Lyn's reaction surprised him. While Kazuya understood that she was not the shy and naive girl everybody thought she was. He thought Lyn would understand that Rhys was trying to protect her. Crap, Kazuya looked away. He can't let her know that he feels relieved. Kazuya genuinely thought that Rhys actions would move Lyn. But, Kazuya looked over at her expression. It's not that she isn't moved, it's more like she doesn't know what to do.

"Kazuya, do we still have to go on the date?"

He smiled weakly, "No," Kazuya shook his head. "Tell me where you want to go."

East Market - Rooftop - 8:00PM

Lyn's gaze flickered onto the village bellow. People were still busy despite it being this late at night. 'What a busy and lively town.' She wonders if it had always been like this? She didn't want to cancel that date with Kazuya, but when she thought about the current situation. Lyn knew she couldn't use this chance to enjoy herself. Brother is very strict about letting her out since she is a suspect. Still, when Lyn recalled the investigation she did with Kazuya earlier, she sighed.

'No good information.' Then again, what happened at that recent event was mysterious. She hears a pair of footsteps approaching, and didn't look up to know who it was.

"Shioka, you found me?"

"Your not the best person to track these days my dear."

Lyn laughed, "I'm sure you know what I've been up to right?"

"The Second Princess is a suspect for a murder.. Word is getting around you know? Combined with the rumors that your ugly, they are twisting their words a lot now."

"I'm sure they are, but that's just how things are. As long as I have this mark, then I won't get any peace."

"That mark huh," Shioka sighed. "I don't think it's cursed at all. You've had it for so long, and it hasn't done anything bad like people said it would."

"Are you forgetting this recent case?"

Shioka shook his head, "It's a setup. Somebody is trying to frame you."

"Did you check on my eldest sister?"

"I did, and your right. She is acting suspiciously."

'So it's her?' No, "She's been meeting with people outsiders from other Kingdoms?"

"Yeah, at first I thought they were all under the treaty. But, they are rogues that don't belong to the circle at all."

The circle and treaty Shioka mentioned are Kingdoms, and respected individuals under the Mist Kingdom's protection. Or we have an alliance with. As the First Princess, it would be natural for her sister to go out and meet those people. But, as expected, "Meeting with people outside the treaty is forbidden, because they have no loyalty. Of course, there is nothing wrong with giving them a chance. But, they'd have to enter through the same conditions as Kazuya's group did."

"These people aren't eligible, they have a cross mark."

Individuals marked with a cross are considered dangerous individuals. People who have violated the law, or who have harmed someone. This brand can be placed anybody who commits a crime, even her brother has one.

Lyn sighed, "My sister isn't fit for the throne. What use is there resorting to using outsiders to deal with me?"

"You tell me what that crazy woman is thinking."

"Does my sister intend to ruin my reputation?"

"It seems like it."

"Even at the cost of innocent peoples lives?"

"Lyn…."

Her gaze darkened, "Up till now I have not made a move against my sister. Ever since I was young, I knew it was her who fed the servants with lies so I could suffer. When she could no longer do that, she switched to trying to kill me whenever she could. Even then, I did nothing. As long as she only went after me, I didn't mind. But, recently she's dragged more and more people into it. Gabrielle getting attacked, Pupillam too, and now the towns folk. Those around me are getting hurt because of my sister's insecure feelings and."

It's not like Lyn didn't understand, her sister was insecure. That was fine. It's normal to have such feelings. Lyn would not dismiss those. However, at the expense of innocent people's lives? Lyn could no longer tolerate it.

Shioka spoke up, "Put that weapon away, you'll attract attention."

Laughter escaped her lips, "Were on the roof for a reason."

"You do realize your magic is flowing through that weapon? You're blood lust is frightening, do you really want your sister dead?"

"You know I love my dear sister. No matter how badly she treated me, I've always looked up to her." Indeed, that was true. Even though Lyn knew it was her sister who instructed the servants to be cruel to her. Lyn didn't judge her at all, she didn't resent her.

".."

"But, enough is enough. This time around she is including the lives of innocent people. Even, I have a conscious you know?"

She cannot stand idly by and watch as people die, because of her sister. No, because of her so many people are dying again.

A deep sigh escaped Shioka's lips, as he ran his hand through his hair. Clearly he was thinking of ways to stop her. Despite how dangerous Shioka is, even he has his limits with his requests. He doesn't give her jobs that are too difficult to handle. But then again, if he underestimated her she wouldn't associate herself with him anymore. The two had a mutual agreement. He provides her with information. While she gives him a tool he can make use of.

"But still, there are many people who support your sister. What can you say about that? Does that mean your sister represents the voice of the people?"

Lyn shook her head, "No, even if they are listening to her now. Sister's hideous crimes will eventually come to light. The truth can't be hidden forever, especially in the Empire. If my mother had a hard time dealing with the previous King's case. Then something like my sister's dirty deeds will eventually be exposed. Besides, do you think my sister's faction won't change their minds?"

"What do you mean?"

"Voices of dissatisfaction will always occur. People will not be satisfied with what they have. Conflict would arise no matter what. As long as the Empire itself doesn't change as a whole, nothing will change. Even if these fractions rise up, it is only a temporary measure. There is no true way to satisfy the people. That's why the seed of conflict can never vanish."

This was something Lyn understood after watching the Empire from the sidelines.
