It was really unfortunate when a person knew exactly what they wanted to say but they just couldn't say it.

Lu AnLing was having that problem at that exact second.

Of course, Lu AnLing was confident. She was married to Kang Jun and she knew that the man would never betray her but considering how Lu AnLing knew that Feng Yan was one of the candidates to be Kang Jun's bride she couldn't say that. Lu AnLing couldn't even mention that she was Kang Jun's girlfriend so she kept her mouth shut.

But at the same time, she was trying her best to come up with something to say.

When something finally came to mind, the girl hesitated for a moment to see if there was something better to say. Sadly, there was nothing. So Lu AnLing turned her head and then looked at Feng Yan dead in the eyes, sweeping her gaze past Feng Yue also.

Lu AnLing: "I think the real question is, why are you so confident?"

Feng Yan frowned and then said, " Well I—"

But Lu AnLing cut the girl off without an ounce of shame. "I'm on a date with Kang Jun right now. Not you, right? I don't see a reason why I should see you as competition."

Lu AnLing accentuated a couple of words in her sentence, including the words 'I'm', 'right now' and 'you'. She couldn't help but sound like a bitch because she wanted to tell Feng Yan that she wasn't her competition, even if she had to beat it into her with her words.

Feng Yan's face darkened immediately.

"How dare you talk to me so arrogantly..." Feng Yan said between clenched teeth.

"I'm not being arrogant. I'm being truthful. Look at the situation we're in... and I mean, really, look at it..." Lu AnLing gave a pause. "Which one of us is truly deluding themselves?"

Feeling the way the tension in the room increased, Lu AnLing prepared herself for the worse.

The girl wasn't sure what Feng Yan would do to her but if she compared this situation to the ones from her past, Lu AnLing knew that a slap was coming her way. And so, the girl was ready to intercept it.

However, Feng Yan, intelligently, decided not to do anything rash. Doing something stupid would have been bad in more than one way.

Feeling the painfully uncomfortable silence, Feng Yue pulled on Feng Yan's shoulder and said, " YanYan please, let's go... Don't be reckless—"

Hearing her sisters words made Feng Yan scoff in disbelief. "Reckless? Me? This girl is the one looking for a fight!"

Feng Yan wasn't wrong. Lu AnLing had completely analyzed how the situation was going to go and she chose this as her best alternative, despite the fact that she knew that provoking Feng Yan could escalate the situation.

Lu AnLing felt a bit bad for doing this to the woman, but who told Feng Yan to butt into Lu AnLing's precious time with Kang Jun.

Putting her elbows on the table, Lu AnLing gave Feng Yan a look of indifference, as if she was waiting for the woman to leave.

Seeing this, Feng Yan's brain almost went red with rage but still, she held herself back from physically assaulting the girl. Instead, she opened her mouth and said,

"Don't act so high and mighty, the way I see it, we're both in the same boat."

Hearing this, Lu AnLing almost burst out in laughter but she couldn't do that, and neither could she deny the woman's statement so she just stayed silent.

Suddenly a voice rang lowly behind them, "Who's in the same boat?"

The three girls turned to the owner of the voice. There, they all saw a tall woman with a short blue dress that wrapped snuggly around her curves. Despite its shortness and tightness , it looked surprisingly elegant on the figure who stood with her arms on her hips.

Looking at the woman's perfectly made-up face, Lu AnLing felt her heart sink a bit. "Xia, what are you doing here?"

Seeing her cousin's face stiffen at the sight of her made Lu Xia frown but she didn't answer her cousin, instead, she turned to the Feng sisters and said,

"Isn't it wrong to gang up on others?"

Meanwhile, as the girls were engaged in their uncivil discussion, Kang Jun was outside, on the phone with Elder Kang.

Lu AnLing and Kang Jun had previously come up with a plan on how to deal with his parents, and the man explained it to the old man who had just randomly called him.

"What do you think?" Kang Jun asked.

Elder Kang: "Hmmm not bad. Not bad... but can I add something?"

Kang Jun's gaze sharpened. "That depends. What do you want to do?"

Elder Kang gave a dry laugh before he said, "Don't worry, what I want to do won't affect you or your wife in any way, I just want to teach my stupid son a lesson. He needs to learn how to keep his mouth shut."

"As long as you're sure it won't impact us negatively, you can do whatever you want." Kang Jun's face remained cold but he didn't care about how Elder Kang dealt with Kang Mu. The man wouldn't involve himself in trivialities.

"Good, good. I'll start preparing!" The old man said with a loud laugh, then the man calmed down and coughed before he spoke again. "But is Miss Lu really okay with this? It would mean revealing herself to the family much earlier than expected?"

Elder Kang thought he would be happy about the fact that Lu AnLing was willing to introduce herself to the family but for some reason, he wasn't. The man really wanted to have time to monopolize her attention a bit before Kang Mu found out about her.

Though he quickly stopped worrying about this. The only reason that made him able to stop worrying was the fact that the old man was sure that Kang Jun would keep Kang Mu well away from his wife.

Kang Jun: "Yes. She decided that this would be the best way."

On the other end of the line the elder nodded vigorously. "You have a very understanding wife. You should try your best to satisfy her, or else you'll lose her to someone else."

Hearing his grandfather chastise him made Kang Jun frown hard but inside he didn't feel unhappy.

Kang Jun was glad that his grandfather liked his wife. Due to Lu AnLing's previous family circumstances, he didn't want her to be hurt by another family even if they were just in-laws.

The man was truly grateful to his grandfather for his reaction, so, instead of ignoring his grandfather, like he usually did, Kang Jun said,

"I will."

The way Kang Jun answered him made Elder Kang speak gleefully. "Good boy."

With this, Kang Jun was going to hang up on the old man but then, remembering something, he said. "Grandfather... about Zhi,"

'Did Kang Zhi have kids?' Kang Jun didn't know how to say this. So the line went silent.

Kang Jun wanted to confirm from his grandfather's mouth if the man knew something but he still wasn't sure if the old man was also a suspect.

Suddenly, Elder Kang's voice rang loud in Kang Jun's ear. "Don't worry. I don't blame you."

Hearing this, Kang Jun held his breath.

"I know that many family members have been... uh... whispering about it but, as for me, I don't believe you had anything to do with Zhi's death..." Elder Kang's voice was at his most sincere. Despite his voice being low and raspy, he wasn't angry and he wasn't sad.

The emotion caught Kang Jun off guard and for once, the man was tongue-tied.

Elder Kang: "You're a good man, Jun. More than you will ever know..."
