Kang Liang had somehow been able to join the Lu family group seamlessly and so, for a small while he spoke calmly to Lu AnLing's family.

He was feeling a bit down when he had arrived at the house, but now, he was enjoying his time.

Despite being an unexpected guest, neither Kang Jun nor Lu AnLing minded the man's presence. Frankly, it was a bit nice because he made everything less awkward. Except when it came to Lu Shuya who was trying her best to ignore him.

Beside Kang Liang, Xu Shen was examining Kang Jun and Kang Liang. And then, he suddenly spoke.

"You two aren't very alike." Xu Shen said seriously.

"Brothers don't always have to look alike do they?" Kang Liang asked a bit questioningly.

Xu Shen shrugged. "No idea. But you guys are almost like complete opposites."

Hearing this, Kang Jun felt his blood freeze for a second but then Lu AnLing held his hand tight. She then turned to address Kang Liang and then she said,

"What would you do if you weren't related by blood? Would you be disappointed?" Lu AnLing asked.

Kang Jun was not going to bring up that he wasn't a Kang. He never planned on doing such a thing in front of his brother. His plan was just to reveal it to Elder Kang and Feng Zhengyi before the trial so that Feng Zhengyi would know that she wouldn't be able to take Kang Mei Xue away from him, and give up, but at the same time, Kang Jun feared the impacts this would have on Kang Mingyu and on Kang Liang, if they ever heard about it.

Kang Liang had never gotten along with Kang Nianxi or Kang Liu Ran. The three seemed more like strangers than anything else. As for Kang Zhi; he was a kind of untouchable figure in which Kang Jun had only been able to know and so, Kang Liang had clung to Kang Jun as a child and into adulthood.

Looking at his brother, Kang Jun slightly worried about the answer he would get.

But there was no need...

Shrugging, Kang Liang smiled and said, "Of course not! Whether we're related or not doesn't matter to me. Jun's my brother, forever and always. Like you, you're always going to be my sister in law."

Hearing this, Lu AnLing laughed as she ran her thumb on Kang Jun's knuckle.

This was the answer the man needed to hear.

The three children had been gone for a long time so Lu AnLing had asked Rong Lihua to go fetch them, and once everyone was down, they all gathered in the dining room for dinner.

At first, the three kids did not notice Kang Liang because they had headed to their parents.

Seeing the three kids hand in hand, Lu AnLing felt her whole body exude happiness and she couldn't help but smile. Kang Jun also felt something move within him. He was so glad to see the children smiling and getting along.

Truly, at first, he had worried that they wouldn't. It was only normal for either Kang Mingyu or Kang Mei Xue to be threatened by Lu Yuxi because she was brand new. One or the other might think that Lu Yuxi was trying to take their parents or sibling away from them, and for kids like Kang Mingyu and Kang Mei Xue, who had only been loved either by each other or by Lu AnLing and Kang Jun, losing affection was a very real threat in their minds. But thankfully, this didn't ensue.

Looking at their children, both Kang Jun and Lu AnLing smiled, then they both bent down and then Lu AnLing asked,

"How was your play date?"

Hearing her say this, the kids looked at each other, unsure of who was to speak first, but then Lu Yuxi said, "It was the best! I've never had so much fun. I want to come and play more and more, I don't want today to end!"

Lu Yuxi beamed like the sun as she spoke to Lu AnLing and her eyes wandered between Lu AnLing, Kang Jun, Kang Mingyu and Kang Mei Xue. It was as if they were Lu Yuxi's world.

Then she stopped talking and paused for a second, "Can I come to a play again... mommy...?"

Lu Yuxi was unsure about if she should call Lu AnLing 'mother'. She knew that Lu AnLing was her real mother but at the same time, she didn't know if this would be strange or not but when she had said it, it was definitely strange but at the same time it felt right.

Meanwhile, when everyone in the room heard this, they felt their hearts flutter; some with worry and some with happiness.

"Of course," Lu AnLing said, "This home is your home. You're always welcome."

As Lu AnLing said this, Kang Jun nodded. Seeing this, Lu Yuxi smiled brightly and so did Kang Mingyu and Kang Mei Xue.

After this, the family all gathered in the dining hall to eat.

Once inside, no one knew where they should sit with the exception of Lu AnLing, Kang Jun, Kang Mei Xue and Kang Mingyu.

After the four had taken their seats, the guests hesitated to find a place to sit, with the exception of Kang Liang who calmly took his seat at one end of the table.

Meanwhile, Kang Mingyu and Kang Mei Xue who sat at either side of their parents looked towards the Lu family.

Seeing that Lu Yuxi going to sit in between her grandparents, Kang Mingyu, who had a seat right beside Kang Jun, hopped off his seat and then he made his way to the girl.

He then grabbed onto the girl's hand, pointed to the seat he had just left and then he said, "Go sit there."

Lu Yuxi was a bit speechless about what Kang Mingyu had just said. And as she was staring at the seat beside Kang Jun, Lu Yuxi hesitatingly shook her head.

"That's your seat..." She said simply.

Hearing this, Kang Mingyu shook his head. "There are no assigned seats here. Either way, I'm okay... I want to sit beside Uncle Liang,"

As he said this, he pulled on the chair at the end of the table beside Kang Liang.

"Okay." Lu Yuxi said softly as a huge smile bloomed in her face. She then hugged Kang Mingyu and said, "Thank you very much." Before she ran over to her father's side.

Taking a seat beside Kang Jun, Lu Yuxi's face brightened exponentially.

Seeing this, Kang Liang looked at the little boy proudly.

Truly, Lu AnLing wished she could do the same but the expression that appeared on her face was a bit sad. She was very shocked at how mature Kang Mingyu was being today. She had expected at least a small bit of jealousy but instead, the boy was being very considerate. Lu AnLing found this sweet but it also broke her heart. It was as if he was distancing himself from her, Kang Jun and Kang Mei Xue and this was the last thing they wanted.

But Lu AnLing was going to make sure to make it up to him. She wanted to show him her love, and so, she did.
