The man's leg pinned by debris, he refused to let them perform an amputation despite the danger of a further collapse. Even if the man had been Vivan, she would have suggested the same as his life would be at risk.

"Sir, there is a lot of rumble on the concrete beam. If that is lifted, it will fall like rain." Ira quickly steadied her erratic breath.

"I am not in pain. I can wait." He cried. Letting go of a leg scared him.

"Even if we tried to dig it out it would take hours, your leg couldn't be saved." After hours being under the block with limited blood reaching the limb, it would be better as cut off. If they don't see him soon, the possibility of crush syndrome and collapse do exist.

She continued, "You've got a wife who loves you, you have friends, you have a family. You have a life. And this: this is just a leg."

"Your life is at risk here." Her voice tinged with a bit of concern.

"We could get a prosthetic limb. Why exchange your life for it? You would be running in no time."

He finally agreed.

"Send paramedics," Reeya yelled. Soon a team of medics with their setup entered the basement.

He was medicated; his leg was amputated. The basement roofs had caved in. Dust fell like rain in it.

They bought him out. His wife was waiting at the ambulance assured him.

"Ira,"

When she followed him to the ambulance, she heard someone calling her name.

Vivan... He was here.

Vivan was in the ambulance. The paramedics were treating his wounds.

His naked chest showed some bruises, but what caught her eye was his right leg.

Flesh burst open from his left leg with blood spattered around the wound.

Why did they not take him to the hospital?

She saw him. He saw her...

And bam... she fainted...

-------

In the hospital,

Ira had long been staring at his leg that was plastered and lifted. "It's broken."

She walked to it and touched his leg unconsciously.

"Ah... Hurt" He made an over-dramatic expression of pain. In fact, her touch was so gentle like touching a porcelain doll in fear of breaking it.

A bright smile appeared on her face, hearing her exclaim.

Pain is good!

Pain meant it's viable!

Pain meant it's there!

"Why are you smiling?" Her smile with two lines of tears on her face looked funny.

"Girl, your husband is fine. He had one rod in his leg. We will remove plaster in a few weeks." The doctor came in to check. The woman was crying hysterically for her husband. Then again being at the accident would affect anyone's nerves.
