That night, as Lu AnLing and Kang Jun were on their date, at the Lu Family mansion, Grandma Lu was sitting in her bed in a depressive state. Many relatives had come to visit Grandma Lu, who had recently been discharged from the hospital and they had all decided to stay the night. Even Lu Jiayi's fiancé had come.

As her grandchildren came in and out of her room, chatting amongst themselves, Grandma Lu's mind was stuck on Lu Xia and Lu AnLing.

Outside the door, there was a lot of chatter.

"Is Miss AnLing not joining us tonight?" Mr. Jing asked Mother Lu.

Mother Lu: "I haven't been able to contact her."

Hearing this, Lu Shuya who had been in her grandmothers room opened the door wide and said,

"She's probably busy. Being an assistant is hard after all. Xiao Mian told me that she saw elder sister at work today."

Mr. Jing smiled at Lu Shuya, and then he turned to Mother Lu who was completely expressionless.

From a corner, Lu Jiayi walked over, holding onto her fiancé's arm. "No matter how busy cousin is, work shouldn't be more important than family. She should be more filial."

No one disagreed with Lu Jiayi but Lu Duyi glared at the woman before entering his grandmothers room and closing the door behind him.

Before the boy had entered, Grandma Lu was in deep thought. Her mind was stuck on the marriage certificate that she had safely kept since Lu AnLing had left her hospital room in tears.

When the old woman was finally left alone, she reached into her bag, which she always kept by her side, and pulled out the marriage certificate. She passed her finger over the names on the certificate and sighed.

When Lu Duyi entered the room he saw his grandmother at the brink of tears as she stared at the thing in her hands.

So he asked, "What's that?"

Hearing the boys voice caused Grandma Lu to jump slightly. Looking at the boy who was starring at her innocently, the old woman put the certificate away and said, "Nothing my boy. Nothing at all."

Lu Duyi doubted her words but instead of pressing the woman, he just grabbed a chair and sat by Grandma Lu's bed.

"Are you okay?" Lu Duyi asked the old woman.

A sadness lingered in her eyes.

Grandma Lu looked away from him and she nodded but she didn't say a word.

She was not okay. She had messed up...

Grandma Lu hated the Kang family because of certain circumstances in her past, but she knew, as soon as she had spoken those harsh words to Lu AnLing, that she had crossed the line.

The old woman wasn't unreasonable. She knew how to give people the benefit of the doubt and that she should only judge a person by their own action not by the actions of their relatives but when she had seen the name Kang, she couldn't help herself but to be disgusted.

She regretted her reaction. More now than she did after the fact but now... nothing could be done.

She couldn't contact Lu AnLing. The girl was ignoring her calls.

And not only Lu AnLing but Lu Xia also.

Despite Grandpa Lu kicking Lu Xia out of the family, Grandma Lu loved the girl to death so she kept meeting with the girl in secret as she had been doing with Lu AnLing.

Lu Duyi: "Granny?"

"I'm fine..."

Lu Duyi gave his grandmother a look of disbelief. The boy was an observant child. He had spent his whole childhood receiving attention but for some reason he spent his whole time giving others his undevided attention.

"What happened? Does it have to do with sister?" Lu Duyi asked.

Grandma Lu laughed. "What makes you say that?"

Lu Duyi shrugged. "I just assumed since she's the only one who isn't here."

"Well that isn't completely true..." Grandma Lu found herself saying.

"So this is about cousins Xia?"

Hearing this, Grandma Lu felt her heart squeeze. Slowly she ended up speaking to Lu Duyi about what had happened, though she didn't mention what she had fought with the girls about.

After hearing everything, Lu Duyi sighed and nodded his head.

Lu Duyi: "If you feel that bad about it, doesn't that mean that you should go and apologize to them?"

Grandma Lu laughed, "You make life sound so easy."

"It's pretty easy if you follow your heart." Lu Duyi said seriously.

Grandma Lu laughed and then she flicked the boy on the forehead. "You're such a child."

***

At Rainbow Valley Kang Jun, Lu AnLing, Kang Liu Ran and Lu Xia somehow ended up all sitting together at the same table.

At first, Kang Liu Ran wanted to leave but he didn't because Lu Xia wanted to stay with Lu AnLing and the man wouldn't leave his fiancée behind.

On the table, Lu AnLing and Kang Jun sat on one side and Lu Xia and Kang Liu Ran sat on the other side.

Both couples seemed to be in their own world of intimacy but Lu Xia kept looking at the two across from her.

To Lu Xia, this was a new expression. She, like everyone else, didn't know about Lu AnLing's previous love with Yang Yize. So to her, it was as if she was seeing her cousin fall in love for the first time and this warmed her heart.

Usually, the girl would be more suspicious of a man who got close to Lu AnLing but seeing how the two looked at each other, Lu Xia couldn't deny the feelings between the two.

Lu Xia leaned on the table and gazed deeply at how Kang Jun put things into Lu AnLing's plate, and how the girl would thank him with a smile.

Lu Xia couldn't help but smile herself.

Seeing this, Kang Liu Ran did the same As Lu Xia and before he knew it he began to feel strange. Watching the way Kang Jun and Lu AnLing looked at one another and interacted with one another, was something Kang Liu Ran didn't expect to see from the ice god, known as Kang Jun.

Unlike Kang Liang, Kang Liu Ran had never been close to his elder brother and he had never planned to be either. Kang Jun was not a person one could easily get close to, mostly considering how he avoided human connection. But today, for once in his life, he saw Kang Jun display emotion.

What brought about this change?

Kang Liu Ran wanted to know, but he wouldn't dare ask.

But just because he wouldn't do it didn't mean that Lu Xia wouldn't.

"So... what are you guys? Like, to each other?" Lu Xia's voice broke through Lu AnLing and Kang Jun's rosy barrier.

Hearing this, Lu AnLing froze.

Kang Jun and Lu AnLing looked at each other and then they answered in unison.

Lu AnLing: "A date..."

Kang Jun: "Husband and wife."
