Ren needed to chop down the same spot again for it to be a critical hit.
After receiving Ren's sudden attack the enraged Tree Monster attacked Ren with his Active skill Branch Slash, if this skill hit the target 500 damage will be dealt.

But Ren easily dodged the slash with the least movements of his body as usual, he had also expected the attack so he needed to put even less effort to dodge the attack.
Dodging at this stage of the game was really too easy for Ren.
The monsters too were like players. Eventhough they could control themselves much better than players, the control they had over their bodies and attacks were still considered basic.
As the monsters levels grew they would have better control over themselves.
For example if you put a level 200 monster and a level 40 monster in a cage, then restrict the level 200 monster's level to 30 (restrict only the level and not the knowledge and control it has over it's body). then if they start attacking each other without using any skills whatsoever, the restricted level 30 monster which is 10 levels below the other monster will win easily.
And that's why eventhough the monsters were considered too powerful for other players, that wasn't the case for Ren as he was too ahead of both the players and monsters in the game.
Ren attacked the same spot of tree monster without any hesitation after dodging.

But unlike the first Tree Monster, killing the second one had taken about 45 seconds as the second Tree Monster's HP fell below 5% and it automatically came out of daze and activated the skill [Branches Gone Haywire].

Hours passed very quickly as Ren hunted down The Tree Monsters one by one. Never came a situation where he had to deal with two Tree Monster, they always moved solo.
He also had long lost count of the number of the Tree Monsters which he had killed. The whole day passed just like that and it was almost time for him to go offline and sleep.
The Tree Monsters' level ranged between 30 and 32. They also gave twice the amount of experience other normal monsters of the same level give, though even twice the number the normal monsters gave wasn't considered much compared to other elite and boss monsters.
He has not leveled up a single time despite killing the Tree Monsters the whole day. Now that he was at level 26, leveling up a single time was much harder than the past. Still he was considered much faster compared to other players as his experience bar was at 99 percent, he will level up if he kills one or two more Tree Monsters.
Other normal players would take days to level up just once when they were around level 26. So that's why Ren was still considered fast.
