Lu Cheng headed home for the night after her shift ended. She drove her car to a small apartment building on the corner of the street and turned off her car. She clicked the lock button on her car keys and shoved the key in her pocket.

After which she put her hands in her jacket pockets in search of her home key. She walked up the stairs quietly in fear of walking her neighbors.

Her shift was relatively late, and she had learned last time to walk softly. She didn't want to face the wrath of her landlord or her neighbors again.

While rummaging through her things, she came across the paper card handed to her by Su Jiang. She stared at it for a few seconds, tuning out the world around.

Orture huh? Maybe she should call...

Lu Cheng clicked her tongue, slightly angry at herself, and ruffled her own hair. Why was she thinking that? That man's brother was so rude to her and now she was considering his offer? It seemed she was getting too used the peace and quiet and getting a bit soft.

She collapsed onto her bed and fell asleep instantly, shoving all her thoughts into the back of her mind.

Next Day

Lu Cheng snored loudly and sniffled. An annoying beeping noise had disturbed her precious sleep and she was in a bad mood. She had tried to tune it out, but it didn't work. She grunted in annoyance and opened her eyes reluctantly.

Wait!

She instantly rose with alarm and grabbed her phone, checking the time.

8:20.

F*ck!!!

Lu Cheng sprang into action, brushing her teeth, getting her stuff and making breakfast simultaneously. She had slept in her work clothes, so she didn't have to change. She ran to the bathroom and skittered to a stop when seeing herself in the mirror.

Her hair was looked like it had been struck by a lightning and a tornado at the same time. She quickly grabbed a comb and did her hair while brushing her teeth.

After tossing a piece of toast into her mouth, she dashed to her car, grabbing her keys along the way.

She only had five minutes to get to the Black Diamond Mall and, unless her car suddenly grew wings, she would be late.

Lu Cheng powered her car up and vroomed to the highway, praying to the gods she would make it.

After ten minutes, she ran up to the reception desk, panting heavily. The receptionist looked at her with contempt when looking at her uniform.

But Lu Cheng was used to it already. After all, she wasn't here to be the envy of all.

She placed her ID on the desk and wiped the sweat on her forehead. She had barely made it in ten minutes and being only five minutes late was better than her usual travel time, which was twenty.

The receptionist gave her ID back and looked at Lu Cheng in the eye.

"You're late," She started, her eyes getting colder and colder by the second.

"Yes, and I'm terribly sorry," Lu Cheng said apologetically. She had talked with the receptionist before and knew she wouldn't back down to easily. She clenched her insults back and smiled innocently, like she didn't have any thoughts of punching her.

"This is very unacceptable," She glanced at her ID, "Ms. Lu."

"I know. It won't happen again," Lu Cheng was very cooperated.

"it better not," She threatened and handed her ID back and Lu Cheng let out a sigh of relief.

But right when she thought everything was good and she had evaded a calamity, a voice intervened.

"Is this how the Black Diamond Mall manages their employees?" Qiu Yuhan asked the receptionist coolly.

"Mr Qiu! Of-of course not!" The receptionist stuttered. Her change in attitude was unbelievable and made Lu Cheng look at her with disgust. It seemed that they valued a customer more than a small employee such as her.

"I suggest you punish her accordingly then," Qiu Yuhan demanded, looking at Lu Cheng with a blissful happiness to making her life hard.

Lu Cheng eyes flashed with unsuppressed fury and directed it at Qiu Yuhan. However, he merely stood there, smiling his evil smile.

"Most definitely," The receptionist nodded. The Qiu family was one of their biggest customers and she wasn't about to offend their heir for a part time employee. Even though she knew it was unfair, she continued without a second of hesitation.

Her fawning smile turned cold as she looked at Lu Cheng.

"This sort of behavior is unacceptable. Pack your things and leave immediately. You're fired!!!" The receptionist shouted, pointing at the door. She then looked over to Qiu Yuhan and after seeing his satisfied look she loosened up her body.

She was only a lowly receptionist and she didn't want to be the one responsible for the Qiu family cutting ties off from the Black Diamond Mall. It was truly a dog eat dog world.

Lu Cheng clenched her teeth in anger. Qiu Yuhan looked at her once more, his sneer telling her how pathetic she was, for even he was able to look at her in such a way.

"Qiu Yuhan, you did this to yourself. I wanted to let you live happily for a bit longer, but it seems you don't appreciate my kindness. This is the end so be careful of what you do," Lu Cheng laughed bittersweetly.

The last strand of love she had for him had finally been burned to ashes. She was prepared to destroy him at any cost.

Lu Cheng sighed with melancholy. Men truly were despicable. Lu Cheng had opened herself a bit more for the past month, taking with past friends and drinking with Tan Lin and then this happened. For Qiu Yuhan to treat her as such...

It seemed that she truly was getting too soft
