Lu Xing loved living the easy life. He was suited for it, after all. But when he was fairly young he discovered that he loved traveling and freedom even more. However, traveling the world could only be a distant dream for him, because, as the first born son, his parents had expectations of him.
This had always weighed the man down, but due to his nature, slowly but surely, his whole being began to reject the business world.
Compared to his siblings, he was not smart, or patient or hard working. He was actually very relaxed and lazy and so, to make some easy money, the man had turned to gambling.
Gambling was sometimes a game of luck, sometimes a game of skill but most importantly, it was sometimes a game of knowing. Who you know could change whether you were a winner or a loser.
For a while, Lu Xing had been telling Lu Shuya and Kang Liang about the intricacies of the illegal gambling world but Lu Shuya wanted to hear more about the situation that happened with Kang Jun and Lu AnLing so instead of allowing Lu Xing to just say whatever he wanted, Lu Shuya directed his answers,
"So, who paid everyone to 'forget' about the Kang Jun situation?" Lu Shuya asked.
"I don't know his name. All I know is that one minute he was gambling, and then moments later he was paying people off..." Lu Xing said with a sigh.
"So he was a gambler?" Lu Shuya asked simply.
Hearing this, Lu Xing shrugged slightly.
"Rather than a gambler, I know he was trying to make loads of money. I don't know why though. He came into the game with a lot of money..." Lu Xing said as he tried to remember the events that had transpired back then. It wasn't hard though. Since he had been trying to dig up information for a while. "Though... there was something strange."
"What?" Lu Shuya asked.
"It was not necessarily about the man himself but... my friend and I were at the hotel on that day and that's were I first saw the man. He was arguing with another man in the bathroom..."
Thinking about something, Kang Liang said, "How did this other man look like?"
Lu Xing described the person.
As soon as Kang Liang heard the description, he felt something click.
"Anna..." Kang Liang whispered.
No one heard this, however, because Lu Xing continued to talk.
Lu Xing: "Their conversation was very strange, they were talking about how since the man had messed up, he had to sleep with Kang Zhi, instead, and ruin his reputation... but also, how the bartender had messed up and that they had drugged Kang Jun instead."
Hearing this, the faces of both Kang Liang and Lu Shuya twisted and then the two looked at one another in the eyes.
"So Kang Jun and AnLing were just collateral damage?" Lu Shuya asked with disgust.
Lu Xing shook his head.
"I'm not sure..." The man said as he sighed. And then he walked into his messy house and beckoned the two to take a seat before he spoke again. "Though one thing I know for a fact is that AnLing was involved by accident. I think Kang Jun might have also been accidental I guess, but they had time to stop Kang Jun from making a mistake, so, I'm not quite sure... What I understood about their plan was that they needed Kang Zhi to 'make a mistake'. They specified that 'one mistake was all that was needed'..."
Hearing this, Lu Shuya turned to Kang Liang and she then leaned close to him before she said, "Any idea why someone would want this?"
"Well... Certain family members preferred Jun over Zhi and vice verse... maybe it was one of them who did this." Kang Liang said as he touched his chin. Then he turned to look Lu Shuya straight in the eyes. The two were very close to one another, but in the moment they didn't notice, "The only problem is that there are many possible assailants... we need something more concrete. Like what they look like or what they sounded like..."
Hearing this, Lu Shuya turned to Lu Xing.
"The man looked really... normal. He didn't have many defining features..." Lu Xing said in a low tone, but then he looked at the two hopefully and said, "I'll remember him if I see him."
Hearing this, Lu Shuya sighed. "Well that's supremely not helpful."
After she had said this, Lu Shuya felt bad. She had truly wanted to make amends with her sister for how she treated her in the past but it seemed like the fates had other plans...
However, when she thought this, Kang Liang suddenly said,
"Actually... I think I might have an idea."

At Elder Trang's birthday party, things were going just as planned.
Usually, in situations like this, the competition would be treated in a way we're the visitors, in this case, Lu AnLing and Mo Sheng, would go first, but due to the fact that the contest had changed slightly, Tang Yiling complained.
"It's not fair that she gets to go first! It's an unfair advantage!" Tang Yiling said.
Lu AnLing and Mo Sheng exchanged looks, and after a couple of seconds, they both shrugged and then Lu AnLing said,
"Let her go first if she wants to."
Hearing this, the judges, who had been hesitating at first, had no choice but to agree.
Seeing Tang Yiling's victorious face, Lu AnLing just sighed and then she went backstage with Mo Sheng.
It didn't take long for Ning Jie and Tang Yiling to set up. Once they had, the two girls had begun to sing.
Unlike what Lu AnLing and Mo Sheng were about to do, Ning Jie and Tang Yiling had brought on a band to play their music for them. They had had the choice to either bring a band or bring a prerecorded track, but to the two, they believed that live music was better.
Without further wait, Tang Yiling and Ning Jie began to sing.
Seeing the band, Tang Yian frowned hard but he didn't say anything.
During the whole performance, Tang Yian listened without moving a muscle or showing any emotions and by the time it was done, the man just sighed.
Meanwhile, whole venue, including the other judges, erupted in applause.
Hearing this, Tang Yiling felt like she was on top of the world.
She was amazing. She knew it! But when she looked to her father, who she had expected to be clapping like the rest, Tang Yiling's heart sank slightly.
The man had remained stoic.
At first, Tang Yiling felt tremendously hurt but then, when she considered the situation, she felt a weight left off her shoulders and heart.
The man could not seem too happy for her because it would give the wrong impression!
Dismissing it as being 'just for show' Tang Yiling smiled hard. She was sure he father was proud of her.
After this, Tang Yiling and Ning Jie began to sing their second song.
This one was a very soft and sweet song compared to the first one, and so the two had to really use their voices.
Listening to this, Mo Sheng and Lu AnLing who had been sitting backstage were frozen in place, trying to gather themselves for their performance.
Turning to Lu AnLing , Mo Sheng said, "They're slightly off."
"Yea, but it's not something most normal people would hear..." Lu AnLing said simply, and then she laughed dryly. "Their harmony is also crap."
Hearing this, Mo Sheng laughed also.
Lu AnLing: "Anyways, we shouldn't be thinking of others. We'll be going on stage soon and I expect you to nail our performance!"
After saying this, she stretched her first out towards Mo Sheng.
Seeing this, Mo Sheng bumped his fist to hers.
"You know I will!" Mo Sheng said confidently.
