At the table, Lu AnLing, Lu Xia, Tang Bingyi and Wang Tingting couldn't help but stare at Zhao Fei and Gu Ning in horror as the two struggled to get up. Even the girl's around them wore expressions of horror but at the same time, they were trying to hold back their laughter.
Feeling a slight bit of guilt rise up in her, Lu AnLing rubbed her arm.
"Sorry... I didn't actually mean to do that..." Lu AnLing said. It was true. It was just a reflex. When seeing Gu Ning's expression turn Lu AnLing worried what would happen to her cousins. She was truly like an older sister. She wanted to protect them. But now, looking at the scene, she believed she might have done something much worse.
Hearing Lu AnLing's words Zhao Fei felt something crack inside the depths of her mind. Pushing on Gu Ning's face for support, Zhao Fei got up.
For a small moment, she stayed with her back towards Lu AnLing and company before she turned and said,
"Lu AnLing, what can an apology do when the damage had already been done?!" Xhao Fei said with arms open, gesturing to the room. By then, they had a bunch of spectators.
Looking around, Lu AnLing shrugged.
"Well technically, that's not my fault." Lu AnLing said before pointing to Gu Ning. "It's hers."
Hearing this, Gu Ning's eyes widened and then she screamed. "Bitch! What are you talking about?! This is all your fault!"
Lu AnLing rolled her eyes. Looking at Gu Ning and the rest of Zhao Fei's group, Lu AnLing was a bit ashamed of herself; not her present self but her self from her past. How could she have been afraid of these people? Lu AnLing had always been strong; mentally and physically when she was a kid.... but for what reason had she thought burying that deep inside her would be a good thing?
Shaking her head slightly, Lu AnLing raised her head high.
"See what I mean?" Lu AnLing said as pointed at Gu Ning while she flashed Zhao Fei a look and then she turned to look at Gu Ning in the eyes and smiled sadly, "of course it's your fault. What did you expect when you use that harpy voice of yours?"
Hearing this, Gu Ning pushed herself up, only to come tumbling down. A bone-crushing pain had shot up her leg when she'd stood up. Looking down to her leg, Gu Ning shrieked. "It's broken! You broke my leg!"
Looking at her ankle which became slightly swollen, Lu Xia rolled her eyes. "It's not broken idiot, you just sprained your ankle when you landed on the couch like a bouffon."
Gu Ning glared at Lu Xia and said, "How would you know if it's broken or not? You're just that stupid bitch's friend, which makes you just like her; a stupid bitch."
"Stupid bitch this, stupid bitch that... is this woman illiterate?" Tang Bingyi interjected.
Hearting the way Tang Bingyi said it with so much seriousness, a few people snickered which caused Gu Ning's face to redden considerably.
Wang Tingting, on the other hand, burst out in laugher and then, trying to calm herself down, she said, "I think she's just repeating that word not only because she's illiterate but because she connects to it, as well..."
"Ah, so c'est celui qui dit qui l'est." Tang Bingyi said in French and then, remembering that only a couple of them spoke French, looked specifically at Gu Ning, as if she was stupid and said, "I said, the one who says it, is. Meaning you're calling everyone a stupid bit because, in the end, that's what you are."
Tang Bingyi had begun to change in those few moments she had spoken. She became free and almost smiled. Usually, Lu AnLing would take more notice of that but instead, not wanting Gu Ning's attention to be too focused on her cousins or the pregnant Wang Tingting, Lu AnLing said, "Send me your medical bill.".
Hearing this, Gu Ning was fuming but it was truly Zhao Fei, who was practically being ignored, who was the angriest.
She wanted to cause Lu AnLing to react with anger, with sadness... anything of the sort. Even that day when she and Yang Yize has broken up, the girl's voice was calm and composed...
This just made Zhao Fei feel like the girl didn't have any real weakness because she didn't care about anyone.
Completely ignoring Gu Ning who began to cuss at Lu AnLing, Zhao Fei said,
"You're making a horrible mistake."
Hearing this, Lu AnLing frowned and then she approached Zhao Fei so that only the two of them would be able to hear what she had to say next.
"No. I'm not. You're the one who made a horrible mistake when you drugged me." Lu AnLing's voice was glacial and uncaring as she said this. "And don't try to blame it on anyone else. I know it was you. Now, you have a decision to make. Im only going to ask you this once, why did you drug me? You can choose to answer truthfully, and we will cut ties peacefully or you can not answer and suffer my wrath. Now which is it?"
Hearing those words, Zhao Fei froze for a second. Feeling her heart palpitate slightly due to Lu AnLing's coldness, Zhao Fei wanted to clutch her stomach in fear but she didn't. She could not show her fear!
Zhao Fei cracked an awkward smile. "Your wrath? What can you do? You were adopted. The Lu family wouldn't let you use any of their resources to help you hurt me."
Hearing this, Lu AnLing was now the one who smiled. "I've been separated from my family for years, Zhao Fei. I found ways to make money. But money is irrelevant. I'll find many ways to make you suffer, with or without it. Compared to you, I have nothing to lose."
