Year 4014- Mist Kingdom

That was the first time for her, seeing Mother act that way. Actually, Lyn had followed right after them, so she had been watching for a while now. The flirting aside, that conversation… Lyn was always under the impression that Mother liked her second husband. After all, her eldest sister would always talk about it whenever she got the chance.

But from what she heard just now that's not the case — giving birth to a child from the man who forced themselves on you. Her Mother must have gone through a lot before she could accept Lethia. But from the very start, Lethia was raised with love and care, that much Lyn could see.

"Prince John, please calm your anger,"

Lyn stopped walking, and quickly his behind the pillar.

"Calm my anger? I cannot stand that sight. What's more, Prince Allen is not denying it."

"Prince John, did you truly think it was a lie?"

"That woman is very cunning; she is not as innocent as she seems. It wouldn't be strange for her to ask somebody she trusts to become her fake boyfriend," Lyn shuddered at his words. How come this man knows things about her? How much has he stalked her? Lyn felt the creepy feeling from the past return to her; John continued, "And yet," he gripped the sword in his hands, "Why is it real?"

Ah, they really succeeded in tricking him.

"Prince John, I thought you only wanted to possess the Princess. There are thousands of beautiful women out there.."

"Shut up; I only want Lyn."

Usually, those words would sound very sweet. But Lyn continued to shudder.

"Prince John,"

"Have you received word from home yet? What is Father's next move? How do we kill Queen Orthez?"

Her eyes widened, and she covered her mouth. Kill her Mother? Is that the reason why he came here? Certainly, her Mother does hold the most power in the empire. But the ones who are actually in charge are the Wind Kingdom. This is not the first time somebody has tried to kill her Mother. Mother is often exposed to these things. However, 'This man is too dangerous,' Lyn pulled out a recording crystal from her pocket and recorded the rest of the conversation. She ought to give this to her brother later.

The only reason why her brother could not do anything about Prince John of the Stone Kingdom is because there is no evidence that he is doing any harm. What's more, 'This is her second brother's fault,' Lyn muttered. There is nothing wrong with making friends with a Prince from another Kingdom. But Lyn wishes he would be more cautious. The Mist Kingdom's treaty with other Kingdom's is still dodgy.

"Yes sir, a message arrived this morning. However, your father intends to use Queen Orthez weak point to deliver the final blow," the man trailed off, "Princess Lyn."

"Weak point? That woman doesn't care for her."

"On the contrary sir, there are rumors amongst the Queen's soldiers that Queen Orthez plans to make Princess Lyn the next Queen."

"Oh? They will give her the throne?"

Give her the throne? That's ridiculous. Her thoughts broke off when she caught a glimpse of Kazuya by the bridge. Her eyes lit up, and she rushed over and stopped the recording. This should be enough.

Lyn skipped merely over to Kazuya.

"Kazuya!" Lyn beamed happily as she rushed up to him.

Kazuya looked over at her, "Went to the banquet to get you, but your brother said you came here," he laughed, "Miss me?"

Lyn nodded, "Yes!" she hugged him, "Can we spend some time together now?"

"Yeah."

...

Even though she was walking around with Kazuya, Lyn realized that her thoughts remained on what she heard earlier. So, even though she probably ought to have thought it through Lyn told him.

"The First Princess father, huh?"

"Have you met him?"

Kazuya nodded, "Yeah, I had a bad experience with that guy. He thought I was trying to seduce his daughter because Lethia kept talking about me."

Lyn frowned, "It's the other way around."

"Mmm, don't get angry. It was a long time ago. I spoke with him in private and convinced him it wasn't like that."

Still, she doesn't like the idea that there were once rumors about them. Or rather, Lyn leaned into his arm, "Kazuya, I'm still not used to this couple thing."

"Yeah."

"And I think I should tell you, I'm not completely innocent or oblivious," Lyn muttered. She doesn't want to give anything away. But Lyn wanted to warn him. Lyn doesn't want Kazuya to let his guard down around her completely. Just in case something were to happen.

"You know, I know more about you than you think."

Lyn blinked in confusion at his words, why does he sound so confident? Her thoughts broke off when she felt his hands on hers, "Eh?"

"Let me take you somewhere."

Lyn felt somebody's piercing gaze on her and recalled that Prince John was still around. Lyn immediately buried her face in Kazuya's arm, "What's wrong?"

"Kazuya, cuddle."

"Yeah."

As long as she is with Kazuya, then nothing will go wrong. That much she is sure about. But, her gaze darkened. She really does have to deal with Prince John. Though many have attempted to hurt Mother, nobody with Prince John status has attempted to do so before. This feels dangerous.

Kazuya must have noticed since he wrapped his cloak around her, "You must be cold Lyn."

Lyn used that chance to snuggle up to him as well, "You're so warm Kazuya."

"No need for the cloak?"

"No, I want it. Let me keep it," Lyn said.

Kazuya laughed, "Mm, guess I'll have to get a new one."

An idea popped into her mind; maybe she can make him one?
