Lu Zhishan expressed his thanks and asked the servant to send the old doctor out. Zhao Jingting sat beside the bed quietly, looking at Lu Zhishan’s leg wrapped by the gauze completely, and opened his month slowly after a while, “Yongzhan, we got the imperial edict this morning, which asked you to get back to the capital city urgently. It’s said that the imperial court had chosen the officer for making peace. It’s the Right Prime Minister Wei Junchen, who will leave for Yunnan soon. ”

“Yongzhan, the Emperor is still young. He has five princes now, and will have more in the future. It’s hard for him to put all his heart on you as before. No matter how much he loves you, he can’t stand your temper.”

“Yongzhan, hope you can restrain yourself. Just take these twelve years as a nightmare and pretend you didn’t come to southwest with me that year. Now that you are awake, you are still the noble Eldest Prince. ”

“Yongzhan, stay in the capital city; don’t come to southern boundary again.”

Lu Zhishan didn’t say a word. He took a blanket conveniently to cover this face.

It was the early winter in October of the sixteenth year of Jiasheng.

Lu Zhishan entered the gate of the capital city in the evening. He lay in the carriage, listening to the bustle outside, and suddenly recalled he had been twenty seven years old. He was only fifteen when leaving the capital city. As the favorite prince of the emperor in that years, he was the noble Prince Ning, who was enthusiastic with the best life.

Lu Zhishan opened the curtain, but closed it wearily after dazzled by the bloody setting sun, then fell back on the carriage and slept soundly.

It was getting dark when the carriage stopped at the Mansion of Prince Ning. He got off the carriage with the careful support of the imperial bodyguards. Standing firm with an effort, he looked at the strange and empty mansion before, which was solemn and magnificent with a threshold of two feet tall, so that he was carried by the imperial bodyguards to enter the door.

Lu Zhishan was too tired to come to the backyard. He rested in the forecourt and had a nice sleep that night. It was a rough trip from Yunnan to the capital city, and he couldn’t sleep well until now. In the morning of the second day, a thin woman entered and waited on him to wash his face and comb his hair. He had been in the military camp for more than ten years, which made him unaccustomed to be served by a woman suddenly. He tried to ask her leaving, but found she was vaguely familiar when he looked up, while he couldn’t remember who she was at that moment.

“Your Highness, let me wait on you for washing and dressing.” That woman seemed to realize the confusion of Lu Zhishan, and she promptly bent her body with a smile to extend her respect, “I am Duan.”

Lu Zhishan finally remembered that he came back to get married according to the imperial edict four years ago. The bride was the eldest granddaughter of the superior Prime Minister Duan Zeng. However, he was back to the southern boundary hastily ten days after the wedding. He didn’t remember whether his princess was short or fat, ugly or beautiful.

“Please!” Lu Zhishan looked at Duan’s face, which looked a little constrained, and nodded to her. But when she touched his hair, he suddenly held her hand and took away the comb in her hand, “No, I will do it myself. You can leave now.”

Duan’ hand stiffened in the air, and then left after bowing to him. Lu Zhishan was a little whiny when he heard the depressive cough outside. He began to wash slowly after keeping sitting on the bed for about one hour.

Finishing the breakfast, Lu Zhishan got an imperial edict, which declared to demote Prince Ning to Duke Ning. He kneeled on the floor and listened to the imperial edict reverently. The eunuch was a stranger and he had never seen him before.

“His Majesty knew that you are not convenient to move with the wound on your knee. You are allowed not to go to the imperial palace for thanksgiving. ” The shrill and cold voice of the eunuch arose, “That’s what the Empress dowager  meant, too. She asked you to stay in your mansion to keep the wound well, no need to worry about anything else.”
