Gu Chu Nian was a small town girl and she had not been working in T City for long. This only meant that she knew almost no one in the city.
The only reason why she was able to be the event coordinator for Elder Tang's birthday party was because a friend of hers, the only friend she had in T City, had introduced her to Tang Bingyi.
Gu Chu Nian was thankful for the opportunity and so, she didn't want to mess it up, but never in a million years had she expected to see Suyin there.
Hearing Gu Chu Nian call out the name Suyin, Lu AnLing tilted her head.
"Did you just say Suyin?" Lu AnLing asked.
Hearing this, Gu Chu Nian turned to Lu AnLing and said, "Yes... I'm not completely sure, but I think that's Suyin... a girl I knew."
At first, Gu Chu Nian was unsure... Tang Yiling had gotten plastic surgery. This was not only to get rid of the burns on her face, but she had also gotten it to make herself prettier. However, even if she did this, her base, stayed the same.
"And who is this Suyin to you?" Lu AnLing said nonchalantly as she looked towards Tang Yiling. It was as if she was just trying to make conversation, but in fact, she was curious.
Gu Chu Nian touched her fringe and then she said. "She's a girl who used to be my neighbour. Years ago, there was a huge fire at her house and her father died and Suyin suddenly disappeared. Many people in my village always assumed that the worst had happened but..."
Gu Chu Nian looked at Tang Yiling who smiled brightly beside Ning Jie as the two interacted with the crowd that surrounded them.
"I'm glad she's safe." Gu Chu Nian said simply.
A part of Lu AnLing wanted to pry more but she decided against it. Suddenly, she saw that her family and the Kang's had finally arrived and so, she and Kang Jun excused themselves and went to greet their family members.

At the entrance, the Lu family and the Kang family walked through the venue doors. The two almost full families, minus Kang Liang, Qiao Lan, Feng Zhengyi, Wang Tingting and Kang Nianxi, had met each other at Kang Manor and the group had gotten to talking.
Lu Xiaoling and Mo Ruyi spoke a bit but they were fairly unsure how they felt about one another. They both exuded different levels of coldness and that made the other slightly uncomfortable. Though they tried to get along.
It was funny because they showed each other what they made others feel.
The ones who noticed this were their husbands who, at first found it hilarious, but once they entered the venue, the two took their eyes off their wives.
Xu Shen, who carried Lu Yuxi, and Kang Mu became fast friends. In the car, which Lu Xiaoling, Xu Shen, Kang Mu And Mo Ruyi had shared, the two had spoken enthusiastically the whole time.
Due to Xu Shen's personality, he was very likeable and he seldom disliked others and because Kang Mu was so relaxed, Kang Mu and Xu Shen got along well.
The conversation ranged from topic to topic and then, as they were walking into the venue, their conversation landed on the first time Kang Mu had met Lu AnLing.
Hearing about what had happened, Xu Shen had laughed. "AnLing is like that, she's a good girl though. She doesn't like injustice."
Kang Mu, who had had time to get over it, nodded, "I guess it wasn't right how I spoke to my father and her back then..."
"Don't worry about it too much, I'm sure she's forgiven you already." Xu Shen said nonchalantly as Lu Yuxi, who had already spotted Lu AnLing and Kang Jun, struggled in his embrace.
Feeling this, Xu Shen let the girl down.
As soon as she was down, Lu Yuxi ran to Rong Xin who held the hands of both Kang Mingyu and Kang Mei Xue.
Once she joined her siblings she alerted them to their parents and the three ran over to Lu AnLing and Kang Jun.
The two greeted their children with hugs and kisses.
From afar, Lu Xia who had just entered with Mo Sheng and Kang Liu Ran after they had spoken a bit outside, had noticed the scene. The two men were going to leave the family alone, but then Lu Xia pulled them both towards the couple.
Meanwhile, Elder Tang appeared from the crowd with Tang Huian and Tang Bingyi, who previously, had been checking the venue.
Elder Tang immediately saw the members of the Kang family and so, he greeted them. Then he turned towards the Lu's and said,
"You must be Lu AnLing's mother and father, I'm pleased to meet you," The old man said as he shook Lu Xiaoling and Xu Shen's hand. "Your daughter has been taking good care of my granddaughter and for that, I am thankful."
Grandma Lu and Grandpa Lu, who had gone to the washroom were the only Lu's missing from the group, so Elder Tang could not make the connection between Lu Lili and the Lu's that he was meeting right now.
"I'm glad my daughter has made such an impact on you," Lu Xiaoling said honestly. But other than that, she didn't know what other to say. It was like she was meeting her in law and so she felt a bit awkward. "But I'm sure your granddaughter has also been taking care of my daughter."
Elder Tang smiled.
On the other hand, Tang Bingyi, who was being mentioned, had said anything. Instead, she stood quietly with her mother but when Tang Bingyi saw Lu AnLing again, she ran up to the girl happily.
Ever since finding out that Lu AnLing was her cousin, Tang Bingyi had been happy. She had never been too close to the majority of her family members but now, Tang Bingyi had someone she could be close to.
As Tang Bingyi went towards Lu AnLing, Tang Huian made her way towards Lu Xiaoling.
Once Tang Huian laid eyes on Lu Xiaoling, the woman bowed slightly and said, "it's been a while,"
Hearing this, Lu Xiaoling frowned slightly and then said under her breath, "Not long enough..."
Because of her transgressions, Tang Huian acted very submissive in front of Lu Xiaoling. So much so, that it seemed like Lu Xiaoling was the Tang, and held power over Tang Huian.
Seeing this exchange, Many were confused about how Lu Xiaoling and Tang Huian knew each other but they didn't say anything, with the exception of Elder Tang.
"You two know each other?" Elder Tang said questioningly.
Tang Huian froze for a second but then she nodded, "She's an old friend..."
The way Tang Huian said this was awkward but it didn't matter. No more questions about the matter would come her way, because just as Elder Tang was about to say something else, Tang Yian appeared out of nowhere. He was calm and collected as he walked through the crowd with his slim fit suit. The man looked good. Like a professor, he was prim and proper but this was before he laid eyes on Lu Xiaoling. Right then, he frowned,
"What are you doing here?" The man said.
