Sensing Kazuya's silence, Lyn panicked. Does he not like the gift? Was this a bad move? She read in one of those books Pupillam gave her that there's a thing called certain stages to being in a relationship. Maybe giving a present is too soon? But the book said it's okay after a week, then again the book also said it depends on what gift you get the person.

Did she make the wrong choice? Lyn knew from observing the General over the years that men stay away from jewelry of any kind. They don't wear it since it hinders them on the battlefield.

While that may not be the exact reasoning for Kazuya to reject it, Lyn cursed herself. She ought to have thought it through more carefully. But, the moment she saw that stone, she thought it was perfect for Kazuya. As these thoughts ran through her mind, Lyn didn't see the smile that appeared on Kazuya's face until he picked her up and lifted her towards the sky.

"Wahh, um?" she said startled.

"I'm so happy, thank you, my cute and adorable Lyn," when she saw his bright smile. Lyn's eyes lit up.

If Kazuya is happy, then she is too. Lyn beamed, "Aha, put me down."

"Mmm, how is the trip young miss?"

Lyn rolled her eyes, "Charming sir," but she played along, "But, it's a bit difficult to get close like this."

Kazuya smiled, "That's true; you want to get close to me?"

He shouldn't ask questions to things he already knows the answer too.

....

Lyn felt incredibly embarrassed; she did not think he would kiss her like that. Sure, Lyn figured that bit by bit they were working on the intimacy factor. Still, he used his tongue. Tongue, an image of Rhys appeared in her mind, and she frantically shook her head. A deep sigh escaped her lips, is kissing not a greeting in the Sound Kingdom? Kazuya claims to have no experience with relationships, but he kisses so well and don't get her started on Rhys.

Her gaze landed on the man who was talking to one of the storekeepers. Kazuya has a way with words too; he's easy to get along with and at tracks many people to his side. While he was only talking to one man, many people were gathering around him. The power to draw people towards him, his kindness and strength, 'That's what she is looking in for a ruler,' Lyn thought to herself. While Mother has charisma and strength. Her kindness is limited, at least from what she's seen. Her husband was the one who committed the mistake, and yet she took on his burden. She could have disassociated herself with him, but Mother stood up for him, and that lead to people disliking her.

Is her Mother stupid? Or just plain naive? Nobody could answer that. There is no doubt that nobody else is fit to run the country; otherwise, those assassin attempts on Mother would be a lot more serious.

"Kazuya," Lyn called out.

"Oh Lyn, look they gave us freebies."

Lyn felt conflicted; she enjoyed seeing his smile and him getting along with people. But, "You're not paying attention to me anymore, do you not want to play with me?"

The market square erupts at her words.

"H—how bold young couples are these days."

"A cute girl said that..."

Lyn looked at the village people confused, what are they talking about? Bold? Kazuya made his way over and clasped his hand on her mouth, "Sorry, my girlfriend isn't well."

Eh, but she feels perfectly fine. Lyn wanted to explain this, but Kazuya was already dragging her away.

....

"Kazuya? Um? What," Lyn sentence fell short when Kazuya hugged her tightly. Lyn didn't understand what was going on, but she liked being in her boyfriend's embrace. So, she naturally hugged him back. He smells nice, as she thought this Kazuya whispered in her ear.

"I do understand you lack world experience Lyn, but there are some things you just don't say out loud."

Ah, "You mean the comment before?"

Kazuya nodded, "Yeah, and many other things. But what you said in the market just there is no good."

Oh, "I'm sorry for making you unhappy," Lyn apologized.

However, Kazuya shook his head, "No, I liked what you said. But you shouldn't say those things for other people to hear, you can say it in front of me though," he smiled and gently kissed her forehead, "Understand?"

"I think so," Lyn had more questions, but she figured that maybe it would be better if she waited until they were back at the inn. Lyn tugged on his hand, "Are we going to head back?" They've been walking around the market for a good couple of hours now. It's a large place, and they haven't covered everything, but Lyn felt her feet getting tired.

"Tired?"

"A little," and also she was a bit worried about Rhys. So many hours had gone by, and he hasn't caught up with them yet. So she wanted to check on him.

"Is this about Rhys?"

Eh?

Kazuya ran his hand through his hair, "I know you two have gotten close and all, but, I didn't think you'd cut our time together for him."

Wait, wait, what? What is he talking about?

"I'm aware that I still don't have your heart completely. If Rhys is my competition to win your heart though, it will be difficult, but I won't lose."

Lyn looked at him utterly puzzled, but he's the only one who has her heart right now. If she had any feelings for anyone else, it would be her lingering feelings for Allan. But that's because she was supposedly in love with him for so long. However, Rhys? Kazuya is seriously misunderstanding something here. However, before Lyn could get a word in edge-wise, they hear a woman's scream.

This time around, she looked towards Kazuya for confirmation to go, but he was already walking off. Lyn hurried after him, 'So, he can't ignore those people who are in need after all, huh?' But Lyn already knew he was like this.
