Sitting in his home office, where Rong Lihua had been living alone in, on most days, Kang Jun looked at his computer screen and frowned slightly.

His concentration was split between things concerning the infinity project and the situation involving Lu AnLing's safety, but obviously, the infinity project took a back seat to his wife.

Kang Jun was waiting for a report from Rong Xin, who had used some of his contacts to get information, but since the man was always with Lu AnLing, by Kang Jun's orders, Kang Jun was forced to wait until the man had dropped Lu AnLing and the kids back at the Kang Manor in order to talk.

When Rong Xin had finally arrived home, the man went straight to Kang Jun's office and once inside, Rong Xin began his report.

"It's been quiet lately... at least that's what the people I know are saying." Rong Xin said with a frown. "If I wasn't protecting AnLing, I would have recommended that I go check what's going on within the ranks of the bodyguards and then the army, but that would require me to leave her side for too long."

Kang Jun nodded. Even if Rong Xin left, Kang Jun couldn't just stay with Lu AnLing 24/7 and neither could he tell her that her life was in danger so she should just stay home... though he contemplated it...

Kang Jun hated keeping secrets from his wife, but he didn't know what else to do but protect her from the shadows. Thinking for a small while, Kang Jun thought of something.

"What are the main reasons why AnLing leaves the house?" Kang Jun asked curiously.

Rong Xin, without needing to think too much, said, "Going to the Tang household. Other than that, she doesn't go out."

Kang Jun nodded to this statement.

Elder Tang was sitting in the living room with Tang Luoyi when the man suddenly received a call.

Looking at his caller ID, Tang Luoyi who has been very calm since Lu AnLing had been revealed to be his cousin, looked at the phone with slight shock.

"Yiling?" Tang Luoyi said.

Hearing this, Elder Tang, who hadn't been paying much attention to the boy due to how sleepy and worried about Tang Huian and Tang Yiling he was, felt his ears peek.

Meanwhile, Tang Luoyi listened to Tang Yiling babble on the phone. Hearing what she had to say, Tang Luoyi frowned.

"You want to do what now? Are you sure that's a good idea?" Tang Luoyi asked. Hearing that she wanted to apologize to Lu AnLing sounded like a death wish to him. But what he didn't notice, was that the girl was at a dead end. This was her only chance.

Standing up from his seat, Tang Luoyi sighed and then he went to go grab his jacket and car keys. All at the same time, the boy listened to Tang Yiling speak, occasionally giving grunts as replies.

Once he was about to go out, he stopped, put his hand on his phone, turned to his grandfather, and said, "Gramps, I'm going to go see Yiling. I'll be back for dinner."

Hearing this, the old man nodded. He wanted to ask how the girl was doing, but he fought against it.

When the boy left, Elder Tang was left alone in the living room. It was a bit lonely. Tang Yian was upstairs, so the old man could just call his son, but when it was just himself and Tang Yian he felt a bit awkward and so, he grabbed his phone.

He was about to call Lu AnLing. The old man enjoyed the girl's presence. She was very sweet. So much so, that it triggered an old man's want to be dotted upon and Lu AnLing would do it without complaint.

She had always wanted a grandfather and so, she showed it in the way she acted.

As Elder Tang dialled the numbers, the doorbell suddenly ran.

"Did that Luoyi forget his house keys again...?" Elder Tang grumbled as he made his way to the door.

Elder Tang wasn't in a bad mood. In fact, he just felt a bit empty. Just like the house. He just wanted to be with his family again and enjoying their company. In his old age, the man had found himself feeling lonelier and lonelier and this emptiness was painful to bare. It made him crave the grave in order to be reunited with his wife, but the thought was unfair to his children and grandchildren, who would certainly cry when he was gone.

Thinking about this, Elder Tang decided he wouldn't scold Tang Luoyi uselessly anymore. The boy was improving and that was all that mattered.

Though, when he opened the door, he did not come face to face with Tang Luoyi but with Kang Jun instead.

"Kang Jun... what brings you here?" Elder Tang said weakly.

Out of all the people who could show up on his front porch, he had never, in a million years, expected it to be Kang Jun.

Seeing the old man's shock, Kang Jun decided to ignore it. Instead, he said, "May I come in?"

Hearing this, the elder nodded slowly at first but he didn't step aside, it was only when he said, "Of course, of course..." that the old man decided to move.

Kang Jun, not even acknowledging if Elder Tang's behaviour walked through the door. And as soon as he did, a cold air entered with him. This made the old man's bones hurt.

Feeling this, Elder Tang tensed slightly and clutched his cane. There was no doubt about it... Kang Jun's aura, when used or not suppressed, was something else all together.

How Elder Kang has raised such a man into existence was something Elder Tang could not comprehend.

Compared to Kang Zhi, who Elder Tang much preferred, Kang Jun was truly suited for the underworld. Darkness seemed to follow the man like a shadow and it awakened fear in all those around him.

"Is there something wrong?" Elder Tang asked as he followed behind Kang Jun who had walked all the way to the living room.

Kang Jun nodded. "Is there somewhere we could speak in private."
