Bad communication, huh? As a Prince, a public figure in the Empire. Why is he bad at speaking? It makes sense for Lyn since she seldom interacts with anybody. But, him? It seems ridiculous, considering how many social events he attends too. A bad speaker? This is the first time he's heard it.

Lyn chuckled, "Don't think too hard about it, it's a figure of speech," she trailed off. "Allen, get some rest. You've been working too hard; lately, you deserve it."

....

3 hours later

Did he sleep? Allen looked up and found that his position had remained unchanged. Unchanged? Allen saw Lyn peering at him, the girl's eyes brightened.

"Ah! You're awake."

"Your legs," Allen immediately shot up.

Lyn laughed awkwardly, "It's okay," Lyn stood up, "I'll get you something to eat Allen, you must be hungry."

The moment Lyn got up; however, the girl immediately sank to the ground. Allen sighed, what a clumsy girl. He supposes

Lyn seemed very happy, "Allen, you're so good to me recently."

"Was I not treating you well enough?"

"Well," Lyn trailed off, "You were good to me, but we didn't talk much."

"I'm not very good at speaking."

"I know you're clumsy."

He's clumsy? "Says the one who just tripped."

"Isn't that your fault?"

Allen wondered what this feeling was — speaking with her like this, even if it is about mundane topics. Before Allen could say anymore, he spotted Carlo at the doorway.

"Prince Allen," Carlo said, "You've been summoned to Castle."

"Ah, brother-in-law," Lyn said.

Allen frowned, "Don't call him brother-in-law."

"But, he is..," Lyn must have seen his expression since she caressed his cheek, "I'll come with you."

.....

Saffron Manor

Allen has always accepted several things, that he would always be third in contrast to his brothers, he would not be given any fork of responsibility, and if he wanted to get recognized. He would have to do something. Something grand. Something that would benefit his brothers.

In the end, everything he worked for was the sole purpose of making his two brothers successful. Which is why he couldn't understand why that guy did what he did? Even long before he switched back to her side, Allen questioned his brother's methods. But he dispelled those thoughts every single time, believing that it was alright.

That what he was doing was the right thing. But that was wrong, causing havoc for no reason. Dragging in the lives of the innocent to make a particular individuals suffer, that was something he could not allow even more so since that individual is her.

His gaze fell on his fiance, who was busy reading a book. 'She actually came along,' Allen thought. He thought she would back away; Lyn disliked getting involved with his siblings and cousins as much as possible.

"Prince Allen."

His thoughts broke off when he saw the owner of the voice in front of him. It was his brother's sea-colored right hand, "Prince Shiki will see you now."

Allen turned to Lyn, "And her?"

"He wishes to meet with you alone."

Allen frowned but Lyn reached over to his surprise the girl kissed his cheeks. It was soft, but a kiss nonetheless, "I'll be okay? I'll be right here."

Allen gave a light nod as he proceeded down the hall until he arrived at the golden rimed doors at the bottom of the hallway. After a light knock, he made his way inside indeed to find his brother there. "Ah, Allen it has been a long time. Please take a seat."

"....this will be adequate," Allen mutters, standing in front of him.

"As uptight as ever I see. Well, I guess it can't be helped, being stuck with Sean for so long." He flinches slightly at the mention of the elder brother Shiki noticed since his expression changed to an apologetic one almost immediately. "Forgive me, that was rather straightforward."

"No...."

It's understandable.

Before the atmosphere got anymore strained and awkward, Allen reported the events of the battle. From the very start to the very end. It was quite a detailed report since after the battle ended, he allowed himself to have a meeting with one of those two who informed him of any gaps that he had been missing — the reason why his elder brother did what he did.

It was for the emotion of love, which he didn't understand this entire time — that emotion which he would not use for anyone except her.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

"And that is all I have left to report," Allen said. The person who was sitting down behind his desk was none other than his second eldest brother. Makoto Shiki, unlike the rest of them he inherited their mother's dark-colored hair and ginger-colored pupils. But even so, he always found it odd how he and Sean were... far too similar in terms of resemblance.

Shiki sat back, " I see... So the manor's destruction was because of him after all he figured that one day it would end up this way. After all, ever since you were born, that guy was acting strange."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"I suppose I should tell you about it now. Because I'm sure, you already have the faintest idea. But Martha wasn't your mother."

His eyes went wide, but they quickly shifted back to the usual one, "Lady Martha be your and his..mother then?" Allen said, not naming the deceased fourth Prince.

The auburn colored haired boy nodded, " It isn't uncommon for members of the elite to have several others. But indeed it's been a long time since it's happened. That's why during the time father was received quite the backlash. Sean was already 7years old then, and yet he understood the situation full well. He couldn't understand why...why father would marry someone else.

And what's more, having a son of 5 years that was me. In other words, two years after his marriage with his first wife, he was already seeing mother. You should not blame father, though.

His relationship with mother had always been healthy, and it turned out that they were lovers in their childhood, who only parted because he got engaged."

The 'Sean,' his brother was mentioning was his other older brother.

Shiki continued as twirled a pen in his hands, "Sean, knew this and was even more furious. Of course, it's normal, to find out your father never really loved your mother and everything was due to a political marriage. When mother became part of the elite, they gave him the chance to marry her. Your mother Lady Cathia was never bitter about it in public, but behind the scenes, it appeared as though she cried quite a bit.

Mother had no intentions of gaining anything from the marriage with father. She only wished to have a family with him - that's why she left the other duties to Lady Cathia. But the lady took this as a challenge, as a mere act of pity and so the lady worked herself quite a bit. Until she grew extremely ill, but she was with a baby during that time."

"Me."

Shiki nodded. " She passed away after giving birth to you. You were the final grant of life she had in her, and she ensured you were delivered safely before passing away. Although at the start she never held a grudge. By the end, it turned to ' Yes, now I have given him another son. That woman will not stand a chance'."

So that's what happened.

Then it made sense now why Sean always acted that way towards him, "...because I'm the reminder of our mother?"

A deep sigh escaped Shiki's lips, "Yeah. But it's a shame how it ended up. Because three years after you were born...so was he. With Lady Cathia passed away, we believed it wouldn't be right for you not to have a mother figure. Which is why she raised you? That is the truth behind everything, and the reason why Sean drove you to a corner so much."
