandma Lu was exuding happiness from every fiber of her body. "She's the one I was telling you about. She's a beauty, isn't she?"

"I see..."

The man's face practically turned green, but he fought it back before he nodded. When he was about to speak, he almost choked. Thinking fast, he was able to cover it up by a cough. "Excuse me."

Grandma Lu turned to Lu AnLing. "Child, This is my old friend, Chong Wei." Then the old woman turned brightly to her friend. "Old Chong, this is my eldest granddaughter Lu AnLing"

Both Lu AnLing and old Chong greeted each other. Though between them there was tension. Many questions and feeling; one that Grandma Lu didn't notice, but it was one that the two felt in their bones.

Looking over Lu AnLing, old Chong's face turned as black as the bottom of a pot but he tried his best to get rid of the look. He didn't want to bring attention to himself. However, it was too late.

He recognized her too and Lu AnLing was sure of it.

Grandma Lu patted Lu AnLing's back. "You can call him Doctor Chong, Elder Chong or Grandpa Chong. Chong Wei is like a brother to me, so don't worry, Grandpa Lu wouldn't mind if you called him grandpa." Grandma Lu smiled excitedly.

Lu AnLing nodded.

Looking at the girl expectedly, Lu AnLing swallowed the conflicted and painful feelings that were emerging from her heart.

"Grandpa Chong." Lu AnLing said calmly, despite the disgust that filled her core.

Old Chong smiled, but his eyes were completely absent of any warmth.

Despite being close to Grandma Lu, Old Chong had never been to any of the Lu parties. Not even the important ones. This was because he had always been busy with his work concerning the Kang family or the hospital.

It was so rare of him to do things for fun, and so, despite contacting the old woman, he met her only once or twice a year.

Because of this, even Grandma Lu's children weren't familiar with the man, but now, he no longer needed to worry about any of that because all of his responsibilities had been passed down to his son, Chong Feng.

After so long, the man finally believed he could relax… but now this?

Old Chong could not take Lu AnLing's incriminating gaze, mostly now that he knew that she was the granddaughter of his dearest friend. Guilt rose up within up, triggering a wave of nausea. He needed to find a reason to leave. Anything… it didn't matter to him what it was.

Although, before he could make his move, Grandma Lu spoke.

"You didn't bring your son today?"

Old Chong laughed nervously. "He's here. Trust me, he is. I just lost him."

Suddenly, from the crowd, a man emerged.

The man was not the most good looking but with his slicked-back hair and a smile tugging on his thin lips, he was charming.

"I can't believe you left me back there…" the man sighed. His eyes were glued to Old Chong.

"Son…" Old Chong almost grumbled.

How he had wished his son hadn't come. It would have been much easier to leave if that had been so...

When Lu AnLing had heard the words 'your son', she had thought that the old man's son would be around her mother or her father's age, but no… this man was young. If she had to assume, he was in his early thirties.

And she was right, he was young. He was 37 to be exact.

Seeing the boy, Grandma Lu smiled wide. She introduced herself to the man and then introduced Lu AnLing to him as Old Chong had no choice but to stand back and watch.

Seeing Lu AnLing standing by the two old people, the young man froze and his eyes widened. After a small moment of shock, Chong Feng smiled kindly.

"Hi, I'm Chong Feng."

"He's a doctor." Grandma Lu interrupted.

Chong Feng laughed a bit before he turned his attention back to Lu AnLing.

"You are?" Chong Feng said as he reached his hand out. The man's voice was becoming slightly high pitched.

Despite him asking that Chong Feng knew who she was… He never forgot anyone he had examined, mostly one he had met under two fairly peculiar circumstances.

It was Kang Jun's woman.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Lu AnLing."

Lu AnLing reached her hand out to shake the man's hand indifferently. Chong Feng's eyes observed every one of the girl's movements. Seeing the way she greeted him, Chong Feng became amused.

Lu. An. Ling.

He was going to keep that name in mind.

Chong Feng was Chong Wei's first and only son. The fact that the boy had been born when he was in his late fifties was just a problem of circumstance but it was okay because the old man had kept his youth until well past his 60's.

Chong Feng: "I heard you just came back from abroad?"

"Yes."

"How was that? Did you have a boyfriend back then?" Chong Feng's question took everyone off guard.

In fact, hearing this, Lu AnLing almost puked blood, but she still managed to calm herself down and answer the man normally. "It was fine and no, no boyfriend."

Looking at Lu AnLing, Chong Feng wanted to nod in approval. Lu AnLing wasn't the prettiest of girls but her features exuded a sexiness and a feistiness that the man believed complimented Kang Jun's coldness.

Plus, that day, Lu AnLing looked like an angel. She wore the dress Grandma Lu had prepared. It was a lace white cheongsam that dragged slightly behind Lu AnLing as she walked.

"How about now?" Chong Feng asked curiously, but he wasn't pushy. Lu AnLing could have not answered him if she wanted to and he wouldn't have pressed her.

Lu AnLing's face changed slightly and then she averted her eyes and said, "No."

'Oh ho ho.' Chong Feng laughed internally.

So Kang Jun wasn't her boyfriend yet?

Interesting.

Other than being well versed in the medical field, he wasn't too bad in the social sciences field, like psychology.

And judging by the girl's response, Chong Feng assumed that Lu AnLing wasn't lying but at the same time, her heart was set on someone. Chong Feng assumes it was Kang Jun.

But if she liked him and he liked her, then why were they together already?

Chong Feng gazed at Lu AnLing with complete interest.

Meanwhile, feeling like side characters, the elders watched on. Seeing his son's reaction, Old Chong's heart almost jumped out of his chest while Grandma Lu felt as if she had just grown a pair wings.

Was Chong Feng interesting in Lu AnLing?

Chong Feng opened his mouth to ask another question but suddenly, he was interrupted.

"Feng! Stop interrogating her." Old Chong said commandingly.

Listening to his father, the boy stopped talking but then, Grandma Lu slapped Old Chong's arm. "What are you talking about!" Then she turned to Chong Feng with a kind smile. "You can continue talking, don't listen to your stick in the mud father."

Old Chong didn't say another word.

Hearing the way the old woman talked about his father, Chong Feng couldn't help but snort. He didn't know the woman, but obviously, she was close to his old man.

Chong Feng turned to his father and then he shrugged.

Seeing this, Grandma Lu turned to whisper inside Lu AnLing's ear. "Old Chong's son is good looking and single. Go mingle."

"Alright! You kids hurry along and go talk. Wei and I haven't seen each other in so long." Grandma Lu pushed Lu AnLing towards Chong Feng. "And if you see Grandpa Lu, point him in my direction."

Lu AnLing and Chong Feng nodded.

Sitting down with Grandma Lu, Old Chong gazed at Lu AnLing and his son as the two youngsters made their way elsewhere.

His gaze was dark.
