Ye Jian cultivated for the few days and slowly increased his cultivation realm. This amount of time was practically nothing to Meng Li or Ye Jian, but it was a long time for Ye Jin and Xie Ja, Ye Jian's parents. After all, their son had gone missing for a few days - he previously had gone into the wild to play, but the most he had stayed in there was a night before he returned, and even then, his parents were horrified.

As such, Meng Li was conflicted. He didn't use his Spiritual Sense to spy on Ye Jian's parents, but he knew that they had to be worried. Thus, his expression changed to a serious one from the previous small smile.

Ye Jian finally awoke after four days of cultivating non stop. He seemed to be unaware of the time which had passed, as he was quite surprised to see that the sun actually moved, and in the wrong direction. However, he was smart, and asked Meng Li as soon as he noticed it.

"Hmmm? Brother Meng, how long did I cultivate for?" Ye Jian's voice was quite worried. Meng Li's answer confirmed his worst fear, and made him even more worried than before.

"You cultivated for nearly four days." Meng Li answered with a small frown. "We should return to the town soon, I imagine Ye Jin and Xie Ja are quite worried."

"Yes, they definitely are. Brother Meng, could we teleport?" Ye Jian was worried and asked Meng Li for help.

Meng Li didn't answer and simply grabbed him by the shoulder and teleported. They appeared outside the city, in a forest. From here, it would only take a few minutes to return to the gates. Meng Li chose not to teleport directly into his house since he was worried that a search effort was going on to find Ye Jian, and him appearing within the city without entering through the gates would make the people suspicious.

However, his worries were unfounded - the guards at the gate were as lazy as usual, simply glancing over them before returning to chatting. Ye Jian didn't seem to notice them, however, and was rushing forward. Only reminders from Meng Li stopped him from using his cultivation base to rush to his house.

Even without using his cultivation, reaching his house was easy. They managed to return to their street in less than half an hour. It was extremely similar to how Meng Li remembered it - practically nothing had changed.

Only his small house in the distance seemed run down, with a few of the planks he used to make it starting to rot. However, Meng Li didn't really attach much importance to it, and he quickly rushed with Ye Jian to his house.

The time was barely past noon - practically everyone was out working, apart from the elderly and the children. However, Meng Li could sense that Ye Jin and Xie Ja were actually at their house - they didn't go to work.

As Ye Jian approached the house, he didn't bother to knock and simply entered directly. After all, it was his house, and he wanted for his parents to know that he was alive.

Meng Li chose not to enter, and instead let Ye Jian have this moment with his parents for himself. He could hear talking from within and sobbing, which presumably came from Xie Ja, but he simply tried his best to think of something else, and didn't listen in.

While thinking of other things, he suddenly got an idea - he summoned two of the Green Immortal's Peaches and put them in his bag of holding. Fortunately, no one saw them, or they would get an incredible urge to eat them, and Meng Li could guess that mortals wouldn't be able to resist it.

After a few minutes, the door to the house opened, and Ye Jian invited Meng Li in. Meng Li guessed that he wanted to tell his parents about cultivation and wanted his help to convince his parents. Meng Li entered the house and walked behind Ye Jian to the main room.

As he entered, he saw Ye Jin and Xie Ja sitting on small chairs. They both looked older than he remembered - Ye Jin looked middle aged and actually had a few grey hairs, while Xie Ja had incredibly red eyes. They both had some tears in their eyes, but their faces had a smile - they were happy that their son was alive.

When Ye Jin saw Meng Li, he couldn't help but be surprised.

"Brother Meng? I haven't seen you in years! Why haven't you told me when you left?" Ye Jin asked. Meng Li could hear a bit of resentment in his voice, but overall, he was happy to be reunited with an old friend.

Meng Li smiled and hugged Ye Jin, who stood up to greet him, but didn't reply. He simply looked to Ye Jian to indicate that he should start his explanation.

Ye Jian got the hint and motioned to his parents and sat down. Meng Li found a free chair and silently sat on it.

"Mom, dad, I should tell you something." Ye Jian began with a heavy tone. Meng Li could see both Ye Jin and Xie Ja grow stern as he talked.

"I played by myself in the woods since I can remember, and I saw a lot of things in there. However, the best thing I found in the wild was actually a legacy of an immortal, with a method of cultivation." Ye Jian continued on with his white lie. Ye Jin and Xie Ja both showed face of shock at his story, but they didn't interrupt and simply listened in awe.

"I found the small cave when I was twelve, and I actually managed to become an immortal. I want to go on an adventure, and I didn't want to simply leave you without any answers." Ye Jian said with a heavy heart. After all, he would be leaving his parents somewhere - not in this small town, but somewhere.

Both Ye Jin and Xie Ja were simply stunned by what he said. As outlandish it sounded, they could see that Ye Jian had an extremely serious expression, and they subconsciously knew that he wasn't joking.

"I wanted to teach you cultivation too, since it increases lifespan. I wanted to travel to a better place too, so you won't have to work all day simply to afford food." Ye Jian told them. He didn't know where he should leave them, but he definitely wanted them to live in a better place than this small town.

After telling them all of this, Ye Jian stopped talking and let them recover from their shock.

"Son, this... You... You're actually and immortal now?" Ye Jin asked carefully. Even though he could feel that Ye Jian wasn't joking, he simply couldn't believe it.

Ye Jian nodded slightly and waved his hand. A small wooden cup, lying on the table, suddenly rose into the air without anything touching it.

Meng Li knew that it was a simple trick which even a first layer Qi Gathering cultivator could do, but it was still magical to ordinary mortals. It was definitely enough to convince them that he wasn't lying.

Both Ye Jin and Xie Ja's eyes bulged at the display. After all, it wasn't something a mortal could do. Their son wasn't lying - he was actually an immortal. However, they still didn't know how to process this information and what to do from now on. It was simply too huge of a change, from living simply one day, to travelling with their son, who became an immortal.

"So... What should we do?" Xie Ja asked her husband, Ye Jin. However, Ye Jin couldn't really answer her, because he didn't know the answer as well.

"We are going to travel to the nearest town with the Zu Family's trade caravan. It's going to come next month... Until then, you should take care of everything here. You don't have to work too, I will take care of everything." Ye Jian softly reassured them.

Meng Li didn't really know what he should do himself. This was a conversation which Ye Jian should have with his parents in private, and the matter of him being a cultivator should just be mentioned afterwards. However, he stayed, as it would be inappropriate to simply exit right now.

Ye Jin and Xie Ja simply sat still for a few minutes, processing the information, before they started whispering to each other. They clearly didn't mean for their conversation to be heard by either Ye Jian or Meng Li, so they both tried not to hear it. Meng Li went to the extent of using Qi to seal his ears, since his senses were simply too fine tuned to be able to ignore the conversation.

After a few minutes of whispering, Ye Jin and Xie Ja seemingly accepted the reality and stopped whispering.

"Son, we still need to rest. This is simply too shocking... But still, this is amazing news! I can't believe my own son would be so amazing! You're actually an immortal! Hahahahaha!" The reality of the situation seemed to suddenly hit Ye Jin as he stood up and hugged Ye Jian and laughed loudly. Fortunately, Meng Li placed a barrier around the house, or the people living in the neighbouring houses would've definitely heard his shouts.

After laughing for a few minutes, Ye Jin finally remembered that Meng Li was there with them.

"Son, by the way, why did you invite brother Meng here?" Ye Jin asked Ye Jian. Even though he treated Meng Li as a friend, this was still a family matter, and he didn't think that Meng Li should be there with them.

"Actually, brother Meng is an immortal too. He came here to experience the mortal world, and when I became an immortal, he helped me with some things I wasn't sure of." Ye Jian explained to Ye Jin. Ye Jin's view of Meng Li immediately changed, and his gaze carried some respect and fear in it. Meng Li felt a bit sad about the matter - he didn't think that simply because he was stronger than Ye Jin, it meant that Ye Jin wasn't fit to be his friend. He couldn't help but reassure him.

"Brother Ye, even if I'm an immortal, I'm not that strong. You shouldn't think that simply because I'm an immortal, you're not my brother." Meng Li reassured Ye Jin. Fortunately for him, Ye Jin seemed to accept it, and his gaze changed once again. It still contained respect, but it once again seemed like he treated Meng Li as a friend.

"That's good, that's good. Brother Meng, you really are my, Ye Jin's, best brother!" Ye Jin hugged Meng Li while laughing. Meng Li returned the hug with a smile. He didn't want to lose a friend simply because he was a cultivator.

However, Meng Li felt like he should give the family a bit of space for themselves. He couldn't help but feel like an intruder, stopping them from being happy by themselves. As such, he gazed at Ye Jian and stood up to exit. He bid farewell to Ye Jin and Xie Ja and walked out of the door. Ye Jian followed behind him. Ye Jin let him, thinking that he wanted to bid farewell to Meng Li by himself.

Outside the door, Meng Li took out the painting and gave it to Ye Jian, who took it confusedly. It wasn't big, but it was beautiful. It depicted Ye Jian sitting on the rock in a lotus position, with a river flowing peacefully below him. The shore was a few meters away, and a big waterfall flowed in the distance. The scene seemed alive, like the water was flowing, the waterfall falling, and the grass at the shore dancing in the wind. Ye Jian's hair also seemed like it was slightly moving.

Meng Li's skill could truly be described as unparalleled because of the eight years he had spent in the mountains, painting all day. Unfortunately, the painting still lacked the Dao of Painting, and it simply looked good, without any extraordinary effects. Still, it made for a great gift.

"Brother Meng, what's this?" Ye Jian couldn't help but ask in confusion.

"During those eight years I couldn't cultivate since I can't break through yet, so I took up painting. It has become a habit for me, and I couldn't help but paint the scene of you cultivating." Meng Li explained with a smile. Ye Jian accepted the painting gladly - it was simply beautiful.

"Haha, Brother Meng, in the future, you should draw more portraits of me." Ye Jian laughed and joked. Meng Li didn't answer and gave a small smile in response.

"Brother Ye, when do you plan to break through?" Meng Li asked.

"I should spend some time with my parents. I'll let you know when I'm ready." Ye Jian replied. Meng Li picked up a small stone from the ground, cleaned it up with Qi and placed a sliver of his Spiritual Sense inside. He gave it to Ye Jian - if Ye Jian broke it, Meng Li would be alerted. Since Ye Jian didn't posses Spiritual Sense, it was the best method of communication they had.

After leaving, Meng Li found a secluded spot and teleported away. He returned into the mountains. Since he had some free time, he would once again practice painting.
