Registering to Guild

The adventurer’s guild on the outskirts of the capital city had a decent appearance. Although it is a wooden building, it has a solid structure,  so it would be suitable for a building where adventurers who are strong come and go.

When I pushed the door on which the signboard with the emblem of the adventurer’s guild was placed, Nod heard loud noise inside the guild with.

Taverns where adventurers gather mostly exist around the city, the reason is that is why they are said to be in the trap for monster , it is easy to handle when a monster comes to attack the city, or it become easier for adventurer gather in the city with a dirty appearance, Nod thought that the noise was unexpectedly simple, rather than being troublesome.

Perhaps the reason why it wasn’t so noisy when Nod was outside was probably because the 【Quiet & Silent】magic or something was put on the building. However, if you open the door, it will leak out. The adventurer’s guild where people come and go is not suitable for place close to the city center where law and order are preferred.

Nod then looked inside the adventurer’s guild while thinking about that.

Directly from the entrance. There is a large counter in the area in front of the entrance. There are a numbers of guild employees working in uniforms.

There is only something like that in the capital city, and the adventurer guild here is big. The staff of nearly guild employees  at the counter have been constantly working to organize documents and respond to visitors.

The counter is on the right side from the entrance. It is installed so as to extend toward it, and in that place  there is counter labeled “Juban”, which is closest to the entrance. There is a door that has sign says, “No Entry, Guild Staff Only” is may be an entrance to the counter..

On the other side seen from the entrance. After passing through the counter, it continued to the inner room to a tavern.

The adventurer’s guild is often called “Adventurer’s Tavern” and no matter where you go to the adventurer’s guild in any city, there is always a tavern in the guild.

There are two reason.

The adventurers who have received a commission from the guild (as an intermediary) and received the reward are small and big, so they can eat and drink at a guild-run tavern and return money to the guild again. Money recollection is probably their aim.

And if a bad adventurer who is not well-behaved eats and drinks outside the adventurer’s guild gets drunk and become violent, complaints will enter the adventurer’s guild who has jurisdiction over the adventurer, so when they do their bad habit at least they do it in the guild. That is the prevention reason.

These two reason are thought to be the reason, but Nod himself thinks that both are good reason.

While Nod was thinking about that, Nod also see there is a line of customers who lined up, and there was a counter where no one else was lined up.

Nod approached that counter.

“Welcome to the Adventurer’s Guild! What are your business today?”

Even the maid head serving the Ferris family, doesn’t has a perfect pronunciation and smile like that.

Nod told the business in a straightforward manner while admitting the receptionist  who didn’t tired even though they already did lot of work.

“I came  here to register as an adventurer”

After Nod tell what he need, the staff of the the receptionist took out a document with a smile and presented it to Nod.

“If you have your name, your skills and your previous career, please fill in. We can also write it for you but it cost money, but what will you do?”

“No, it’s fine”

Even if it poor, Nod is still a child of a noble family.

Nod know how to read and write and also arithmetic.

Nod put the quill pen attached to the counter, uses it with ease and wrote the name and skill in the document.

He returned the feather brush to the original place and gives the completed document to the receptionist. Since there was no service experience in the career column, it was left blank. He wrote only “Swordsmanship” in the skill column.

The submitted documents were accepted without any particular problems.

The registration fee was a bit of money, but it was a small amount, but the current Ferris family has no money to spare it. After paying out with his own money, the staff started working at the counter. After a while, the work was over followed by an explanation of the guild rules.

Summarizing the explanation of the receptionist,

① The adventurer’s guild mediates the request from the client, and the adventurer takes over the request. After its finished, a reward minus the commission is paid to the adventurer.

② The adventurer pays a penalty in principle when the request fails. Penalties are added to the reward and used to make it easier for higher adventurers to accept it. There is no penalty for commissions that are always posted. (Such as collecting herbs)

③ The adventurer’s guild issues a guild card as an identification card indicating the guild member’s affiliation. This is a small plate that can only be used by the owner, and there is a fee for reissue it. Losing a high-ranked guild card incurs a large fee and penalty.

④ The guild arranges adventurers for a party, but is not involved in anything within the party. However if the party act like a criminal such as theft or murder of guild members, involvement is permitted as a general rule and they will be stripped from their guild membeship.

⑤ Guild members who have been deprived of their status are basically unable to undertake any work at the guild in the city. If a guild is found to be a serious violator, it may circulate to guilds in other cities and countries.

⑥ The adventurer’s guild is not involved at all for requests that do not involve the adventurer’s guild. Fully self-responsible.

It was an explanation of the six contents.

All of this is natural, but it is a necessary explanation for a adventurer-aspiring person who has a lot of brutals (and by the way, is likely to be an dumb and rash person). Nod thoughts so.

After receiving an explanation of the adventurer’s guild rules,  Nod received a guild card.

* The bottom-most rank adventurer guild who just registered is treated as a newbie, but this newcomer still considered to be not  an adventurer.

They considered to be less than an adventurer and just a amateur who has just submitted documents with a small change.

After that, the newbie undertook and fulfilled a request for a newcomer who also served as a minimum training. After that they seems to be given a guild card as an official adventurer.
