What was worse was that that night, Kang Jun had gotten a call from the client who insisted on dropping them and handing the project over to another company.
Kang Jun was pissed but there was nothing he could do about it.
This situation wasn't a normal one though. He had never encountered this type of unprofessionalism in all his years at work.

Gazing over the details of the Infinity Project, Kang Jun called Mr. Long.
"Arrange a meeting with the person overseeing the infinity project." He commanded.
On the other end of the line, Mr. Long accepted his mission and went right on it. Hanging up, Kang Jun leaned his pounding head back in frustration. He wanted to quit the company and go on vacation.
He needed a solace before this job killed him, but he knew he couldn't just walk away from it.

Kang Jun pressed the phone to his ear.
There was no sound.
Slightly stunned by the lack of reply, Kang Jun reluctantly spoke. "Long Rui, is something wrong?"
Hearing his name being called, Mr. Long began to speak.
"I'm not sure sir, this is up to you to decide."
"Speak."
"The person in charge of the Infinity Project has been replaced."
Kang Jun's eyebrows furrowed when he heard this. The ones in charge of the Infinity project seldom ever replaced someone half way. Though, neither did the Kang Corporation but, just a few months ago, his grandfather had seized the project from Kang Nianxi and had given it to him, instead.
"Did you find out who they are?"
"Yes. I did. I set up a meeting for you but… the person is kind of strange."
Kang Jun frowned. "Strange? How so?"
Mr. Long didn't answer for a second, but Kang Jun could clearly hear typing from the other end of the line.
Mr. Long: "I sent you their details. It'll give you all the information you need."

Lu AnLing was supposed to have work today, but due to Xiao Mian's bachelorette party, Madame Liu had happily given the girl a day off.
Coming to Xiao Mian's house by taxi, Lu AnLing was not ready for what she was about to see. Once the house came into eyeshot, Lu AnLing rubbed them to make sure she wasn't hallucinating.

Lu AnLing stared at the house with an open mouth and bulging eyes. Not hiding any bit of surprise she had.
Examining the house, Lu AnLing couldn't help but compare her and Xiao Mian's situations and lament.
Would her life have been different if she hadn't gotten pregnant and lost 2 years of her life recuperating from her child's loss?
Lu AnLing couldn't help herself from thinking about it but she wasn't sure what the answer was. On one hand, she had no regrets when it came to having her child, but on the other, Lu AnLing couldn't deny that that decision had changed her life forever. She wouldn't be here, in this situation, if she had decided to go by Lu Shuya and their mother's advice.

Walking through the door, Lu AnLing saw a bunch of girls but then, she caught the eyes of Lu Shuya, but also Wang Tingting and many other girls from the socialite circle she used to frequent.
It was such a familiar pack. If Lu AnLing didn't know any better, she would have thought that she was back in high school.
The thought made her stomach roll.
"My little sister was supposed to be here but she misread my message and ended up booking the flight on a wrong day. But, we'll just have to have fun without her." Xiao Mian turned to look at the rest of the girls. "Isn't that right?"
The girls all answered affirmatively.
Leading the girls upstairs to her room, Xiao Mian had her back straight and strode up with elegance. Once upstairs, she gave them a semi-tour of the house, stopping every so often to open a door or two.
Opening the last door before her own, Xiao Mian said, "This is the room my fiancé keeps his things in. He has his own place closer to the city since he's so busy but on the weekends he comes and spends some time with me."
Many of the girls began to giggle.
"Awww you have the sweetest future hubby!"
"I bet he misses you to bits when you're not with him."
"I think it's so cute how you have a room for him in your house. Image how you'll feel like when he lives here."
Everyone knew that Xiao Mian was fishing for praises, and yet, they all gave it to her. But then, another voice spoke.
"Don't you worry that your man will cheat on you?"
All the girl's, including Lu AnLing turned to see who had said that. To Lu AnLing's surprise, the voice came from Wang Tingting.
Hearing this, Xiao Mian's face paled.
Lu Shuya, who had been standing quietly by Xiao Mian's side, turned to Wang Tingting with anger in her eyes.
"What the hell is your problem?! If you want to be a nuisance, leave." Lu Shuya screamed defensively.

"Who asked you to ask a question? No one. So shut up."
The two girls looked at each other with spite. Wang Tingting and Lu Shuya had never liked each other. Though because Wang Tingting would always take what the others would say or do to her, the girls barely had any major altercations.
"Is that really Tingting? Who does she think she is talking to Shuya like that?"
"She should be put in her place. Xiao Mian was just helping out the less fortunate by inviting her."
Hearing this, Wang Tingting glared at the girl's but then, she calmed herself and then gave them a look of superiority.
Seeing the way Wang Tingting carried herself, Lu Shuya felt her heart sink into her chest. She thought that the woman was trying to hold Lu AnLing's pregnancy over her head, so she shrank under Wang Tingting's gaze.
No one understood why she did such a thing, not even Lu Shuya or Xiao Mian but Lu AnLing did.
She was Kang Jun's brothers' woman, which made her status far higher than anyone in the room; including Lu Shuya and Xiao Mian.

At the Starlight Event, none of the people in the room had attended, and those who did could recognize neither Kang Nianxi, nor Kang Jun, at first glance.

"I got most of this stuff from films and show's I've been involved in. Pick anything you guys want. Tonight we'll be going to the Celestial Fox, so you better dress well!"
Many girls in the room began to cheer, while Lu AnLing began to groan.
