"Correct, your only doing your duty. But let me ask you, duty over my heart?" Lyn questioned. The Princess question surprised her. As a Princess, I've never had the opportunity to choose. Naturally, my answer is chosen for me; I have to choose my duty above my heart. The marriage with Allen will serve as an alliance, and bring peace to the Two Kingdoms."

Pupillam's eyes widened when she registered the Princess words. She didn't know why this surprised her so much. Princess Lyn has always thought Prince Allen is only marrying her for benefits. However, surely even the Princess has noticed how kind he treats her? No, in the first place one should not underestimate the Princess level of obliviousness. Sadly, she thinks this way, after all, Prince Allen is truly serious about her. However, as a mere guard and aide, this is all she can do. The rest is up to them. Duty over her heart, huh? Pupillam wondered when did those two things merge. When did she stop seeing the boundary?

"Are you interested in the philosophy of law? Take these books with you, your a quick learner after all."

This kind man with a friendly smile is one of her teachers. Pupillam heard he was assigned to this place, and immediately came over to visit him. During this time, the Princess would be taking a nap. Usually, Pupillam would stand guard by her door, but, 'Prince Allen is too sly,' she thought. Pupillam recalled how she casually saw him slip out of the meeting and head to the Princess chambers.

"Thank you."

"You've always been interested in such books, even when you were younger."

Her sweatdropped, "I apologize for causing you problems."

"Not at all, so how is being Princess Lyn's aide? I saw you two come in together; you appear to be very close."

"The Princess is a very carefree person."

She is so carefree at times that Pupillam forgets that she is a mere caged bird.

"But, your taking care of her well correct?"

Pupillam thought back to the recent events and sighed, "I could do a better job," she mumbled. Since the Sound Kingdom group came, her position as the Princess guard is in danger. Those two are always going to such extreme lengths to protect Lyn.

"Sometimes I think how much of a waste it is — your a quick learner and very talented. But as a female warrior, there are limits to your body. No, even if you were a man, perhaps your fate would still be the same. Unless you are in love with the Princess."

Ah, yes that's what it is. People go to such extent for the ones they love. Is it because she doesn't hold romantic affections for the Princess, that she fails to protect her? Will she always fail to protect the Princess because of that reason?

"Hey."

"What do you want?" Pupillam looked at him suspiciously.

"You got hit earlier, let me see."

Pupillam blinked confused; she wasn't expecting this at all. In the end, Pupillam found herself sat down on the chair, as Rhys applied some ointment onto her arm. "You, really like the Princess, right?"

"Yeah."

"And you're a Prince too?"

Rhys skilled, "What's with the question, going to give your Princess to me because I have the right status to stand by her?"

Pupillam rolled her eyes, "The Princess marriage has was decided a long time ago. No matter what you do, nothing will change."

"Even if her heart changes?"

"The reason the Princess stayed by Prince Allen's side is not because of her feelings."

"It isn't?"

"It's because of her duty," Pupillam recalled the Princess expression earlier and sighed. But if it were up to her, Pupillam would want the Princess to choose the path that made her happy. But as her guard, she knew better than to be selfish. "Earlier, I apologize for overreacting. However, it was the first time I saw the Princess act in that manner."

The Princess behavior around Rhys was far too unusual.

"Duty over what she wants, huh? Being a Princess doesn't suit her character at all."

"That's a grave insult to one of the royal family members."

"But," Rhys interjected, "You understand it to don't you? As her aide, you should know better than anyone that this kind of lifestyle does not suit her."

"I know," Pupillam mumbled. Of course, she knew. How many years has she stayed by the Princess side? How many things has she seen, of course, she knew. "But there is nothing that can be done. The Princess is born as a member of royalty. Even if people were to revoke her status, she was born to be noble."

Her thoughts broke off when she spotted black hair by the door.

"Princess!"

"You were eavesdropping."

Lyn chuckled, "I'm sorry. I was just a bit curious."

Rhys stood up and walked over, "You look pale, shouldn't you go to sleep?"

"I'm fine Rhys."

'These two really do have good chemistry with each other,' Pupillam thought. But, she cannot support them no matter what happens. Rhys actually isn't a bad guy, despite those rumors about him being a womanizer. Pupillam could genuinely tell how much he cared for the Princess. However, that other one is the one who annoyed her. Why does he keep rushing of? Doesn't he know how lonely the Princess get?

Her thoughts broke off when she hears a crashing sound and looked over. The bookshelf had been on the verge of falling, but Rhys stopped it. His gaze darkened, and the man looked around. Pupillam did the same but couldn't find anybody. How strange, there is nobody else around, but the bookshelf fell...

Is there a secret passage? Pupillam bit her lip. Come to think of it, and Prince Andrew told her about it before. However, the only ones who know about the existence of such a place would be members of the royal family. Members of the royal family?

Princess Lethia...

The Princess must have understood since she quickly spoke up, "Pupillam, I am all right."

"But, the First Princess is..."

"I'm okay," Lyn said, her voice sharp, "My sister in her own way means well. If I weren't a threat to her, she would simply leave me be. But it seems like I've become a threat."

Pupillam paused, indeed with the recent events. Princess Lyn is growing more influential, and that's not the scary thing. Even though Princess Lyn is a member of the royal family, people don't dislike her. Sure when they find out who she is, at first, they think they've been tricked. But, that quickly vanishes.
