The dust cleared and the Monferno could be seen kneeling on the ground with a face full of pain as he tried to catch his breath. The attack from the berserk Onix was quite strong making his body take a lot of damage. He raised his head and looked at the one who attacked him a moment ago and his eyes filled with anger.
Saad who was worried for Monferno heaved a sigh of relief when he saw his Pokemon still conscious. After verifying that Monferno was still able to stand, he turned his face towards the Onix that was emitting smoke after taking the Flame Thrower head on but it would seem that the attack didn't do him much damage maybe because of his resistance towards the fire attacks.
"Monferno! Can you still battle?", Saad asked in worry.
Monferno who was still catching his breath nodded and raised his body to stand up straight again as the fire on his tail began to burn even more fiercely.
Rocky who was standing on the other side of the arena stared at his Onix in disappointment and turned his face towards Saad.
"I am sorry for this farce. I am ashamed that I didn't train this new Pokemon of mine properly"
"…...It's okay..", Saad nodded while feeling surprised that this strong Onix was a newly caught Pokemon.
"I am sorry but It would be embarrassing to let this go on anymore…...Onix return", Rocky sighed as he recalled the Pokemon back.
"Onix is eliminated! Monferno Wins...", the referee announced after seeing Rocky's action.
Saad stared silently at Rocky after seeing his choice and waited for him to choose his final Pokemon. Monferno has also walked in front of him as he faced forward waiting for his new opponent.
"Well,...if I don't give you guys a good challenge..that will be bad...", Rocky stared at Saad as he took out a new Pokeball.
"Come out my friend!... I choose you"
Rocky threw his Pokeball and a dazzling red light flashed as a strange Pokemon appeared in front of Saad and Monferno. It had a dome head, which obstructed its red eyes. It has blue stripes, one on its tail and one on each of its knees and wrists. It has various spikes on his knees, neck, nose and his head. Although the two of those head spikes were bigger than the other two on his head.
Saad stared astonishingly at the Pokemon. He has never seen a Pokemon like that anywhere, not in the books, nor in any tournament. He raised his finger with his face full of surprise as he pointed at the strange Pokemon that looked like a small dinosaur.
"What...Pokemon is that?"
Rocky looked at the surprised Saad and laughed lightly,
"It's no wonder that you have not seen this Pokemon before. It's been believed to have gone extinct thousands of years ago. Its called Rampardos."
Saad's mouth opened wide as he muttered,
"If it is extinct then…..."
Rocky smiled and continued,
"It's a fossil Pokemon that has been revived by the scientists. Some researchers have been experimenting for a long time to find ways to bring extinct species back from their fossils and recently they succeeded. And although they are still quite valuable I managed to get my hands on this fellow somehow..hahaha"
Saad stood their silently as he digested the words he heard just now. He looked towards the strange Pokemon in front him as his eyes began to gleam happily. Extinct Pokemon,….just the concept of it made his heart beat faster. Imagining all those extinct Pokemon that can be seen walking on this earth soon, he began to smile happily.
Rocky looked at the boy who was fancying about his Pokemon and said with a smile,
"Okay! That's enough talking...We are having an official battle here."
Saad came to his senses as he heard those words and stared at Rocky while replying,
"Sorry about that….We can continue now"
Rocky nodded with a serious face and commanded his Pokemon,
"Rampardos! Use Head Butt"
The mini dinosaur nodded as he stuck out its head and attacked by charging straight into the Monferno. Despite his build, his speed was impressive as he quickly rushed close to Monferno.
"...What's with this speed!!!...", Saad exclaimed with his mouth wide open.
"Monferno! Counter it with Mach Punch"
Monferno who was standing silently there nodded and charged towards the upcoming Pokemon with his fist glowing brightly and soon collided with his target, sending a loud noise everywhere as both the Pokemon stopped in their track and so, a clash of strength began as both the Pokemon tried their best to overpower other. But the one to lose was Rampardos as he took a few steps back by Monferno's strong attack.
Saad was not happy by this as he stared directly at the Pokemon as he muttered,
"Just a normal attack of his is strong enough to counter Mach Punch….."
Rocky who was standing there nonchalantly smiled lightly as he directed his Pokemon,
"Rampardos! Continue using Head Butt"
Rampardos who was standing on his feet silently nodded as he stared at Monferno with his deep red eyes. He let out a loud cry and jumped straight at Monferno with his head lowered slightly. He quickly reached his target and rammed his head again at the Monkey.
"Monferno! Use Mach Punch again"
Monferno nodded and countered the Rampardos head butt with his punch.
This continued for a while as both the beasts clashed again and again with each other using the same attacks. The whole arena began to echo with the sound of their clash as the battle got more and more intense.
Rocky and Saad stared silently at the two beasts as they raged at each other.
After a few attacks, it began clear to everyone who was at the loss. Monferno who was countering Rampardos, again and again, began to breathe heavily as he used most of his stamina.
Saad stared worryingly at his Pokemon and muttered,
"I can't let it go on like this...I need to finish it quickly somehow."
"Monferno! Retreat and use Flame Thrower!"
Monferno who was breathing heavily nodded as he jumped back with his agile feet as he stared at the Pokemon. He opened his mouth as fire gathered in there. He took a deep breath and after a few seconds spat a huge fire attack at his opponent.
Rocky smiled seeing the attack and shouted,
"Rampardos! Counter it!!"
Rampardos who was standing there looking at Monferno nodded and under Saad's surprised eyes, his mouth began to lit up with fire as he spat a pillar of fire at Monferno.
The two attacks collided and a clash of two fire attacks began. The whole arena began to heat up as the rocks nearby began to melt. The bright light caused by the two raging attacks made it impossible for Saad to keep his eyes open.
Saad who was standing there trying his best to open his eyes suddenly jolted as the bright red light in the arena dimmed and smoke began to rise in the sky. His eyes opened wide as he stared at the arena where the Rampardos was standing still. Saad suddenly got a bad premonition as he quickly looked towards where Monferno was standing a moment ago.
"Monferno!!!", Saad shouted as he saw his Pokemon kneeling there with smoke gathered around him.
After confirming that Monferno was okay, Saad turned back to Rampardos as he exclaimed,
"It can use fire attacks???"
Rocky smiled seeing the astonishment on Saad's face and explained calmly,
"It is not unheard of that Pokemon can use attacks of other Types. You must have heard of some Electric Pokemon using Iron Tail, right?"
Saad turned towards Rocky and nodded,
"Hm, I know of that but….."
"You should not be surprised by that…..Pokemon World is filled with unexplained mysteries. These creatures are very fascinating, even now we humans don't know everything about them.", Rocky smiled as he continued,
"If trained properly these Pokemon can harness amazing physical attributes making them able to take a step further in the realm of mysteries. It is said that some Pokemon out there in this world can learn abilities of nearly all types, though I have never seen a Pokemon like that myself."
Saad who was immersed listening to the words of Rocky began to smiled excitedly as he began to imagine the possibility of such a Pokemon. Listening to Rocky's words, made him realize that there are many things he still doesn't know about in this world.
Rocky who was now silently waiting for Saad to calm down smiled and said,
"We should continue.."
Saad jolted hearing those words and came to his senses. He turned his face towards his Monferno who was standing there with exhaustion on his face as he breathes heavily. <It looks like it will be the final clash> Saad thought as he nodded,
"Monferno! Use Flame Wheel"
Monferno nodded as he jumped in the air curling his body as the fire began to gather around him. He landed on the grounded as rolled swiftly at Rampardos with his full speed.
Rocky stared at his Pokemon and said with a smile,
"About time I finish this...Rampardos! Use Head Smash"
Rampardos let out a roar as his body got surrounded by a whitish-blue aura, making it seem black and white. He eyed the upcoming Monferno and shot towards him with his head pointed straight at him. And soon both the Pokemon made contact as Rampardos slammed his head at the burning flame wheel. The attack caused a loud boom as a cloud of dust gathered around the arena.
Saad stared at the arena with sweat on his forehead as the dust began to settle down and the outcome of the huge clash could be seen clearly.
"Monferno!!"
