Translator: Flying Lines

Proofread by Claire.KK

Mu Nanzhi hadn’t lived with Lu Minglan for a long time. Lu Minglan seldom mentioned her imperial family in Dali Empire when Mu Nanzhi was young. However, as long as she talked about it, she must say something about the Eldest Prince Lu Zhishan. At that time, Mu Nanzhi was only four or five years old, so that she couldn’t remember everything clearly. But she could remember that her mother always told her she should follow Lu Zhishan’s opinion for everything when she came to Dali Empire, and discussed with him once getting any troubles. She asked her to respect and be close to this eldest cousin. She also said that perhaps the others would do her harm, but only this eldest cousin would never hurt her.

She had never seen Lu Zhishan since she came to Dali Empire, but she grew up with his legendary story. In the quite boring palace, where lived lots of women, what they could talk about were the makeup of the consorts and the stories about the princes. She knew every consorts and princes in the imperial palace, and this Eldest Prince fighting in the battlefield was the only one she had never met. But she knew all the heroic achievement stories about Lu Zhishan.

She knew this eldest cousin was the favorite son of the emperor before, who gave up the luxurious life and joined the army in his young age. During the years of defending in the frontier, he took the lead of numerous battles and never complained the hardship. As a prince, he could fight dauntlessly in the battlefield, whose merits couldn’t be summarized as brave and valiant simply. Even though Mu Nanzhi heard that the emperor was increasingly unsatisfied with his self-willed behaviors; so did the officers in the court. However, she thought he was the real hero.

Now this hero lost his position and influence, but it didn’t impact her respect to him at all.

“Your Highness, don't be too discouraged.” Mu Nanzhi gently rubbed the cup and said carefully. “The emperor was very angry when he got the information that you were hurt badly, and he released the imperial edict at that night to ask you to come back for healing, which showed that he still loved you. But now we were defeated in the southern boundary, which led our state restless, so he vent his anger on you. He would certainly resume your position after this while. ”

Lu Zhishan didn’t expect to hear the adult-like comfort from this little girl, and he couldn’t help smiling, “It’s OK to talk about it in front of me, but don’t tell others.”

Mu Nanzhi replied dully and nodded her head.

“You can get back after finishing this cup of tea. It’s getting dark. Remember to take a lantern from the janitor’s room before leaving. ” Lu Zhishan asked her to leave with a smile, “We can drop it this time for the sake of you sending the medicine to me, but don’t come to see me again.”

Mu Nanzhi lowered her head and grasped the cup hard with her joints pale slightly; then she nodded after a while, “Ok, I got it.”

Mu Nanzhi didn’t drink the tea at all. She put on the big cloak confusedly in the kind smile of Lu Zhishan and left the Mansion of Duke Ning in a flurry.

She visited Lu Zhishan hastily right after he was rebuked by the emperor, which was really amiss. As the princess of a small state, her identity was awkward originally, which made her careful for everything since she was young. She spent a whole day in considering the whole thing at her mansion, and didn’t came to the Mansion of Duke Ning until seeing it get dark, covertly with a big clock and  without any maids’ company. Luckily, there were only two streets between the two mansions. She was hurried when coming over in order to avoid being seen by others, while she felt her feet quite heavy when she was back.
