Naruto was able to keep up with Kirito because he was going easy on Naruto to see just how much he improved and also Swift Release is all about speed using wind Chakra a d tge after images that were being created are all part of Swift Release. you should also remember Naruto has a superior boy compared to Kirito because of Yang Nature.
Also, the most important thing is Naruto only has one ninjutsu which is Swift Release, unlike Kirito who has almost all nature of Justus to use when necessary.
also, don't underestimate Naruto just because he is not the MC here cuz he learned Sage arts in weeks and Rasengan in just a week.
