Ji Tian was silent for a few moments before speaking up again. Ye Jian didn't hurry him and simply sat silently.

"The important information I have offered to share is something that has shaken up the entire world a few weeks ago." Ji Tian had begun. "There is something I haven't told you yet, and it's information which wasn't at all relevant to the world until that event occurred. Apart from all of the factions which exist on the main continents, there also exist some small clans on the two poles. Recently, on the south pole, one of the sects based there uncovered an astonishing genius and subsequently recruited him. This sect is called the Arctic Frost Peak - it's based on an extremely large ice mountain on the south pole, and even before this, was quite powerful. Uncovering a genius by itself is not unusual, but the thing which made him special is the fact that he had broken through past the Qi Sea Realm about a year ago. He hasn't yet emerged from secluded cultivation and there are rumours that the breakthrough caused an injury, which is why he didn't emerge. After he had broken through, all of the major factions in the world have received messages from this sect, informing them of the breakthrough and instructing them to submit to the sect. There has also been a date when the sect leader, the genius who broke through, would meet all of the people who doubted him. It's set to several months from now, on the day of the polar morning on the south pole." Ji Tian informed Ye Jian and Meng Li.

Ye Jian didn't have much of a reaction, but Meng Li couldn't help but show shock on his face. Someone breaking through past the Qi Sea Realm was incredibly difficult, he was told by the system - he had learned that even himself would have extreme trouble with breaking through with the barrier present. As such, Meng Li dived into his consciousness and hurried to examine the globe. He hurriedly zoomed in on the south pole and started searching for the location of the sect. Although it was hidden, Meng Li had no trouble finding it - inspecting the world through the globe in his consciousness was like inspecting a live model of the world, so no barriers would be able to stop him.

He had found the person who broke through in an unassuming meditation room in the sect. He was clearly injured, and Meng Li could feel vitality leaking out of him at a fast rate. He wouldn't have longer than a few years to live, but he was indeed in the Qi Foundation Realm. However, the injury he had caused himself wasn't something that could be repaired - he had somehow managed to damage his middle Dantian, injuring his very source of vitality.

<System, what happened here? How did this man break through?> Meng Li inquired the system.

[He used a forbidden technique to sacrifice his life and talent to break through. Even though he's in the Qi Foundation Realm, he won't be able to progress at all, and will die in less than a decade. Thus, I didn't alert you. He poses no danger to you.] the system replied. Meng Li was instantly relieved.

Since something like this was only possible due to a secret technique and after sacrificing practically everything for an extremely temporary boost in power, he had no worries - breakthroughs like this really wouldn't cause any trouble for him. However, the impact this would have on the world in the coming few years would be immense. The period of seclusion this person has undergone was certainly in order to alleviate, or at least mask, his injuries to deceive the leaders during the meeting later. He would probably act extremely forcefully and show his power a couple of times, then 'seclude himself', and quickly die in seclusion. Preferably after showing his might a few more times.

This was Meng Li's guess, but he thought that it was pretty reasonable one, even with his limited experience of the world of cultivation. Even though he didn't have any experience in the real world, those novels he had read on earth couldn't have been for nothing, right? Meng Li reassured himself and returned his consciousness to the conversation.

Ji Tian had fallen silent after saying all of that, and Ye Jian looked like he was thinking intensely. He would definitely ask Meng Li about it after they were alone.

Ye Jian finally spoke out after a few minutes of thought.

"What is the man's name?"

"His name is Jin Feng. That's everything we know about him." Ji Tian replied. Ye Jian didn't probe further - he got everything he asked for, and even more from this conversation. He politely bid farewell and exited the room with Meng Li following him closely. Ji Tian didn't stop them - they had paid already after all. He bid them farewell, still sitting in his chair. His eyes had a crafty glint when he glanced at Meng Li's back as he was leaving the room.

The walk back to the surface was as Meng Li remembered it - damp. After they left, Ye Jian didn't immediately ask Meng Li about Jin Feng, which surprised him a bit. However, he guessed that Ye Jian simply deemed the location unsafe. They continued onwards - Ye Jian led the way, and Meng Li didn't ask him any unnecessary questions.

They reached their inn a few minutes after leaving the information merchant. Ye Jian didn't even attempt to hide the place they were staying, which confused Meng Li a bit, but he trusted him. When they reached the room, Meng Li tried to stay in the lobby and eat some of the food there to try it out, but Ye Jian motioned at him, so Meng Li followed him. Ye Jian led him into his room and finally turned around. His face was calm, only with some expression of surprise.

"So, how did that man, Jin Feng, break through? Didn't you say it was blocked?" Ye Jian asked calmly.

"It isn't blocked per-sa, but it's much harder than normal. And that man didn't break through easily - he used a forbidden technique. He will die in less than a decade, and won't be able to progress at all. He has severed his path forward just to take one more step." Meng Li explained. He felt that it was a bit of a pity, but it didn't hit him extremely hard.

Ye Jian flinched visibly when he heard the words 'forbidden technique'. Meng Li wasn't at all aware of how vile and evil these techniques could be - sacrificing their own life and talent was practically nothing when it came to these kinds of demonic arts. Ye Jian could vividly remember the demonic lily growing in him as a result of Wang Tao's betrayal.

Meng Li saw Ye Jian shake slightly, and he asked him worriedly.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes, nothing's wrong. The words 'forbidden technique' just bring some bad memories to me..." Ye Jian explained with a wry smile. Meng Li smiled embarrassedly, since he had forgotten Ye Jian's past and didn't take it into consideration when explaining. However, he didn't dwell on the matter.

Ye Jian quickly sank into thought. The fact that Jin Feng was going to die soon was huge news - that meant that the happenings during the gathering a few months later would be much more than Ye Jian imagined. To establish his power, Jin Feng would probably try to showcase it and take on any opportunity to do so, like punishing people for any 'offence' they might've committed, no matter how minor. He reached a conclusion practically identical to Meng Li's - this truly was a straightforward matter.

If this was the case, then attending the gathering would be a bad idea - with a powerful cultivator just looking to show his power, it wasn't a good place to be, even for Meng Li - defending himself would mean revealing his power, which wasn't something he wanted to do so early on. The only reason the other faction would still send people to attend was because they didn't know that Jin Feng was injured. They had an imperfect image of the situation, and thus, their conclusion wasn't perfect as a result.

As Ye Jian was thinking, Meng Li sat by the side. He still had some questions to ask Ye Jian about his actions. When Ye Jian finished thinking, Meng Li quickly bombarded him with questions.

"What did you wander around the crowd for? How did you know there was going to be an information dealer here? Why did you use your real name?" he asked many questions extremely quickly, and Ye Jian found himself unsure of which to answer first.

"I walked randomly at first to bait a pickpocket like the one that went after you. You must've looked like an easier target than me." Ye Jian started answering Meng Li's questions one by one.

"Dealing with information is present everywhere - in such a big city, there is simply no way that an organization wouldn't try and capitalize on the information market here. And lastly, why don't we use our real names? It's not like we have to hide or anything, right?" Ye Jian answered, before finishing with a question of his own.

"Well... Yeah." Meng Li was shut down by Ye Jian and didn't know how to respond. Did they have to hide? No. Then why bother?

Meng Li's curiosity was satiated and he went to his room. He had previously wanted to taste the dishes in the inn, but he didn't need to eat, so it was simply a random thought. After a few minutes, he decided that it was too much trouble.

When in his room, Meng Li once again returned to cultivation. He needed to cultivate his soul to about the same level as his Qi cultivation, and then he would try and find a way to cultivate Vitality. It would probably involve the nameless technique, but Meng Li didn't have any idea on how it would turn out.

After a few days of cultivation, Meng Li was startled awake by Ye Jian. He entered his room unannounced, but Meng Li wasn't angry.

"What's the matter?" Meng Li asked Ye Jian.

"Just wanted to inform you that I'm going to break through to Qi Sea soon. Could you help me when the time comes?" Ye Jian asked. Meng Li visibly became excited and quickly replied.

"Of course! The sooner you break through the sooner we'll move on. When will you be ready?" Meng Li replied.

"My parents are currently cultivating in seclusion in their room, they won't emerge for at least two weeks. I'll be ready in two days, I'll let you know when." Ye Jian responded and left. In order to break through successfully, one needed to be in peak condition, both physically and mentally - even Ye Jian, who had a high cultivation base, couldn't afford to relax. Even though he had the experience of breaking through once, it would still require his all to do so.

Meng Li was excited, but he quickly returned to cultivating his soul. He couldn't slack off, right? However, he remembered to remain alert about his surroundings to not miss Ye Jian. Missing Ye Jian was impossible, but Meng Li simply didn't want to waste time.

Sure enough, two days later, just hours before the sunset, Ye Jian opened the door and woke Meng Li up. Meng Li reacted quickly and stood next to Ye Jian in less than a second after he opened the door.

"You're ready?" Meng Li asked with a smile.

"Yep." Ye Jian replied. Meng Li nodded slightly and grabbed his shoulder, and they both disappeared without a warning.

They appeared within a small valley, with the last rays of the sun illuminating one of the mountains making the valley. It was the same valley they regularly trained the past month, and seeing the familiar location brought a small smile to Ye Jian's face.

"Alright. Let's begin." Ye Jian said with a small smile. He was excited to finally break through, after all.
